Not coverage or front wise. I am talking in terms of being aggressive in his system. His foundation was built on the 4 man rush with everyone else, collison-funnel-sink.
I saw an aggressive mentality for a guy who relied on the front 4 a lot with the Bucs from what I remember.
Also, it's the guys first game coming from college. I am interested in seeing how he adjusts once he gets the swing of things at this level again.
Not that I expect anything different. Let's see, it was all Wilson's fault that the Giants lost despite:
1) a punt bounced off McBride that resulted in 1 short TD;
2) a pick 6 off the hands of Scott, who apparently wasn't quite on the same page as Eli
3) the 1st INT that was all on Eli that resulted in a FG
4) the 2nd INT, which was likely a receiver's fault for not being on the same page as Eli
That's 17 points players other than Wilson gave up, so there was plenty of blame to go around for the TOs. As mentioned, the ball bounced the Cowboys way all night except for the Mundy pick.
Some people have EXTREMELY short memories. I'm amazed they can remember how to brush their teeth. The Giants lost 34-0 to the Falcons last season, just 4 games ago. That's 31 fewer points than they scored tonight & 34 points they lost by, rather than 5 tonight. A 29 point differential is a great deal shittier than 5. Eli had 165 yards passing that game w/ 2 INTs & 0 TDs, compared to 450/3/4 tonight. I'll take his game tonight as well & it's not even close.
David Wilson single handedly did cost us the game with his play 2 fumbles not punching it on goal failing to block leading to sacks. He was a train wreck.
Time of possession is likely to run against the Giants until the running game perks up, so I'm glad to have those extra veteran bodies. And it was nice to see Aaron Ross and Terrell Thomas challenging receivers. Fingers crossed for Prince's noggin, of course.
Safety could be a little rough until Hill returns, but Mundy looked like he belonged out there, for a guy who was supposed be a backup.
Then there's linebacker. Oh dear. The good news for next week is that the Giants will be in nickel most of the game anyway (more Jacquian Williams, less Mark Herzlich). The bad news is, they tried that against Peyton three years ago and got blown out.
your # 2, the Scott interception TD is on Wilson too, because his bad play put him on the bench. Scott should have been on the bench for that play, but Wilson was because he sucked tonite. Wilson had all the reps catching those short passes, not Scott.
David Wilson gotta stop.....question for all u know-it-alls. Did David Wilson all the sudden cause our screen passes to suck....as well as Eli played tonight,3 of those turnovers were his fault....
That last screen pass was all on Scott and the second INT was a typical Giants' miscommunication, where we'll never really know who was at fault, outside of just pointing the finger at the system seemingly promoting that sort of thing far too often.
They all do, and almost every time, fans think it's an awful fumble. BUT, to me, fumbles inside of your own 20, and inside the opponent's 20 are the killers. That was at least a 10 point swing on those 2 fumbles tonight. Just brutal.
Doesn't mean he's a bust, and of course he's our starter. But those were ghastly tonight and were the biggest contributor to our loss.
I like David Wilson a lot too, but blaming him is a very reasonable response to this loss. More importantly though, so is being very, very concerned about what kind of player he'll wind up becoming.
I'm really hoping for the best. Not only because I'm a Giants fan, but because I really like that guy. I can't imagine being in his shoes right now.
...Eli was 2011-type terrific, despite fairly constant pressure. Ultimately, this game was a lot like the Seattle loss that year, or the previous losses to Philly where fluke fumbles by Eli killed Giant rallies. When you put yourself in a hole that leaves no margin for error, one bad play can kill what looks like a great comeback. Even Eli Manning isn't exempt from the dangers of walking that kind of tightrope.
Randle runs the post, but his man sat in the flat, therefore he needs to be looking for the ball since he is right in the open hole. Randle doesnt look for Ball. - ( New Window )
Can u explain how Eli can't be blamed we he said he tried to get the ball around ware and there was not an ounce of touch on that pass to Scott? I will look at the other but that ball looked like it zoomed well over jerigan's head. If at screen had touch it just falls to the ground. When is there ever touch on an Eli screen?
The second was on Randle. Click my link and find Allens INT, you will clearly see Randle not looking for the ball.
And 3rd INT is solely on Scott. Its a timing play and he doesnt even get his head around. Eli didnt throw it 100 MPH. Lets be honest. It was a flick. He wasnt ready because hes a 3rd stringer and his timing was off.
Jernigan is the one leaping for the ball. You're right that Randle isn't looking for it, but when you have two WRs in the same space, something went wrong.
In 2007 when we lost to Dallas Week 1 the defense was BRUTAL. In 2011 it was bad turnovers combined with bad defense. Both of those years worked out pretty well.
Obviously the wheels can still come off too.
I just think that tonight's debacle is reversed next week if Big Blue can beat Denver, and I think they can.
Like many have already said, there is reason for hope...
Jernigan put his hands up to catch it.... I thought there was another angle in the game that showed it better... But it looked like randle was bracketed under and over
Long before Scott, long before Wilson,Eli has been embarrassing on screens. I understand timing and that nature but this is an on going low point in the offense. I love Eli but we are very Quick to point at everyone else because I think we like to give him the free pass because he is Eli but I do respect your opinion.
I think it's more fair to say that second one was a team or system INT
than trying to force it on Eli or Randle (or any player) because we don't know exactly what was going on there other than they were all on the wrong page.
It was just one of those plays that this offensive system is prone to featuring, unfortunately.
This myth that he's never been able to throw to RBs is annoying. He didn't start not being able to until they took away his RBs that were actually good pass catchers and replaced them with an awful receiver in Jacobs, a so-so one in Bradshaw, now a generally terrible Scott, etc. and the OL started to lose its powers. That's not a coincidence.
Not very impressive really.

Myers might not be a game changer, but he gets to the spot and has soft hands. And when teams play deep and extra coverage he's gonna get a lot yards.
Doesn't mean he's a bust, and of course he's our starter. But those were ghastly tonight and were the biggest contributor to our loss.
I'm really hoping for the best. Not only because I'm a Giants fan, but because I really like that guy. I can't imagine being in his shoes right now.
Situations..this will happen next week
Randle doesnt look for Ball. - ( New Window )
Wilson may be in the doghouse for a game or so
The second was on Randle. Click my link and find Allens INT, you will clearly see Randle not looking for the ball.

Randle had Claiborne beat, and never looked. If he looks as soon as he breaks, its an easy catch.
Obviously the wheels can still come off too.
I just think that tonight's debacle is reversed next week if Big Blue can beat Denver, and I think they can.

Seemed like neither WR knew what to do there, and you had 3 defenders in the space. Lee was just barely away from the play.
It was just one of those plays that this offensive system is prone to featuring, unfortunately.

Wilson I can't even imagine what he is thinking right now
