Prince Amukamara After The Dwayne Bowe Salsa...

AD-Blaze : 9/30/2013 10:59 am
In the midst of what was another disappointing Sunday of New York Giants Football I took a good bit of satisfaction seeing Prince run over to Bowe and giving him a piece of his mind in the endzone after the Bowe's salsa dance. I can only imagine what Prince may have said, but I'm sure it wasn't him asking how the Bowe family is doing. Prince tends to catch a whole lot of flack on these boards but I will say this, the kid is becoming a favorite of mines. I'm not basing that off of him getting in Bowe's face for doing the salsa dance, but his overall play this year has been outstanding. He's fast, physical and doesn't shy away from contact at all. Kudos to Prince so far for what has been a pretty shitty football season so far.

I thought

McCluster did the Salsa dance after his punt return for TD.
That's the type of stuff we need to start looking at now...
Britt in VA : 9/30/2013 11:00 am : link
and evaluating exactly who we want here next year and who we don't.

On the same token, Hakeem Nicks is writing his ticket out of town.
I liked that too
pjcas18 : 9/30/2013 11:01 am : link
but based on what I've read and seen of Prince I imagined the conversation was something like:

"sir, I find your celebratory behavior in that end zone to be disrespectful to my teammate, I would appreciate if you can refrain from such mocking behavior if you happen to reach the end zone in the future"
Why shouldn't Bowe have been doing a salsa dance?
vibe4giants : 9/30/2013 11:01 am : link
Getting in someone's face while they celebrate a TD is the least impressive thing Prince has done in an otherwise impressive 4 games.
When Burkhardt said they were missing their best Cover corner
Ten Ton Hammer : 9/30/2013 11:02 am : link
(Webster) I had a nice laugh.
Britt,

I'm a big fan of Nicks and sort of agree... His effort on that incompletion pissed me off.
I agree I liked
JCin332 : 9/30/2013 11:03 am : link
seeing that too..Prince is da man..
To me, Nicks doesn't look like he's giving full effort out there...
Britt in VA : 9/30/2013 11:04 am : link
and as you saw yesterday, his three drops of catchable balls, you can't just turn it on and off.
pjcas,
Curtis in VA : 9/30/2013 11:04 am : link
hahaha.
Prince has been awesome. We need another CB on the other side of the
Ace718 : 9/30/2013 11:04 am : link
field. That and a few O-lineman, linebackers, safeties, etc...
Giants have a guy that dances like that
schabadoo : 9/30/2013 11:05 am : link
So why give Bowe a hard time?
Maybe I'm missing it, but who doesn't like Prince?
Greg from LI : 9/30/2013 11:05 am : link
He's generally acknowledged as our best defensive player.
Prince is our
G2 : 9/30/2013 11:07 am : link
best corner since Mark Collins.

gmen9892 : 9/30/2013 11:09 am : link
The reason why he gave him shit was because he was clearly making fun of Cruz when he did the dance. Prince was sticking up for his teammate, which I love.
Greg from LI
AD-Blaze : 9/30/2013 11:12 am : link
Prince was often labeled "injury prone" and "soft" by people around here. Him getting dumped in the cold tub didn't help shed the soft label either. I think we can throw all of those labels out of the window now though.
I didn't have a problem with it
ghost718 : 9/30/2013 11:13 am : link
You want to dance around while the team is 0-3,you can take a little bit of that
Making fun of Cruz?
vibe4giants : 9/30/2013 11:14 am : link
Holy shit. It's a freaking little dance. When he does it in someone else's house, and they wind up killing the Giants, it's totally reasonable for them to give some back.

What's Prince going to say? 'Hey, that's Victor's dance!!! How dare you do that!!!"

Be impressed by his play, sure. But a fake tough guy act over...dancing? Some of you set a really low bar.
Cruz and Prince and Eli and JPP
djm : 9/30/2013 11:15 am : link
are the best players on this team. They are part of the solution going forward.
If you do a stupid dance after a TD,
Go Terps : 9/30/2013 11:15 am : link
expect to be mocked when things don't go well. Same as that stupid basketball celebration a few years back.
Vibe
AD-Blaze : 9/30/2013 11:17 am : link
You are completely missing the point here.
If only the offense showed the same amount of heart...
eclipz928 : 9/30/2013 11:17 am : link
The Giants D has been the whipping boy for the team for some time now, but it's apparent that there has been a shift there in attitude and performance - particularly out of the secondary.

Its shame that there's no reciprocation from the offense, who has put the D in a bad spot every single week this season. Other than David Wilson, its hard to argue that any of those guys are playing with any pride or intensity.
I was thinking he said
GiantWarrior : 9/30/2013 11:17 am : link
“Don’t get too excited Bowe… You couldn’t score while I was covering you”

You know guys, in a season like this....
Britt in VA : 9/30/2013 11:18 am : link
things like sticking up for your teammates, and sticking up for your coach (like the Tuck thread) actually do mean something.

There is something to be said for personal and team pride when it comes to figuring out who will be the good character people in your lockerroom long term.

There is merit in it.
Agreed with Terps and Vibe on this one
Greg from LI : 9/30/2013 11:18 am : link
I'm sure other teams didn't like Cruz's salsa dancing over the years, and so the Chiefs threw it back in the Giants' faces. Live by the salsa, die by the salsa.
That team was 2-14 last season
Ten Ton Hammer : 9/30/2013 11:18 am : link
and they're riding the wave.

I don't really care what they do.

With this offense, we couldn't score to overcome a 10 point deficit.

A year ago, Prince was a bust nursing an ankle injury.

