Apparently has a work out scheduled with us for Tuesday, per his long time friend and boxing colleague Kendall Holt
@Kholt456: The messiah, will be at Giants Stadium working out for the team Tuesday Morning @nfl_am _ericdavis_ @ http://t.co/nLCqDxTo51
I'm not writing Wilson off and still believe he'll have at least a decent career in the big picture, but you can't really trust him or any other RB on this roster right now to do even that basic function, nevermind anything else.
If he can pass block and knows his assignments (and the coaching staff doesn't over-do his carries or do something as stupid as bury Wilson for him -- this is the big issue here), there may be room for him because the other currently uninjured guys can't be fully counted on to do those things.
I would love this.
im only happy for this because of what he would bring in the locker room and pass protection. not for his receiving and running skills, that's for sure
I then think that they'll sign another RB after week 3 who has less than 4 vested years, when they'll likely cut Ojomo. If Ojomo clears waivers 24 hours later, they'll probably re-sign him to the Practice Squad.
After week 8, Andre Brown will be eligible to return to the active 53-man roster, at which point the Giants will have to cut someone to make room for him.
*I should have said that Jacobs may very likely be on the roster for the year to avoid termination pay, even though it would be miniscule (25% of his paragraph 5 base salary if he is signed on Tuesday afternoon).
*Jacobs would get $715,000 which would be prorated for 16 weeks instead of the full 17 ($672,941).
*His cap # would be $555,000 though, and would be prorated for 16 weeks, instead of the full 17 ($522,353). 25 percent of this amount would be $130,588.
they might not have lost the game
it was a quick hook. the second fumble wasn't completely his fault, he got mauled.
As someone else said, he can pass-protect ... and he could probably still put someone on their ass.
For 12-15 plays a game? Can't see why so many are so against it. It's not like Wilson's going anywhere, so a Wilson/Jacobs tandem might be 3 ticks better than a Wilson/Scott tandem.
Guys have recovered from bad nights before, but you don't just leave him out there to continue unraveling.
Don't be stupid, you need a running threat or the other guys blitz all day.
I love BJac - I doubt he has anything left. Kick the tires but don't expect a signing.
The NFL season is on 16 games long, and unless the team is in rebuild mode, they don't have the luxury of giving a guy a few games to figure out how to hold on to the ball, that is what pre-season is for. All a defense has to do is have the first tackler hold him up while the rest rip at the ball.
He will only hurt this team at the RB position. Denver will be practicing this all week.
Bring in BJ and see if he can help.
Presnap or post? Reading the D or simply technique? is it correctible?
Does he take back #27 since Stevie Brown is injured?
Move on and get someone else.
TEAM BJ!!!
Gary, the key word is "hope." He's done very little in the past few years to prove he can revert to the Jacobs of old.
I agree that he has not shown he can be a short yardage guy consistently - but he can bust one out - he's mad dangerous in the open field - and he can lay a hard lick on the best of the defensive backs.
