Giants v. Rams---Sept '84....Craziest NFL Game Ever

Who else remembers this insane game back in 1984?

Here are the strange things I can recall from the game...I would love to see an article though (yes, I tried google) that spells it all out:

1. Giants lost 33-12.

2. The Giants gave up an NFL record 3 safeties in one quarter (3rd quarter).

3. The Giants opening TD came when they kicked off and the Rams player let the ball roll in the end zone and the Giants jumped on it.

4. All Pro Ali Haji Sheik missed all three of his kicks that day including both PATS!

5. After giving up only 6 blocks in over 800 career punts, Dave Jennings had two punts blocked in a single quarter.

6. And yeah, the game was delayed when one of the goalposts fell over.

Anything else?

Giants had 13 rushing attempts

For 8 yards; Carpenter 9 for 6; Woolfolk 3 for 2; Frank Cephous 1 for 0; AD had $1.20 all by himself for the Rams.

Allowing 3 safeties in a quarter is relegation to the NCAA territory.

the 1984 season...Giants were 3-1 heading out top play the Rams and after that kickoff that resulted in a touchdown, I thought the Giants were going to win.

One of the worst games I've seen. And they got hammered by the 49ers right after that too.

From 3-1 to 3-3 with two bad blowouts.

falling over was just the final kick in the nuts because the players all sat on their helmets on the field while they tried to get them backup. (If I recall correctly, they fell over sideways, not onto the field).

Yes, they fell over to the side. I think it was about a 15 minute delay.

Also the Giants gave up an 83 yard punt return in addition to the two blocked punts.

playoff game against the Rams was sweet, but man, talk about how times have changed...big plays in that game were like a 8-yard Rob Carpenter run.

Joe Morris had a huge run at the end of the game but it was called back due to a penalty.

the big play series in the game was the goal line stand.

Hello all. I am a new poster after lurking several years. I was at this game and it was really that crazy. Had end zone seats right where the goal post fell over. I remember things just as others have posted.

I didn't even know what football was in 1984.
