it would be one thing if this team came out and lost 31-3 in back to back games from being outclassed.

this team just cant get out of its own fucking way. in 1 game, you have 5 turnovers and yet it takes the 6th one when you're driving for the GW TD to officially lose. this week, you cut a game to 17-16 with a chance to get to .500 and somehow allow 3 TDs in 5mins.

just a comedy of errors for 2 weeks now. the sad thing is the defense has actually flashed, but the offense is once again - ALL on Eli.
Better news Lots of top tier

They're not a great team. So what? Except for 2008, they never have been under Coughlin.

They're up and down, mistake-prone? That's their identity, always has been this era.

They'll beat Carolina next week and things will brighten up a bit, til their next stretch of piss poor play.
When you make unforced errors like this
GiantFanInTX : 9/15/2013 7:12 pm : link
it means you are not good. The Giants are a terrible football team right now. Special teams stinks, the defense stinks, the offensive line is terrible and the QB is a turnover machine. You aren't going to win like this.

The good news is there is still time to right the ship. We have 8 turnovers in less than two games. We can't run. The defense sucks on 3rd down. Do we have the talent to fix this? Remains to be seen. The offensive line draft picks have not worked out. Hard to believe the younger guys could be worse than Snee and Baas.

They are not. They are a talented team that has been making rookie mistakes and shows zero ability to capitalize on opportunities.

They are not even close to being better than Denver. They don't even have the right to be in the same conversation as this team stands now.

We are talented but we are careless, make stupid mistakes and show no ability to capitalize on golden opportunities. We aren't "better" than anyone right now.

This isn't doom and gloom. Clean up the mistakes and learn how to punch it in from close and we can have a go at anyone...but RIGHT NOW? This is a shitty looking football team

The Linebackers are terrible
We have no good RB's
Eli is getting older...

Get ready to suck for the next 2-3 years. It'll take at least that to fully rebuild.

chris r : 9/15/2013 7:25 pm : link
again. We've won with shitty LBers and average secondaries because we smashed QBs with our front four. That's not happening anymore, and won't unless JPP becomes JPP again and/or Moore steps up.

Tuck and Kiwi look pretty ordinary as pass rushers.
Few Thoughts
Mark from Jersey : 9/15/2013 7:26 pm : link
Still early, but team has not improved at all since pre-season and look to still be in pre-season form.

Paysinger was terrible today. Wailing on Special Teams tackles and Running Plays to the outside, both of which resulted in TDs.

OL is very bad...One play I remember was Snee and Baas didn't even put a hand on a guy that ran free to Eli to force a quick throw.

Cannot run the ball at all.

Why is Scott on the field? He is horrible...DJ Ware V2.0.

I question Eli's decision making on a few plays....I really do not know what he is seeing right now. I do not know if its the WR or him (same question for last 5 years). Underthrows, overthrows...very inaccurate. Having no time doesn't help either.

But there are 14 more games against lesser teams coming up. Denver is just the better team. Stop being such pussies and get ready for next week when they go and beat Carolina.

The offense needs to get its shit together. Maybe simplify things a bit? Who knows. The D gave them plenty of chances in both these games but they didnt do their part.
I can answer one thing
islander1 : 9/15/2013 7:29 pm : link
Scott was on the field because Wilson is the only back worth half a shit on this team, and the game was over at 38.

TexasGmenFan : 9/15/2013 7:29 pm : link
the dallas game - despite 5 turnovers - we sat at midfield 1st down, 2 min to go...and lost

today? despite leaving 14-20 pts on the board in the first half? cut it to 17-16 and then somehow get 21 dropped on us in a matter of 5min

just irritating.

is to run off a string of wins.

It really sickens me to think of all the hoopla concerning the new defensive line that had so much talent that we had to release good players. Patterson may have played great in the pre-season games, but did that justify cutting Austin, whose upside we did not know. After two games of an ineffective DL I will answer that question "No". And who can explain where the 2011 version of JPP went.

