More info on Reynolds
spike : 10/1/2013 4:08 pm : link
"Reynolds, 6-4 and 320 pounds, originally joined the Eagles as a rookie free agent on May 1, 2009. He spent the majority of the 2009 season (when he as on the active roster for the seasons final game, but did not play) and the entire 2010 and 2011 seasons on Philadelphias practice squad before making the 53-man roster last year. He played in all 16 games in 2012 and when Jason Kelce suffered two torn knee ligaments in Week 2, Reynolds stepped in as the starting center.

Reynolds earned first-team All-Mountain West honors in 2008 at BYU, where he started 51 career games. He played center as a senior and left tackle as a junior."

I like it. More Cox.

Del Shofner : 10/1/2013 4:09 pm : link
"The Giants also made a move on their practice squad, signing wide receiver Marcus Harris and terminating the contract of offensive lineman Steven Baker a reversal of transactions made a week ago today."
I was sick of seeing Scott
gmen9892 : 10/1/2013 4:10 pm : link
Had a fumble last game and a huger dropped screen that would have been a huge play. Not to mention the screen he botched in the first game that essentially ended any chance of a comeback.
They should drop Pascoe next
Curtis in VA : 10/1/2013 4:10 pm : link
and sign a LB.

Hopefully Conner is ready to play soon.
Just keep Wilson in the game, give him the ball 20+ times

That's a big center, no?

so many snaps at Wilson's expense the last 3 games..
I'd love to know why
Pego61 : 10/1/2013 4:11 pm : link
he'd been getting so many snaps. Wilson should be getting 75% of the RB time on the field. Period.
About time. Maybe they get get to Jernigan now.

perhaps Cox is further along now.. and in addition the team is waiting on Brown to return..

Victor in CT : 10/1/2013 4:14 pm : link
Brown blows. Tynes missed from 54 and gets blamed for a loss. This clown misses from 38, then from 44 in a 10-7 game. Terrible.
Jim Cordle is 320?

And let's not forget - the coaches gave D. Scott the start this past

week. It's very simple TC/KG: Wilson starts at RB and Connor at FB. Let them play! Let them play! Let them play!
this means
SHO'NUFF : 10/1/2013 4:16 pm : link
more Jacobs, not more Wilson.
The problem with cutting brown
Ten Ton Hammer : 10/1/2013 4:16 pm : link
is that there really isn't anyone you can get to replace him.

At the least, he's good on kickoffs and that matters a little.
Somewhat suprised
sjh50 : 10/1/2013 4:17 pm : link
Scott has seen a healthy workload, much to my complaining over the past two weeks (50 snaps for DS vs 55 for DW). I'm all for this being the time for Wilson to sink or swim with a full workload.

I'm not one for conspiracy theories, but could this be a nudge from Reese/management to play Wilson?
I wanna see more Cox!
Optimus-NY : 10/1/2013 4:18 pm : link

Either that, or they think Jacobs and Cox are ready for more work.

Victor in CT : 10/1/2013 4:19 pm : link

Mike in Long Beach : 10/1/2013 4:20 pm : link
So for everyone saying the Giants were being unfair to Wilson compared to the pass Scott seemed to be getting from the coaching staff... well, so much for that :)
More Jacobs??? Really???
PSIMMS 22-25-268 : 10/1/2013 4:21 pm : link
He has 11 carries for 11 yards. Yeah, that's what I'd rather see more of than Wilson getting more touches - yeeesh!
I would think
Gene : 10/1/2013 4:21 pm : link
there has to be another RB out there on the radar.

Jacobs has shown nothing (not unsurprisingly imho) and it's most un-Giant like to depend on a rookie.
Also, Jacobs has been a non-factor in the running game
Mike in Long Beach : 10/1/2013 4:22 pm : link
due mostly to a lack of carries... we haven't really been able to see anything good or bad from him. Now we can finally see what (if anything) he's got left.

Coaches and Reese made a clear mistake with Scott making this roster. I was fairly surprised Torain didn't get kept before Scott anyway.
This sucks
Cornman33 : 10/1/2013 4:23 pm : link
Was hoping to see if we could end the season with more INT's on screen passes than first downs and Scott's ability to bat the ball up in the air on those was crucial.

Paul in Brooklyn : 10/1/2013 4:25 pm : link
feel like the moves that they're making are happening completely at random.

If you're going to waive Scott, why the hell are you giving him touches at Wilson's expense? All they did was stunt Wilson's development. Nothing that they're doing is making sense.

I wonder if there isn't some truth to the idea
Mike from Ohio : 10/1/2013 4:30 pm : link
that this was a nudge from Reese to TC. Seems unusual to release him when he has been getting so many snaps (which I completely disagree with). If so, I hope that doesn't mean a greater number of snaps for BJ.

And while I don't think this should happen, I have to say it...more touches for Cox?
I bet Scott is a better

How is this not about Snee?
Greg from LI : 10/1/2013 4:52 pm : link
An interior lineman is most likely headed to IR and they immediately pick up an interior lineman. Signing a center means Boothe stays at G no matter what happens with Baas.

This guy can't be any worse than Cordle, can he?

Scott? Fine, no problem. But Reynolds? Why not just promote Goodin? At least he knows the offense. Reynolds is a guy you just brought in off the street. He wasn't even on anyone's PS. Was he even in anyone's camp this year? When was the last time he played any football?

You don't think it is possible that Jerry Reese got fed up as we all have with seeing Scott take carries form his first round pick? That is that far fetched???
Good move.....
Dry Lightning : 10/1/2013 5:35 pm : link
Scott showed something unforgiveable in a third year player. Fear. He admitted he "choked" in the first game, and I thought he played scared after that. That can happen to a rookie, not to a vet. He had to go.
As

jcn56 : 10/1/2013 5:37 pm : link
but the fact remains that we just cut a young RB who was taking away reps from a 1st round draft pick of a couple of years ago. It does raise questions about the strategic direction of the running game.

The next roster move will likely be the required roster move in order to make room on the active 53-man roster for the return of Will Hill. That move will likely be a player going on season-ending IR. that player looks like Snee at this moment. The Giants will likely make this move by 4 pm ET on Saturday, which the deadline they have to decide what they'll do roster-wise regarding the re-addition of Will Hill to the active-53. I think Pattie is spot on regarding what will happen (see the tweet below):

As for Scott, I was surprised he had that many carries....surprised at the posters blaming him for the flubs on the screen passes....look where the ball was thrown...think Jacobs catches them? Wilson?

this happened sooner, and is very strange that a guy who is not even on the team was stealing snaps from David Wilson.

Were we teaching lessons at the expense of the upside of this team?

At this point, Wilson needs to be an every day back. Sink or swim with him.

I snuck this thought in on the Eli needs to improve his short/check down game thread the other day:

And on a side note the Giants need to get Darrell Scott off the field on every down and let's use David Wilson as a pass catching weapon. Screen him against teams to death. Put him in space and let's see what we have and build both he and Eli's confidence.

At this rate, David Wilson is one of the few guys who can have a massive upside impact, if we elect to use him... which I think is crazy and an indictment of this coaching staff that we haven't, considering we were 0-3, and now 0-4.
dsamn shame is that we drafted Nassib when we could have had
