Assuming this current season stays on it's current path, the Giants will win under 6 games. Assuming this scenario, do you think Coughlin remains our head coach or do you think he decides to call it a career(it's my belief that he will not get fired under any circumstance and he's earned that). He's up there in age and the team will clearly need to retool. I don't think we need to go into full blown rebuilding mode b/c we still have lots of talent at skill positions but significant changes will obviously occur. Will Coughlin stick around to steer us on this course or will he leave that to a new, preferably younger coach (clearly assuming Gilbride won't take over!)? I think there's a strong possibility this is his last season as the Giants HC. But there's also a good chance that Coughlin doesn't wanna go out on one of the biggest duds of his career so he may want one more shot to turn it around. What do you think?
2011 was the outlier. People who claim otherwise are allowing sentiment to cloud their judgment.
Two years ago this team was navigating through a super bowl season!
Coughlin got a pass for 2012 and rightfully so. You don't fire a coach off a 9-7 season ONE year removed from the super bowl. For fucks sake
IT's easy to get on mgmt right now. It's easy to skull fuck Reese and Mara at every turn but this is the first BAD year in 10 fucking seasons. TEN!
That was a rhetorical question, by the way.
I predict he'll retire, Reese will fire the rest of the coaching staff, and we'll bring in some college wunderkind to teach Eli the Read Option.
Maybe Lane Kiffin.
Coughlin will get fired or retire or die on the football field but make no mistake, the guy will always be a legend in these parts. The Giants could go 0-16 and Coughlin still won't have to buy a drink in this town for the rest of his life. I love that guy. We all should. As loyal and hard working a coach this town has ever seen. And he delivered.
I really don't know if Coughlin gets wacked or not...I know it sounds crazy to even entertain the notion that Coughlin should get one more go at it in 2014...but I have a hard time kicking this guy out the door. But this has been a tough 20 game stretch. It looks like things are coming to an end. From late 2008 to now the team is clearly trending downward if you compare it to the team that played from 05-08.

TC hasn't had the best track record of bringing in coordinators, and I doubt he'd be willing to bring in a new offense, which is the only situation I'd like him to stay if he were a serious candidate to be fired.
While Eli is in his prime we have to see what he has working in another system. I remain adamant in that.
I hope the front office has the same desire to see these curiosities answered as I do.
The offensive inconsistencies are killing this team.