And Wilson is looking like Reese's biggest bust. I'm sure that the Giants really wanted to draft Doug Martin but Tampa Bay outwitted Reese. So he took the next back on his list, instead of the best player on his list. The NFL just doesn't draft running backs in the first round anymore.

Missing the playoffs for the fourth time in five years will cause us to lose all the good will that we established winning the two Super Bowls. We will now be just another team with just another quarterback.

(I realize that I'm being ridiculously pessimistic after only the 2nd game of the season, but it helps to vent. And I can't understand where the pass rush went.)
Why are they not throwing bombs to Cruz on every play?

bigbluescot : 9/15/2013 7:40 pm : link
we can stuff runs up the middle but don't get any real pressure from the D-end's
we've got a decentish secondary with no depth at Safety.
Marginal at best talent at linebacker

And the defense is the best unit on the team by a mile at the moment.

On offense it's more marginal talent at TE, marginal talent at RB with the exception of Wilson who has talent but is a situational player at them moment. We've got stellar talent at WR but we have a gaping hole in our interior OL line which is another unit where we have lots of salary sunk for little current return.

At QB we have Eli who simply makes far too many bone headed throws into coverage far far too often.

It could all come together, it probably won't. Given the other results we're not too far back but I'm not sure this suddenly gets better.
Can't believe we watched this whole game
SethFromAstoria : 9/15/2013 7:40 pm : link

always going to be a tough team to win. Peyton is so freaking good that you're just not going to shut him down. I thought the D did OK in not giving away a lot of easy stuff - they tackled well, people were generally covered, etc. But they didn't make many big (any?) big plays, so really the just ended up being speed bumps against a very powerful O.

To win we were going to need one of our outstanding games from the O. We'll still get some of them this year - I'm sure they still exist. Unfortunately, today wasn't one of them. Even though the game was close, those 1st half missed opportunities were the end of us for this game. You can't keep Peyton down for long and it was just a matter of time until Denver got their points.

Miserable game, but I'm not too torn up about it. Denver is way better than we are. Peyton is unstoppable right now. Playoffs-wise, we just have to be better than the NFCE, and the other 3 teams aren't very good. It's still a little disappointing to see how far away were are from the good teams though. Denver is missing Miller and Bailey and we got a ton of calls in this game.
Tampa Bay didn't out-wit Reese.
Riggies : 9/15/2013 7:42 pm : link

Would be a good idea to sign a a couple of FA OL men, and maybe trade for 1. And I say invite all the undrafted rookie FAs they can find, maybe we'll find the next Cruz of the OL.

Let it be motherfucking battle of all OL battles of all time.

early and the Offense just couldn't deliver today. Terrible play calling, terrible use of personal, terrible tempo. They put all the weight on Eli and he just didn't get it done.

We are witnessing what happened last year with what this coaching staff did with Diehl with Snee this year. This team makes so many bone head mistakes, lack of execution; how many missed sacks and players not following through resulted in big plays?

It looks like it will be a long year yet again, fortunately this division is very evenly ranked; so always will have a shot. But honestly, if this team doesn't get some chemistry going and a pass rush than we might as well just pack it in.
It's only week 2 so we have a little time to get it figured out.

the last time, the lack of pressure by the DL was not a problem. JPP is still rounding into shape, and we rarely rushed more than four. The game plan was to play more in coverage, starting with a 4-2-5 alignment. I do agree that Tuck looks like he is done.

The real problem is the terrible interior play of the OL. And the "villain" for this is Coughlin and Gilbride. Coughlin has too much loyalty to veterans, i.e. O'Hara, Diehl, and now Snee, his son in law.

Players decline, age and health. Baas and Snee are hurting the protection.
We

also really need to question the complexity of this offense. Eli has 150 INTs since entering the league in 2004, more than anyone else. We've all been watching for years, and seen way too many INTs because Eli and his receiver were not "on the same page." We saw several more today.

it takes too long for newcomers to the team, whether rookies or FAs, to learn the offense and therefore be able to contribute. Other teams just don't seem to have as many miscommunications. The refusal to simplify the offense is more stubbornness. This time from Gilbride.

