With a Giants win and a Cowboys loss on Sunday - both entirely within the realm of possibility - the Giants will be in a tie for first place in the NFC East.
Let's not blow up the team just yet, shall we?
If you really look at the whole NFC, SF and Seattle are really good and better than everyone else. There are then a group of teams who are pretty closely bunched together - all with their own issues:
(Giants, Dal, Was, GB, Chi, NO, Atl, Det)
The issue is that the SF/Sea non division winner is going to be a WC team. That means will be a lot of teams vying for WC. The NFC East is clearly in the Giants grasp
...and we are already hoping for other teams to help us out so that the season isn't lost.
Kinda reminds one of the 2007 season in a way. Took a goal line stand in the 3rd game to wake up the defense.
Wonder if the OL wakes up this week..?..
somehow pull one out Sunday, I see them finishing the first quarter at 1-3. I just can't see them going to KC and get a win there. KC is playing extremely well on defense and they do not turn the ball over. With that said, I don't know what it's going to take to win this division. This could be a 9-7 Division winner season for the NFC East. 8-8 might even do it this year?!
of suck. We're headed for 1-3 folks.
Christ, look at the Dodgers. It's way to early to make pronouncements about any team. The Chiefs are 3-0 and they sure as hell didn't look like world beaters last night.
But we're 2-2 come October 1st.
are head and shoulders above any of the NFC East teams. Atlanta because of all their injuries. The east sucks.
new Orleans is not good. almost lost to tampa (who sucks) and should have lost to Atlanta at home with roddy white being nothing more than a decoy except s-jax dropped a pass for a game winning TD
under Ryan's 3-4. Their offense hasn't gotten in gear yet, but Tampa has a decent defense. Especially in the back 7.
and has been for several years now. There certainly won't be a WC team coming out of the east.
KC is beatable. Alex Smith was so indecisive until he started go with the slant. Eagles Dline had a field day too.
nobody is running away with the division this year.
of a 3-13 division champion is still alive!
will likely beat Carolina, Eagles can be easily beaten twice. KC just didn`t look that imposing last night and will revert to their proper level. We can handle Chicago and Minnesota, that is not 5-3 at the break, but the traditional 6-2. And Oakland after the break, would be 7-2. After that, we will see.
is better than it looks right now. The Eagles have an entirely new system and coach, and it will take time for them to work out the kinks with their personnel. The Giants can't be this bad all season, and the Skins hinge upon RGIII who is still getting back to game form. The first two weeks were effectively preseason for him.
if the Giants played like SF did in Seattle that nobody would be calling them one of the top 2 teams in the league.
Just another example of how perceptions become warped on this board.
for us to have a very good shot at winning the division and that's the QB. Had Eli played at his 2011 level last year we probably make the playoffs then also, so its not a given it's goign to happen. But this division is very weak right now and if Eli is playing at an elite level I liek our chances to win it, even if the pass rush and running game don't come around. The playoffs now are a different story, but the division? That's ours if Eli can get his head out of his ass.
with new systems, new position coaches, and unhealthy skill players... why are the Giants with the same HC/OC/DC/QB, and mostly healthy skill players on both sides of the ball struggling?
The Giants are so damn confounding.
2010- 20 W 20 L
2011- 19 W 21 L
2012- 18 W 22 L
2013- 0 W 5 L
Not since 2009 has the NFC East been above .500 out of division play. That's also the last time the division had an 11 win team, which is the longest drought of any division (and as we can see above, its not because the east is so good that everyone beats each other up)
minor correction. We went 18-22 in 2011 and 19-21 last year. Same record ovder the 4 years though. 57 W 68 L
for every 0-2 team. I hope the Giants understand the gravity and elevate themselves above it. A loss here means a lost season is incredibly likely.
has become the AFC West of a few years ago.
