But there are 14 more games against lesser teams coming up. Denver is just the better team. Stop being such pussies and get ready for next week when they go and beat Carolina.
The offense needs to get its shit together. Maybe simplify things a bit? Who knows. The D gave them plenty of chances in both these games but they didnt do their part.
the offensive line is a huge problem. If there is one place on the field where the Giants are getting completely beaten, it is up front on offense. Can't control the line of scrimmage.
Snee was done or almost done the past few years and we did nothing at all to replace him or at least have a contingency plan in case surgery didn't help.
It really sickens me to think of all the hoopla concerning the new defensive line that had so much talent that we had to release good players. Patterson may have played great in the pre-season games, but did that justify cutting Austin, whose upside we did not know. After two games of an ineffective DL I will answer that question "No". And who can explain where the 2011 version of JPP went.
And Wilson is looking like Reese's biggest bust. I'm sure that the Giants really wanted to draft Doug Martin but Tampa Bay outwitted Reese. So he took the next back on his list, instead of the best player on his list. The NFL just doesn't draft running backs in the first round anymore.
Missing the playoffs for the fourth time in five years will cause us to lose all the good will that we established winning the two Super Bowls. We will now be just another team with just another quarterback.
(I realize that I'm being ridiculously pessimistic after only the 2nd game of the season, but it helps to vent. And I can't understand where the pass rush went.)
Why are they not throwing bombs to Cruz on every play?
we can stuff runs up the middle but don't get any real pressure from the D-end's
we've got a decentish secondary with no depth at Safety.
Marginal at best talent at linebacker
And the defense is the best unit on the team by a mile at the moment.
On offense it's more marginal talent at TE, marginal talent at RB with the exception of Wilson who has talent but is a situational player at them moment. We've got stellar talent at WR but we have a gaping hole in our interior OL line which is another unit where we have lots of salary sunk for little current return.
At QB we have Eli who simply makes far too many bone headed throws into coverage far far too often.
It could all come together, it probably won't. Given the other results we're not too far back but I'm not sure this suddenly gets better.
always going to be a tough team to win. Peyton is so freaking good that you're just not going to shut him down. I thought the D did OK in not giving away a lot of easy stuff - they tackled well, people were generally covered, etc. But they didn't make many big (any?) big plays, so really the just ended up being speed bumps against a very powerful O.
To win we were going to need one of our outstanding games from the O. We'll still get some of them this year - I'm sure they still exist. Unfortunately, today wasn't one of them. Even though the game was close, those 1st half missed opportunities were the end of us for this game. You can't keep Peyton down for long and it was just a matter of time until Denver got their points.
Miserable game, but I'm not too torn up about it. Denver is way better than we are. Peyton is unstoppable right now. Playoffs-wise, we just have to be better than the NFCE, and the other 3 teams aren't very good. It's still a little disappointing to see how far away were are from the good teams though. Denver is missing Miller and Bailey and we got a ton of calls in this game.
But out coached and out smarts itself. This game was lost because the players were not given the chance to match up and beat the opponent. Schemes suck, totally out coached.
I am so confused by their lack of just lining up and trying to get some kind of a ground game going. Also the way they just chuck the ball all over the place is ridiculous. Defensively I hate Perry Fewell and can't stand their linebackers.
no apparent silver lining and among many problems is that this team cannot run the football. They will go absolutely no where this year if that is not fixed.
Maybe an OC in round 3. And just for good measure take another interior OL man in round 5. Screw the grades on other positions.
Would be a good idea to sign a a couple of FA OL men, and maybe trade for 1. And I say invite all the undrafted rookie FAs they can find, maybe we'll find the next Cruz of the OL.
Let it be motherfucking battle of all OL battles of all time.
Oh & JR needs to find to cut Snee & Baas and still find cap room for whatever other needs we have, because TC will never trust the young guys... He'll probably want Diehl, Snee, and Baas back as starters again.
including the supposedly unstoppable 2007 Pats, by beating up the QB. We don't do that anymore and Payton was for the most part extremely comfortable in the pocket. That's what's worrying me about the defense, despite playing well for stretches this year.
half of football. Denvers first two td came when yet again the offense ends up giving them the ball back at midfield. And again we've had 3+ turnovers on the offense.
We've got shit lb's but they didn't throw away the game, the offense did.
the DLine this offseason?? I'm sure we will get more pressure with getting more DE's right?? Oh wait lets completely ignore the LB position too?? Whats the difference between the Giants & Broncos? They have a better oline!!!! All the best dominate teams make that a priority year and year out!! Online is key to getting far!! Reeese completely ignored that to in the offseason.. Just a bad offseason from a Organization stand point. Oh throw 2 horrible OC & DC in the mix and you got a disaster for a season.. Someone screw up..
early and the Offense just couldn't deliver today. Terrible play calling, terrible use of personal, terrible tempo. They put all the weight on Eli and he just didn't get it done.
We are witnessing what happened last year with what this coaching staff did with Diehl with Snee this year. This team makes so many bone head mistakes, lack of execution; how many missed sacks and players not following through resulted in big plays?
It looks like it will be a long year yet again, fortunately this division is very evenly ranked; so always will have a shot. But honestly, if this team doesn't get some chemistry going and a pass rush than we might as well just pack it in.
It's only week 2 so we have a little time to get it figured out.
as I type:
Peyton with 9 TDs
Eli with 7 picks to start the season...yeah long season indeed.
the last time, the lack of pressure by the DL was not a problem. JPP is still rounding into shape, and we rarely rushed more than four. The game plan was to play more in coverage, starting with a 4-2-5 alignment. I do agree that Tuck looks like he is done.
The real problem is the terrible interior play of the OL. And the "villain" for this is Coughlin and Gilbride. Coughlin has too much loyalty to veterans, i.e. O'Hara, Diehl, and now Snee, his son in law.
Are going to be rarer than a Virgin in a whore house with this running game because the defense does not need to play up at ALL and there is zero play action threat.
to one point? They marched 80 yards and scored like it was a piece of cake. The LB's are not quick enough to stop 3rd and longs. They can't stay with guys man to man and they aren't aware enough to play well in zone. They can't get off blocks either. They are atrocious.
with this system. Same fucking shit over and over and over every god damn year!!! Miscommunications that result in god awful shit. Bad passes all day I can live with but when the fucking WR isn't in the frame that's a big problem.
The offense needs to get its shit together. Maybe simplify things a bit? Who knows. The D gave them plenty of chances in both these games but they didnt do their part.
No point getting him Brown'd
today? despite leaving 14-20 pts on the board in the first half? cut it to 17-16 and then somehow get 21 dropped on us in a matter of 5min
just irritating.
What a sad showing by these guys. Right now, this is a bad football team. Period. End of story.

How about the fact that we have literally zero NFL linebackers? or that the d-Line is completely inept at getting pressure?
To win we were going to need one of our outstanding games from the O. We'll still get some of them this year - I'm sure they still exist. Unfortunately, today wasn't one of them. Maybe they were wrong to do so and they misevaluated, but there was no What-If? there.
I have Nicks on my team throw a TD to him
The trend is very bad, though. The Giants played terrible ball late last season and have picked up where they left off.
Would be a good idea to sign a a couple of FA OL men, and maybe trade for 1. And I say invite all the undrafted rookie FAs they can find, maybe we'll find the next Cruz of the OL.

Randles fumbling at the 1 for a touchback
Eli's endzone interception in the endzone to close out the half.
They should have had at least 17 points from those drives. Instead they had 3. That's basically it IMO. This team is making lots of mistakes.
We've got shit lb's but they didn't throw away the game, the offense did.

It's bad,