Burt in Alameda : 9/15/2013 7:53 pm : link
low point in Giants' history. This game was the worst in-season defeat in a long time. It was hard to watch-- on offense no run blocking at all and, if there was, no one to run the ball, Eli throwing four interceptions, and receivers tripping over themselves on the field. On defense, no pass rush and . . . . Two consecutive losses and really no prospects for playing better. Thank god, the division is so bad.
LBers
Gmen108021 : 9/15/2013 7:53 pm : link
Our LBers are a fucking joke...broncis run game is average and they scored twice from outside of 20 yards on ground. Herzlich is blocked into tge stands every play paysinger wiffed on tackle on punt return. Tour starting lbers start on special teams cause tgey are special teamers not starting lbers. If herzlich just jumps on the ball instead of trying to pick it up game coulda been different we have ball on 35 goin in down 1our defense outside of lbers isnt to bad. Peyton is tough!

Does anyone call this game winnable, HOW? If we played 10 times better we could win, what the fuck does that even mean? To watch Eli at this point in his career, play like this says that there is something seriously wrong on this team. Does it take a fucking rocket scientist to understand this offense, or are we simply just a poor team that we fans have overvalued by a ton, because this is unwatchable football. One player after the other getting hurt, no toughness at all on this team, we spend all our money on the DLINE and they stink! Unreal how bad this team is, I knew there was no way we would win, but at least compete!
Yeah
AcidTest : 9/15/2013 7:55 pm : link
the LBs are bad, but they didn't cost us the game today. Paysinger actually played well. The secondary was decent as well. We are just a one dimensional offensive team. You can't win without a running game, even though this is a passing league.
Denver is a really good team
Peter from CT : 9/15/2013 7:55 pm : link
After today, I would be surprised if they aren't in the meadowlands in December.

That said, you can't compete with them if you are going to make a lot of mistakes. Too many of those.

The interior of the offensive line needs to start playing together. They were wiffing on the stunts. Can't run with penetration up the middle on every run.

JPP doesn't look like the same player. The defensive ends generally were invisible.

The Giants played a good half. Too bad its a two half game.

So....can't blame Wislon for all their turnovers again. After today, I see why the Giants aren't using him (Sarcasm). We're cutting our nose to spite our face. Going to be long season watching Scott and Jacobs run the ball. 5-11 is my guess.

On the positive side, how long until Diehl comes back to shore up the line, lmao....

bryan from nj : 9/15/2013 7:56 pm : link
The GM does not believe that LB is an important enough position to draft quality players. So you think we'd be a better team if we had the SF LBs (Wilson, Bowman and Brooks).

As far as the OL, Snee should be but tomorrow but he's Coughlin's son-in-law. Baas can barely stand straight up. Beatty and Boothe have career back-up talent.

Its time for the Mara's to reboot while Eli is still young. Coaching staff and GM need to go.
This offense is about as sloppy and mindless
Exit 172 : 9/15/2013 7:56 pm : link

unless we get to QB especially Peyton he'll eat you up..
2/ KG has no run game partly because his run plays suck

blocking..as in most years..we are blaming running backs..
This is all coaching..
Eli looks frustrated...he has been making some bad throws
but it looks like he is under pressure and game plan blows..
so we need a pass rush and a running game...I dont think the
coaches get it and will change much..look for an ugly win

We will not win without the PR and our Passing game in synch. Regardless of other poor facets, we can win if we have a good pass rush and passing game. We've done it before, but those facets are not even working.
We need to wait
Sammo284 : 9/15/2013 8:06 pm : link
and see how things grade out over the season, but the run game is clearly an issue that's magnified by a mediocre to poor offensive line.

O-Line will have to be a huge priority in the offseason in the draft and FA perhaps. I'd also like to see us bring in a solid TE mix. I'm not that impressed with Myers in this offense. Some of the "but wait" on Myers from a few Raiders fans seem to be accurate in terms of speed/skill deficiency and how he opens things up or in all honesty, doesn't.

