but too many missed opportunities. Players have to understand everyone has a role and every play is important...
Points to failed 3rd and 1 toss to Wilson...three guys missed blocks. You toss to create natural seams for Wilson but three guys drew blanks. Players have to understand they need to earn every yard...
Da' Rel Scott dropped screen pass...importance is that play would have gone for about 40 yards. Says margin of error too slim for Giants right now and there is no comeback with Eli under current circumstances.
So, what he's saying is that they all just need to try harder. So, I guess that means that the reason why they stink is only because they aren't giving full effort.
The lack of talent doesn't enter into the equation?
but players not executing...cites Wilson 3rd and 1 run, Myers dropping pass and Scott's drop...all makeable plays that Gilbride made a good call but players goofed.
they always say that when a guy drops one. Exactly how many screen passes go for 40 yds? All the time a guy has a convoy and they still can't get the one guy blocked and it goes for like 10 instead of a big play. I know it's splitting hairs but I just don't like being presumptuous.
Scott dropped 2 easy passes and fumbled a handoff. Â
Wilson HAS to get a tone of touches. We have to find out what we have there going forward in planning for the future. I don't think he interferes often, but Reese needs to make that clear to this coaching staff.
what it is...they are rebuilding and restructuring there and it is going to be a struggle which is why it is so important to take advantage of every opportunity.
Notably, and it wasn't brought up either, he did not talk about Nicks nor did he talk about JPP and the defensive end issues.
His key message was that the Giants have to stick together and get through this together.
He said he knows it's cliché but it is the only way they will improve.
I'm sure I've asked this before but would it be beyond the realms of everything that is sane to have Carl Banks on the defensive staff. As an adviser or assistant, the title doesn't matter. The man knows the Giants and he knows defense.
to stick Francessa's pompous attitude up his fat ass. The first thing Carl should have said today should have been, "The Giants quit in the fourth quarter yesterday".
Do with either his ability to pick up blitzes, or his inability to figure out his assignment. As much as I'd like to see Wilson get 80 or 90% of the snaps, he still looks out of rythym or unsure when it comes to finding a man to block.
i believe we led against Denver at one point early in the game... 6-3 or something
additionally to GEEMAN thats why the coaches are boneheads.. arguably your most explosive player in Wilson gets benched for 2 bad fumbles, yet we continue to let Scott fark up the joint and split touches between him and ineffective Jacobs...
ummm OK
Actually, we were tied with Dallas at 3 before they pulled ahead. Â
After the Carolina game they said the Giants had held a lead for a grand total of 11 minutes in three complete games, which was the worst in football, and obviously that didn't improve this week.
Christ, this is a bad team. At least the last time the Giants were a truly bad team, 2003, they had a lot of injuries as a contributing factor. This crew is just plain bad. Even the lousy 1995-96 teams were usually in the game because of a solid defense, they just could never score enough to win.
I'm sure there were missed blocks but why call that play in the 1st place? I would like to see some stats on how often the sweep works for the Giants under Gilbride on 3rd and short. How about calling a play that doesn't require the RB to gain 6-8 yds just to make the 1st? You are giving the D too many chances to make a stop.
At 0-4, this team isn't going any where so time to start thinking about the future. A lot of the kid's problems are due to lack of experience. He isn't going to improve as a pass blocker for example by standing on the sidelines in passing situations.
The dropped screen pass by Scott could have gone for 40 yards..

Said D played well, created turnovers but they still gave up too many points.
Ouch.
Giants, at this point, need to seize every opportunity and they are not doing that.
The lack of talent doesn't enter into the equation?
However, he says you have to understand who is back there receiving the punts.
Says effort was good but execution is terrible especially the young players.

Those touches may as well go to Wilson who has shown better hands since game 1.

Tiki had superb vision. Maybe Wilson can develop that, I'm not sure. He does have elite acceleration. I'm concerned that he lacks elite RB instincts.
Of course, the line play is hindering him greatly. It makes it difficult to evaluate him objectively.
He must have heard TCs presser after the Carolina game. Catch up Carl.
