Does bringing Coughlin back make the Giants more attractive for top OC and DC candidates? He's an older coach so the HC spot of one of the leagues too franchises will soon be available, and a good coordinator will obviously have an inside track. Plus, I'm sure he's pretty well respected among his peers so it's a chance to learn from him before competing for the Giants HC job.
Who are some of the best young OC and DC candidates who are a few years away from competing for a HC job?
Yes I know it's not 100% sure that Fewell and Gilbride won't be back.
Sadly, I can totally see Coughlin pushing for it, if he's still around and just Gilbride/Fewell see the door.

Expect the some HC, DC, and OC next year, just new positional coaches.
if that happens expect more of the same next year
I agree.
I think this year's 3-13 season will be a blip, but until there is a complete overhaul be prepared to see a bunch of 6-10 and 5-11 seasons.
Like with Turner and the Browns, the Chargers aren't going to let him make a lateral move.
I really think TC is coming back though. I can't see the Giants letting his tenure end with such a sour taste.
TC is loyal to his system. Just don't see an up and coming top offensive mind wanting to totally run someone else's offense with little input. Gilbride has TCs ultimate trust. How much trust would he have in a new assistant regardless of resume.
Coughlin is signed through 2014 so unless they negotiate an extension I can't see TC dumping coordinators and starting over for a 1 year situation.
That said, ownership might force a coordinator change especially on defense with PF's until consistently under-performing.
Perhaps TC's reluctance to make that change causes him to retire ?
It certainly be interesting to see how this plays out if more weeks of no winning continue.

Isn't the way around that to call him "Assistant Head Coach" rather than OC and offer him much more money?
I don't see Mara asking TC to retire unless the Giants go 1-15 or 2-14. Even then, i think TC gets to coach the final year of his contract and then retire. Which is why i think a DC like Jauron makes sense.
TC: "I'm not willing to do that."
Mara: "Well then we will have to move in a different direction. I'd like to give you the chance to retire."
Or some shit like that.

Make sense to me
Moving from HC in college to OC in NFL... don't know if that's so lateral. But man, those two would command some respect and put the right players on the field.
Or maybe I just love him making Brady look like he just got put on timeout.
A new young and flexibly minded HC, please.
I would support a housecleaning of the entire coaching staff.
TC guided this club to two SB rings when in fact the talent on the field was not really better than "above average" at just about any position.
Or maybe you want to name the HOF candidates from TC's two SB winning clubs? Strahan of course, but other than Michael? Eli, and so far no-one else. Maybe Cruz, Nicks, or JPP if he gets his head out of his ass and plays up to his physical potential.
Folks here are really forgetting too fast what TC did for this team, and we continue to over-rate our players' talent.
If Dallas doesn't manage to get to the playoffs this year, then everyone there deserves to be canned and never participate in organized football ever again.