I think letting Nicks go would be fine as long as the draft is used to add another potential receiver in the depth chart and the savings/money is allocated over several areas.

This team while not being bad, does have a lot of problem areas. Reese has his work cut out for him.

I honestly can't get a good read on the defense other than the fact that the pass rush hasn't been there yet and if it doesn't come, it's going to be a big problem. The coverage hasn't been awful and the secondary has played fairly well in spite of the issues on the front 7.
I'm predicting 5-3

because, as others have said, both this game and last week's were winnable, I expected them to lose both and still go 10-6. But the thing that concerns me is that they looked so ill-prepared. Did they watch any footage last week? They were lucky that 1) Welker had a horrible game making so many drops and 2) that Denver had so many penalties. It could have been much, much worse.

I am just relieved that the rest of the division also lost.
We have to get a running game going
PatersonPlank : 9/15/2013 8:14 pm : link
if we don't the defenses will blitz, and Manning will have to continue throwing all over the place to move the ball. Right now our offense is like a high-wire act, everything is way down the field and high risk.
Seth
Marty866b : 9/15/2013 8:15 pm : link
Great point.I just don't see the intensity and hard hitting that we see from our opponents. I would love to see Fewell replaced. I find it hard to believe that we can't blitz or run some stunts that can actually put some pressure on the qb. With the rules the way they are you just cannot sit back in coverage.EVERYONE gives up yards and points today,it is the defenses that create turnovers are the ones whose teams will win.
Quick thoughts
MarshallOnMontana : 9/15/2013 8:15 pm : link
this division blows, no one is running away from us. 0-2 is not a death nail in this NFC East. Historically you have a 12% chance at making the postseason from an 0-2 start, I feel very confident in saying the Giants playoff odds are far north of that and I'm the furthest thing from a homer. That statement is based as much on the mediocrity of the division as much as it is any compliment to the Giants

On another note, Denver looks phenomenal. To the extent that it matters in September, they're probably the best team in football right now and not even healthy. This has the look of a historic offensive regular season from them

The NFC East is now 57-67 playing out of division since 2010. 0-4 today

Reese's Pieces : 9/15/2013 8:30 pm : link
earlier post, The Giants have lost their confidence in themselves and that is their biggest problem right now. They have Carolina and Kansas City next, both on the road, and if they win those games, which they should, they will be 2-2 and can turn the season around.

Kansas City beat Dallas today in a typical Romo performance. He had great stats, and made some spectacular throws to Bryant, but two 2nd half fumbles put them down by four with lots of time remaining in the second half. It looked like the Chiefs had pinned Dallas on their one, but an illegal touching penalty gave them the ball on their twenty. Romo just had to lead the team on a touchdown drive against a very ordinary defense, but he missed a couple of open receivers and they had to settle for a field goal. They got the ball back with a long shot chance of getting into winning field goal range, but he failed at that and Dallas lost a big time chance to get a good early lead on the rest of the division.

One thing: none of the other NFC East fans are feeling too well tonight. Especially the Redskins.

but we all knew this was coming. The game planning did not adjust because they had no alternatives. They are a pass only team on offense with no ability to run and a soft, slow defense with a very obvious lack of talent at the LB position.

These cannot be fixed by picking up a few guys off the scrap heap, hoping to catch lightning in a bottle until the next piece needs to be replaced. Until they use the draft to address the obvious flaws, they will continue in this path.
The comments are ridiculous
HomerJones45 : 9/15/2013 8:39 pm : link
You turn the ball over 11 times and give up 28 points on returns in two games, you are going to be 0-2. Eli has not played particularly well and the young guys Wilson and Randle have now fumbled 3 times in the two games. This isn't going to happen all year.

The running game will come around. No one in the entire league is running the ball particularly well-a function of the limited practice in training camp.

Denver defense is very good- fast and they hit hard. This was going to be a tough game no matter what. Denver also got a couple of nice bounces on the fumble by the receiver and the circus pick off the players foot. Sometimes, shit happens.

The pass rush is fine. We've seen two opponents come in with the same gameplan- throw short and get the ball out quickly to minimize the sack opportunities.

