Hearing that Herzlich is our answer at MLB makes you want to go and buy a case of Tums before Sun. How is the guy still in the league is nothing short of mind boggling. He may have heart, but he has NO talent.
the Giants staff did bring in a bunch of linebackers. They figured they'd get at least 5 guys that could play on an "acceptable" level.
They were wrong this time. Curry would rather sit at home than play hard. Rivers will be on the injury report in no time. Maybe next year they could do a little more homework for the LB position.
The staff did an excellent job with the whole Dline. They did their best with the Oline. We were good in the backfield until Stevie Brown went to IR and Hill got suspended. You just can't win at every position.
when the injury happened, Jerry Jones' crap notwithstanding, he looked like he got rocked pretty good. When you hear the report, almost dismissively as "a burner", really doesn't give an indication on how serious they can be. The Giants, unlike some other teams (see the Broncos and Al Wilson) are very conservative around neck injuries and do their best to look out for the player (see Kiwi a few years ago).
For Herzlich, this is it, his make or break. If he doesn't show us that he can play, despite the inspirational story that he is, and his BC connections, he won't be on the roster. The coaches have liked him for a while, it's time to see if he can validate their faith. If not, I wonder if they try to give Boley a call back as well, he was playing some MLB last year for them as well.
We just cannot find good thumping LBs for this team. Connor actually resembled a halfway decent MLB. Of course he's done.
I know the philosophy is to build the lines and the DBs, and it's not a bad philosophy but it wouldn't hurt to bring in a legit and HEALTHY LB next season. Maybe even draft one...
we were counting on Curry, Rivers, and Connor.....even though Rivers can't stay on the field, Curry had been a bust, and Connor was no vast improvement over Blackburn....
But they are all huge gambles....and now we are paying for it....
Jacobs came back....is Boley the next man up? Is he even in shape?
In last week's game, I thought Paysinger played the best, if you want to call it that, of the linebackers that were out there...while Rivers is fast, he sucks against the run....
I sometimes wonder, if these young linebackers hesitate, because they are afraid to make a mistake....well, they don't have to worry about that anymore, they are all that we have and they will be sent out there no matter what....
At least we really get to see what we really have in this kid. If all fails, we will need to sign a big free agent next offseason. We no longer have time to develop such a key position on our defense.
I'm really ashamed to admit this but I can't think of the name of the mlb we brought back during 2011. He made the interception in the SB taking the ball from Gronkowski. Where is he now?
"mock draft" a DL before a LB. my 2 bits is the whole 'pile of new old guys' at DT...crowding out the rooks...aaand LB play in our scheme in general vs guys like whitten.
I would have drafted Khassim Greene. IMO he was a 3rd round talent and would have been a value pick at a need position. FYI tho early he has looked good in Chicago so far.
You keep doing the same thing, you get the same shitty results! There is no excuse for this at all, it's sickening. Glad we have 1 Dlinemen though. Now maybe we can put Kiwi, a horrendous linebacker there to make Reese look like he knows what he is doing. Watch what Peyton does to this defense.
Herzlich is not an NFL LBer. We'd better hope we can catch lightning in a bottle with someone else. We're going to be running a LOT of big nickel.

The injury thing is getting old with this team. Every season
