he will refute what Chase said and deny the Panthers knew what was coming.
Gilbride is the type of guy who believes he is smarter than everyone else which explains why his in game adjustments are so poor and why he also does not change calls or make adjustments when facing an opponent who has an ex-giant on that team.
To me, it is Gilbride's major failing as a OC...his arrogance.
You said it best!! If Gilbride is OC next year, I won't be watching the Giants. I knew on the first damn drive, chase gave them some good info about the offense.
that the OC is the fault here? He has shortcomings as does every coach, but we should have been planning better for Diehl and Snee falling off their respective cliffs because with a solid line Wilson and the 3 Amigos at WR would thrive.
He may not be the only issue. He is a veteran coach, if he needs me make big time adjustments to his scheme to compensate for what's going on then he needs to do it. The question is will he? It seems like the attitude is this is our offense, we will win or lose with it. Fuck, run something different to help generate momentum.
With Tim Carter and Mario, weren't we running reverses often? Do something different as a tendency breaker. Something has to change, let's see or hear what both coordinators have to say today.
Gilbride will be OC next year unless Coach Coughlin retires...
of two title teams, the second of which was carried completely by the offense, doesn't get Gilbride a head coaching position, I'm thinking his window is slammed shut.

Per Giants' writers, G Chris Snee + C David Baas not on the field for today's practice. Expect at least one - maybe both - to sit out Sun.
the coming offseason, the Giants have to rid themselves of high-priced veterans who are underperforming, but they also have to dump these guys who just are hurt all of the time.
that's what BBI wants, but that group is so green it will get its ass kicked too. Just wait for the stunts and blitzes to confuse the hell out of them.
seemed to hold up well enough on opening night. So really all you're asking is to replace Snee with Mosely.
If you want to tell me Mosely doesnt know what the hell he's doing out there, I wouldnt be able to argue that but physically he's got to be better than Snee at this point with, now, 2 bad hips.
Besides, we're 0-3, this IS panic mode time. You do whatever it takes to try to improve the line.
the constantly hurt players need to go. I may give Williams another year to see if he can right it as he at least has value in the sub packages on defense
but the constantly hurt guys need to go.
I don't know why they will play cordle. we KNOW he sucks. at least with boothe at C and mosley and brewer at guards or Diehl at a G, there is the potential for that group to improve. cordle is shit and you can debate if he should even be on the team
I share your fear... Eli is one of, if not the hardest working member of this team and he is in real danger of getting hurt behind this line. He can't keep taking this kind of punishment every week. If he gets hurt, NYG is REALLY done for this year.
Hoping for some improvement on the OL this week vs Chiefs DL
I played O-Line my whole life and coached it. I ain't saying I am an expert by any stretch but I know and love the intricacies of O-line play and watching Cordle play in the pre-season was the absolute worst I have ever seen a center play football. He was physically whipped so many times its not funny. The guy should not even be on the roster never mind starting a game that could all but end the season.
That's not the team to expect demonstrable improvement against
to put a 4 man offensive line in front of him and have the defense come in hard. That will be the best way to simulate for Sunday by the looks of things.
be surprised if Coughlin plays Mosley and Brewer. It will be one or another at most. And even that isn't a given. He might try:
Beatty, Boothe, Cordle, Diehl, Pugh.
That would be a nightmare, but it would preserve his long term track record of never playing Brewer or Mosley, let alone both at the same time. Diehl was awful when healthy. Can you imagine how he'll play with a busted finger and no work for what, six weeks? He tries hard and is a warrior, but it's over. It's over for him, Snee, Baas, Boothe, and Cordle.
is Robinson's second year. It's looking like he won't be seeing much time this season, which means that next year, in his third year, he'll essentially be a rookie. We've seen that before.
I can agree with that. However, we need people to fill those spots and I trust zero people as backups coming in. Hopefully, in the off season we can really address the OL position.
Eric,
I agree with your statements regarding useless vets and injury prone players.
but his handling of the O-line has already had a direct negative impact on 2 seasons. I'd hate to see this again.
At this point we know Baas, Snee and Diehl are all either hurt, ineffective or both.
Jim Cordle is terrible.
You insert Brewer and Mosely because they are both big, young, healthy bodies. Are they inexperienced? Sure. But these are the cards they have been dealt by not so great roster management. The season is on life support, the time to be conservative has come and gone.
to hide a bad Oline is have a mobile QB back there..look at Rodgers...their offensive line is awful or at least it has been in recent years and Rodgers continually bailed them out..
1.it gives the young guys like Mosely and Brewer an opportunity. Maybe one of them surprises and takes the job from Snee or Baas.
2. it gives Snee and Baas time to heal. Who knows whether they can ever heal enough to play well. But right now, neither one is an NFL caliber lineman. Snee is also a gamer who doesn't ask out.
Two Young guys may be better than broken Baas and Snee
I agree - At this point I am wondering if starting the younger, healthier (and less experienced) linemen might be better than the 'broken' Snee and Baas.
Sadly I do. Something has to change or else we may actually be picking top 5. With KC, Eagles, and bears on the horizon we have a shot at going 0-6! Problem is we like to invest in project developmental picks. We picked Petrus and Koets who didn't work out. Now we have back up guys who we are developing with the assumption the vets could still play. Now with age and injuries kicking in, we are in a spot where these guys have to play.
All this shit show going on in Eli's prime. So in essence, we can't run block for shit, and now we are having issues pass blocking. I feel bad for Eli now. Maybe our defense can win some games for us.
That is the worst part, any time wasted during Eli's prime years is too much.
Who knows when we get a franchise QB this good again... we should be squeezing every damn game out of him until he is gone... and between bad OLine play and (at least for some of us) the belief that a different O system would be better for Eli, we are wasting valuable seasons missing the playoffs.
I agree a lot of missed playoff appearances. We can't afford to have a rebuilding or re-tooling time frame of 2-3 years. We are going to have to hit a home run in the draft AND have an off signing free agency home run like Accorsi had. We need an offseason where we drafted Webster, Jacobs, and Tuck AND have a free agency period where we signed Burress, AP, and Kareem McKenzie.
That will help us right away. I am not sure if we can hit home runs like that, but we sure as hell need an off season like that to get us back up again.
were benched and disguised with "injuries". Too much of a coincidence that our worst o'linemen all of a sudden can't start because they are hurt but finished the game last week.
True, but any given sunday. We are playing in a hostile stadium with exactly what OL? If Baas and Snee don't play then what does our OL look like?
Beatty-Boothe-Cordle-Mosley-Pugh?
That's fucking reassuring. If I am KC I will blitz the ever living shit of our OL. Cordle is a shit show of a center. Blitz A gap and hit Eli right in his grill. We can't run block worth a damn. So yeah, there is a way we lose this game.
Now will we? That's a different story. But we could easily loss this game. If the offense sucks, let's see how much fight the defense plays with before they mentally check out.
Then I think it will be Brewer at RG. That's where he has spent most of his practice time. When he played at LG he said it was the first time he'd practiced/played there. I'd rather see Boothe at C and Mosley/Brewer at LG/RG.
And I will be stunned if we cross the 5 or 6 win barrier this year. We are 0-3 and getting worse, with little OL depth and a neutered DL. This is going to get much much uglier.
of a team that has an Upper Tier, franchise QB (I won't use the term "Elite') in his prime, is less than 2 years removed from a SB win and can't crack the 5 win mark?
I honestly cannot think of one. And if that happens this year, it is a real indictment of the entire organization. What a waste.
However it must be pointed out that Eli is not exactly the most mobile of QB.s In fact he not very quick or agile when facing a rush. And he seems to lack feel or finesse when doing short stuff, screens, pitchouts, flairs and even short slants.Hey I like Eli, glad he's our QB. So don't jump all over me. Just pointing out where he's vulnerable.
then Eli needs to work harder on developing his game with the short stuff. I am not saying he turns into Joe Montana overnight, but in my view he has actually regressed in this area over the years.
Jacquain Williams is hurt often but thing is, he shouldn't be expected to be a pivotal player for this team. They're banking on him covering TE's and backs, but if he's hurt, they have no one like him. And he might be the most talented LB, it's a sad, sad group.
They need to dump, like Eric said, many overpriced vets and guys who aren't healthy enough or fit with the system. For instance on defense, we may see the following guys gone after the year (based on age, contract, or ability):
Justin Tuck, Mathias Kiwanuka, Linval Joseph, Shaun Rogers, Mike Patterson, Mark Herzlich, Spencer Paysinger, Jacquain Williams, Dan Connor, Keith Rivers, Corey Webster, Aaron Ross, Terrell Thomas, Antrell Rolle, Stevie Brown, and Ryan Mundy.
Good grief.
That leaves the 'safe' ones: Damontre Moore, Jason Pierre Paul, Cullen Jenkins, Jonathan Hankins, Prince Amukamara, Jayron Hosley, Cooper Taylor
I hope that happens but with the way shit is going he goes hot, Cruz reads something else and that could be a pick 6. Let's see how this plays out. My guess is Circle gets lifted and duck walked right into Eli .
That would be the 1st question I would ask.