I felt they kept him in check today. When I think of the Dallas game, I really feel like they only let in about two scores (2 DEF tds, 2 drives starting on the 15).

The offense is much more worrisome to me... especially in the red zone. We are consistently bad year in and year out which leads you back to coaching. We quite possibly have the least innovative playcalling inside the 20 that has ever existed. That series where we had 58 shots from the 5 was comical.

And the Cowboys are 25-29 in their last 54 regular season games. Don't have a winning season since 2009

The Eagles are 13-23 in their last 36 regular season games, 5-13 the last two years

Given the changes with the Skins it would be kind of irrelevant to list their horrible record over a similar lengthy sample size, but this is a franchise whose last 5 seasons can essentially be boiled down to a good month and a half at the end of last year. 0-2 coming into a year with expectations which is something they've not dealt with in years

One thing that doesn't seem to change is the predictability of the Giants' offense. As has been already said here, if the running game is predictable or weak, the passing game will suffer. That's why Eli has 7 picks already. Don't see that improving without better offensive balance.

For me, the turning point in the game was the INT before the half.

Re-watching the replays over and over, I think it was a bad call and even worse execution. Even if Nicks and Eli are on the same page and Nicks looks for the ball outside, he was still double covered with a 3rd DB coming over for help. It was not likely to be completed. So either it was not the right call for that D, it was not the right reads, a combo, whatever. The ball should have been thrown away.

AcidTest : 9/15/2013 9:00 pm : link
not that complicated. You don't win if you don't control the LOS.

Last year, we couldn't control the LOS on the defensive side. So we loaded up on DL in FA and the draft. This year we can't control the LOS from the offensive side. The interior OL is as bad as the interior DL was last year.

But the only change that is coming is the reinsertion of Diehl. If Snee is benched, it won't be for Brewer, it will be for Diehl.
Talent=Cowboys=losing

The DEs were invisible today. And thats our bread and butter on D.
There is no team in the NFL without a unit or two that is a weak spot
Giantfan in skinland : 9/15/2013 9:02 pm : link
Good coaches figure out a way to work around it. Ours have in the past. Lately, it just feels to me like our staff is too stubborn to abandon what isn't working. This offense needs to be refreshed. If the staff is unwilling to do it...time for a new staff.

This team is NOT "talented"...
EricJ (formerly Tyleraimee) : 9/15/2013 9:04 pm : link
there is talent in a couple of areas. However, much of the talent other positions over-rated.

QB, WRs, P, K, and one safety are talented. Maybe one CB. Please tell me where the rest of the talent is? Ok Wilson is talented but unfortunately cannot display his talent due to the O-line. If you want to say the D line is talented...then when will they play that way? Not playing to potential on a consistent basis = over rated. Our leading sack producer last year had only about 6 or 7 all season. Our CB's for the most part are not doing the job.

The truth is, when your team has as many holes as areas that are solid, then you cannot call the team "talented".
A few thoughts:
Victor in CT : 9/15/2013 9:04 pm : link
1) Snee has had it unfortunately.
2) Baas is a never was. He stinks.
3) Myers sucks big blue balls. He is a garbage time stat compiler. Tripped by the turf, dropping a sure 1st down, can't block at all. Those early screw ups changed the game.
4) Again, the D wasn't bad early, they worn down.