He was soft, had issues with his teammates ("different"), and even some latent homophobia thrown in for good measure...you know, the usual BBI stuff thinks when a player isn't instantly a Pro Bowler.
Prince
pjcas18 : 9/30/2013 11:20 am : link
is gay?
I think the distinction is nobody here is pissed that Bowe did it.
Britt in VA : 9/30/2013 11:20 am : link
They are happy that Prince, a defensive player, stuck up for Cruz, an offensive player.

It's a team pride thing. It's not in the least about Bowe in any way.
he is?
I Love Clams Casino : 9/30/2013 11:22 am : link
maybe he should call Strahan..isn't he gay?
Rob
Greg from LI : 9/30/2013 11:23 am : link
I know that was the consensus before the season, but I thought he won a lot of people over with his play last year. Maybe I just assume everyone sees what I see, I don't know.
pjcas
Rob in NYC : 9/30/2013 11:24 am : link
He isn't (I think he is engaged) - but there was some speculation here because of some scouting reports that characterized him as different, and people were taking that as code.

He seems rather quiet and soft-spoken.
No, I get the point.
vibe4giants : 9/30/2013 11:26 am : link
It's not complicated. You think Prince standing up for Cruz's cute little dance is a big deal.

I think it's yet another misdirected waste of energy from players who have much bigger, more important things to concentrate on. It's yet another empty gesture from a team that postures and talks more than it performs. It impresses me as much as Rolle talking big on the radio. Ohhhhhh, fiery! What a leader!

You don't like people dancing? Stop them before they get into the endzone. Once they've scored on you, jog back to the sidelines and figure out what you could have done better.

KC had reason to dance yesterday. The Giants didn't. That's the point. The rest of this is silly bullshit.
Greg
Rob in NYC : 9/30/2013 11:27 am : link
I think consensus has definitely shifted, but it goes to show that BBI isn't forward thinking - if you suck now, you are going to suck forever...
I know Rob
pjcas18 : 9/30/2013 11:27 am : link
I was just kidding.

Prince has been the best player on the defense all year.

And overall (per PFF) he's the 4th best CB in the entire NFL behind Revis, Grimes, and Leon Hall.
Team pride? Ha.
vibe4giants : 9/30/2013 11:28 am : link
That's not where the team needs to be finding their pride.

Yeah, we're 0-4. But nobody makes fun of our dancing!

Please.
PJ
Ten Ton Hammer : 9/30/2013 11:28 am : link
are those recent PFF numbers? I'd love to see them. I'm a fan of their stats.
Did I say it was a big deal?
Britt in VA : 9/30/2013 11:30 am : link
I just said I liked that he did it.

Sorry, continue freakout session in all facets.
pjcas - sorry
Rob in NYC : 9/30/2013 11:31 am : link
was just clarifying. And I am not all that surprised by that comment - Prince has been very, very good.
So if a guy hits a homerun
Headhunter : 9/30/2013 11:32 am : link
and poses, you dont hit him the next at bat because you should never have given up the home run. Got it
Yes
pjcas18 : 9/30/2013 11:33 am : link
as of this morning (so not all the 4pm or night game in yet, but I doubt it changes too much)...

Here is paste of the positional rankings....

Britt, not remotely freaking out.
vibe4giants : 9/30/2013 11:35 am : link
The thread started over this meaningless little nothing of an event is the 'freaking out' over nothing. I'm just offering a reasoned opinion as to why it's not an event worth singling out. You offered further defense of the OP that I don't buy. And I responded to that, as we do.

Perhaps those actually freaking out are the ones realizing that the glass is not even half full? And trying to convince themselves these little meaningless things are reasons to feel positive?
winnning our losing
Headhunter : 9/30/2013 11:39 am : link
you can take a stand if you feel disrespected
Man, I wish I had those numbers when I made my Prince thread last week
Ten Ton Hammer : 9/30/2013 11:41 am : link
Thanks PJ.
People that are looking for small positives...
Britt in VA : 9/30/2013 11:43 am : link
do not need to be beat down on every thread.

It's not neccessary.
I'd like to see them lock Prince up
Headhunter : 9/30/2013 11:43 am : link
they got him cheaper than they should have because he was a top 10 pick that slid, double down and lock him up
Hey, perhaps the Chiefs felt disrespected by the dance
vibe4giants : 9/30/2013 11:45 am : link
in their house? And maybe they felt like demonstrating their total dominance by the end of the game? We own you and your dance.

Again, only one team had reason to dance last yesterday. You guys are bothered by/impressed with some weird shit.

I care about football. You can have the dancing.
That play against Denver
pjcas18 : 9/30/2013 11:45 am : link
to Andre Caldwell on Prince (36 yard reception) skews his numbers a little and it was dumb. I didn't think in a million years they'd throw it there, and I think 9 times out of 10 Prince covers that.

Thank you for letting us
Headhunter : 9/30/2013 11:48 am : link
have it, sincerely, thank you
I'm not on every thread, Britt.
vibe4giants : 9/30/2013 11:50 am : link
I'm on this one.

You can be in any mood you want, man. And continue to see whatever positives you want. But I'm also going to continue to say what I think about what I see. I'm sorry for both of us that my less sunshiny perspective appears to be a more accurate assessment of the team. You want to counter my arguments here, fine. Do it. But just saying 'Hey, let's talk about the positives of our 0-4 team not matter how small or how insignificant.' Nah. I don't have to adopt your eyes any more than you have to adopt mine.
I'm speaking in general.
Britt in VA : 9/30/2013 11:51 am : link
It's absolutely happening on every thread.