Waiting for the tweet that says there will be a change at OC.

If you're hoping to ease your frustration by looking for major changes you're going to disappointed(IMHO).
At least I really, really hope not.
Pretty sure I remember Antonio Pierce giving away secrets for the Giants against his former Redskins team back in 2005 when we shut them out, 36-0.
And while picking on coaches, I think the linebacker coach should be upgraded.
Nuff said.

I'm expecting some respectable improvement from them (fingers crossed).
Dontari Poe may pick him apart like ribs.
Beatty Mosley Boothe Brewer Pugh.
hey who knows maybe these guys are the next kickass oline.

Generally speaking backup are backups for a reason. But you know as well as i do that with this head coach, the veteran starter status trumps all.
1.it gives the young guys like Mosely and Brewer an opportunity. Maybe one of them surprises and takes the job from Snee or Baas.

The chefs arent invincible, Alex fucking Smith is garbage.
What pisses me off is sticking with veterans that can't get it done and you have to dump soon anyway.
Let's not have the same problems next year AGAIN with unknowns all over the OL.
Smith is a terrible QB to play in a game when you're playing from behind.
But if the game is 21-6 KC, it's a different story. He's great at managing, playing steady, and never getting near a turnover.
Beatty-Boothe-Cordle-Mosley-Pugh?

It was a 1 point game going into the 4thq Vs denver. It was a close game.
This offense has been playing with short deck all year. Coughlin has no choice to play brewer and mosley now.
Lets see how they do.

No more DB's in the first round, they simply aren't worth it in this league anymore. Draft OL and DL.