your comment about our D line being our bread and butter is exactly my point. This unrealistic perception that we have a dominant D line. We have been run over for the past couple of seasons in the run game and have not been getting consistent pressure on the QB.
I said it several times over the past year
old man : 9/15/2013 9:12 pm : link
on BBI, and for the last several years: the team seems to be falling further and further behind the rest of the NFL re: our team speed. Our receivers get no respect(yards played off by the DBs)because they don't get off the line quick enough to earn it; our DBs/CBs give tons of it because they can't play man on opponents receivers, our LBs such as they are can not keep up w/TEs, or get to sidelines to get busted up circus dog Moreno on 2 end runs for TDs, and unless Weatherford kicks it 50 yards high our STs cant get to returner to force fair catches. Add that to this years lack of push by the front 4, and lack of push by the 'O' front 5, a QB that has no confidence in the OL and forces throws because he 'feels' the pressure, plus the self inflicted wounds, and it sits at 0-2 in need of a miracle. Very disappointed that FO and coaching staff did not address/chose to recognize. In todays game, speed covers a multitude of sins, power can deflect many as well.
And I know you must execute the plays given, but it helps to
make the playbook fit the specialties/skills of the players.
We could be looking at top 10 2014 draft picks.
Rooting for the miracle!
Eli is his own worst enemy.
section125 : 9/15/2013 9:20 pm : link
He just cannot avoid forcing it deep instead of getting the 1st down or the safe open play. The stupid pass before the half to lose the chance at the FG was just a reminder of the Eagles game last year. Cruz was open at the 12. That was a huge mistake, maybe a game changer.

The run blocking sucks, but the pass blocking is generally very good. While talent makes some difference, this is scheme and instruction failure.

The Red Zone offense is inept. This is a passing team. Why do they stop throwing down there and when they do the selection is awful.

Eli was just inept today. Did I say that yet.

Little things hurt this team too. Nicks dropping a third down pass and dislocating his finger while doing so.

Both Paysinger and Williams made the same mistake allowing Moreno to turn the corner and get TDs. This late in your football career you should know that you have to get to the corner and turn it back. If either of those two had done their job Moreno gets 2 yds because he's turned back into the pursuit.
Other than that I thought the defense was pretty good against Peyton.

Just a terrible job by the coaching staff at this point.

Probably not the best unit to target for underperformance.

Gilbride does not help the oline or Eli out. Adjustments need to be made to account for shortfalls in talent and he continues with the same offensive philosophy. On defense, we can't seem to get enough pressure on the QB anymore, so why doesn't Fewell come up with ome exotic blitzes to help?! Stubborness or ignorance?
Not only did we play awful..

Bad enough you have Ints due to miscommunications by the DB, but he compounded it with reckless, needless bombs into triple coverage. There was no need for that whatsoever and I have no idea what he was doing.

It drives me crazy that they don't use Wilson. If we're going to lose in the 4th, why isn't he in the game to gain experience, etc.? Also, to have a running game you have to actually run the ball with plays other then shotgun draws and the like.

What a frustrating game - actually, pair of games. Simply maddening. They should have been up at halftime, and then just came out after the half and was a disaster. It sound so silly, but they have to score touchdowns. MInd-numbing.

The Giants Need
mrvax : 9/15/2013 11:06 pm : link
to keep the defense fired up and understand their assignments well. The D has to get home more often with the front four.

Eli need to make better decisions.
Oline needs MAX AMOUNT OF PRACTICE time together. Know your assignments! Know the guy next to you his assignments.

Ball security. Randle needs a lesson on that.

This is fixable and fun. The Giants will close out the year with a nice winning streak.

And thought was bad, but not the sky is falling down bad that people are writing about here. Perhaps I should have known better than to think that BBI would be rational.

The comment I personally feel most akin to is
"We're cutting our nose to spite our face." It was very simple to see that a) Jacobs will have emotional appeal but no burst and b) Scott has absolutely no business touching a regular season game field. Yet,play in and play out, Coughlin kept putting them in over Wilson. Did Wilson fuck up last week; yes. But really? Does he put your QB and team in as much harm as not having a resemblance of running and forcing your QB to be down and therefore playing from behind and throwing the entire game? I do not think so.

I love Coughlin but this is just thick-headed. The o-line hasn't played together yet this year - did they suck tonight; absolutely. But they will get better. The DT's are playing awesome - the DE's will get there. The WR's are playing well, and honestly, I think Eli is as well.

I still have faith; but I believe this team needs to come together behind Wilson. When Coughlin lost his faith in him today, it honestly felt like the whole team lost faith in themselves. As Wilson goes, I believe this team goes. Others may and will disagree; but that's what I'm going all in on.
didn't matter who was the back
lalalalala : 9/15/2013 11:13 pm : link

they refused to run under center. outside the 5 they probably did it twice.

they have zero confidence in the running game, Wilson or no Wilson. they're a trainwreck right now. I don't know how they can play remotely efficient without running under center.

Watching Seattle vs SF now
Ralph.C : 9/15/2013 11:15 pm : link
Younger, faster and stronger line play.

Don't think we can fix that.

and I'm sure it's been brought up
lalalalala : 9/15/2013 11:20 pm : link

Randle left 4 on the board and Eli left 3 on the board in the first half, but Ball left an easy 7 on the table. so while they played an okay half... defensively at least, they really didn't deserve better than they got.

the thing that bothers me is that what looked like one of their worst units, the secondary, is one of their most "reliable".
The secondary shut down dallas
Ten Ton Hammer : 9/15/2013 11:39 pm : link
We should have won that game.

Today the secondary kept this from being a wire-to-wire blowout.

There's no problem with the secondary if you give them a lead to defend. They can't carry the team by itself. They're not that good.
Limiting Welker to just 3 catches
mrvax : 9/15/2013 11:51 pm : link
for 39 yards is a really nice accomplishment.

The Oline did open a hole on one running play. Jacobs found it and ripped off a nice 5 yard gain.
they also stopped Dez cold
lalalalala : 9/15/2013 11:55 pm : link

had problems with Austin in the slot but that's a big mismatch. really that's the only unit that's overperforming.

LB's have been decent in coverage too. but if you're going to lose in the trenches to the point you have no push defensively and can't line up under center offensively, you're screwed.
lets not overreact or anything
CGiants07 : 9/16/2013 12:22 am : link
the de's get a pass today on getting to Peyton since he hardly allows people to get to him unless there are blitzers.

Todays game was lost in the 1st half on offense when we left 12 points on the board against this bronco team we needed to score td's to win.

Interior Oline is a problem but its not our biggest, or next biggest, problem which is coughlin being stubborn with Wilson as he needs to get the bulk of the carries(15-20) as he is the only back who can make people miss.

Our 2nd problem is getting JPP back to 2011 form as our defense rellies on elite pass rushing and he is the only way getting in the rotation who does that or has done it in the past. Damonster not getting many/any reps at de is not a surprise given that this was his 1st action in a month.

The two areas I am actually happy with are our wide outs and secondary which are playing well and obviously the strength of the team currently.

Linebacker isn't very good and I think 1 play somes up the entire unit: when the wide out(I think Thomas) fumbled and the ball went right to herzlich where he couldn't recover and then broncos did and went on to score the clinching td.

Eli needs to protect the ball good teams don't have 7 interceptions in 2 games. I understand the OL sucks at run blocking but pass blocking they were alright most of the time. The fluke interception is a complete anomaly though.

Now I will admit I was very pissed after the game, not that we lost but how we lost, but after doing a workout for 45 minutes I came to 1 conclusion the sky isn't falling there are just a few storm clouds that dumped on us the last 2 weeks. I see sunny skies coming next week in Carolina as there defense is horrible and cam newton is holding onto the ball forever so our de's should be able to cause some disruption. The division leader is 1-1 so we are just 1 game back and it looks like 9-10 wins will be enough to win the division and looking at our schedule the next 7 games are much more winnable than the opening 2 games so hopefully they turn it around

giantgiantfan : 9/16/2013 12:45 am : link
Did anyone think we would really win before the game today? For me that was a much easier loss to deal with than last weeks. Now I'm watching a Seahawks team that looks unstoppable on defense and seeing that the Giants aren't in their league. Just accept it folks, we got 2 superbowls out of Eli, we might get another, but its not looking likely at this point.
is it me, or do they always lose when they have special ceremonies?
dvb : 9/16/2013 9:04 am : link
i could be wrong, but iirc, they lost when they retired Simms and LTs numbers. They lost when they had the ring of honor ceremony and last night was Parcells special night. Is it a coincidence? Maybe, but I hope we don't have any more "special" ceremonies for a long time.
