was asked about Could you see the locker room fracture in coming weeks if the team continues to lose? Banks said, right now he doesn't see it with this team. A lot have that fight.
However, if the losing continues, he (Banks) said it could fracture if you have guys in there playing with their heart, and playing hard game-in-game out, leaving it out on the field, and then see some guys start acting like they mailed it in or don't give a sh*t anymore. Then there would be fracture in there. Banks said he went through situations like this and saw it happen. But right now, as of today, he didn't think so.
It's just different degrees of caring, which is natural. Some guys are probably all-consumed by it. Some guys are better at compartmentalizing. Some guys just show up to do their job.
And it can change over time, even for a give player. Anybody who's played sports has this. Sometimes losses just eat you up and sometimes you get over them really quickly and don't care about it too much.
whether the guy TRULY deserves it or not, it needs to be someone who will make every one of these fuckers pause and wonder about his own job. (like a Tuck or a Rolle)
THEN you will see if there are any leaders ready to step up and start to take control.
That's when you will find out whether a house cleaning is in order.
is that if they are generally on their way out they just want to get paid and probably don't care. That is why you need to continually be looking for better players at every spot.
I always find it comical that Reese says he wants to see competition at camp. Given that we play the vets and never the other guys it seems disingenuous or they select guys that aren't that good and the vets will alway prevail yet they won't be able to beat other teams players one-on-one.

Andrew, Tuck needed to be let go over the offseason. I don't know about us cutting him now, looks like we want to hold onto his cap figure for next year so we can cut him and get the savings then.
He was asked if the team could pack it in. He said yes but did not think they were there now. He said once the guys who are fighting start seeing everyone else not caring and people no longer getting angry over the losses, that is when you would need to worry.
The issues I am seeing are not due to lack of want
That game came down to Eli's last pick. That team fought hard all game long despite being put in a hole with Eli's second that went back for 6, and now we are hearing players some players don't care?
I have trouble buying that, cause they didn't play like it.
I'm sure TT cared but let's be honest he didn't play well. Tuck probably still cares but he's a shell of his former self. Giants need to use the rest of the season to evaulate which players deserve to wear that uniform in 2014.
Guys will invariably quit when things get bad enough. Especially if they start to get a sense that the coach isn't going to be around next season. It's incredibly selfish - but you can understand the impulse - there's no sense at all in playing hard (and risking injury) for a coach who's not going to have a job next fall. Witness the 2003-04 team in the last 8 games, once it became clear (unofficially) that Fassel wasn't coming back.
I don't think we're there yet, and I think there are certain guys in visible positions who know they're playing to stay in the league next season. As well as some vets who simply respect Coughlin too much to lay down like dogs.
I tend to agree. I see a team that is fighting. Whether or not that holds if they keep losing will remain to be seen, but this team up to this point has been fighting. They haven't been mailing these games in.
I've been in quite a few very highly ranked organizations
Watch Tuck's effort

or lack thereof on the Alshon Jefferey end-around. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that some players don't care.
What the hell are talking about, Tuck took on Bennett and force the play in side.
I wonder if the 1year contracts have hurt team unity.
made a comment about the players that Reese has brought in. Dottino said that maybe some of them came from losing teams and don't know how to get mad and turn up their game, because they're used to losing. Doesn't sound so far fetched!!

No he didn't he got ridden all the way to the sideline by Dante Rosario....... DANTE ROSARIO!!!!
With the one year contracts. We assume that they would play well looking for their next contract but maybe they just assume they will be somewhere else next year so why care.
I bet there will be some vets angry at the nepotism with Snee
They need to clear some cap room midseason and throw more money the way of a guy going on IR?
If I'm Justin Tuck or Corey Webster or David Diehl, I'm not too happy about that. I'm sure there are a lot of vets on the team who know their careers are winding down and would appreciate that extra money for all the years they put in with the Giants. And they give it to a guy who isn't even going to suit up? And that guy is the coach's son-in-law?
I can't speak for others, but I know I would be pissed if I were in their shoes
It was Rosario (not important) and NO he was NOT blocked to the sideline.
It was an unusual play and Tuck had to wait for the play to develop. Tuck did his FUCKING JOB, forcing the play inside.
Michael Irvin had it right. Before Jimmy Johnson went to Dallas, Irvin made a list of all the guys on the roster that were just going through the motions. As soon as Jimmy arrived, they were gone.
But there wasn't a more competitive WR to ever play this game. Irvin wanted it. I respect his take on shit like this. He played the game the right way and no one wanted to win and hated to lose more than Irvin. Guy was crying on the sidelines back in 97 when the giants beat them down the stretch that year.
there are some players that are content with their 1 or 2 SB wins.
And possibly the 1 year contract guys don't have much of a commitment. Maybe it hurts the team cohesion.
The 1 year guys thinking more about their next payday and the guys that have been on the team longer not having the comradery, that "Band of Brothers" attitude that perennial contenders have.
With camps being so shortened, that might hurt that bonding that comes from everyone having put the grunt work in.
I wanted the team to part ways with Tuck this past offseason.
Had absolutely zero confidence that he would return to form. I love him as a Giant but the cumulative injuries and the admitted issues with motivation have spelled doom for him and I saw no reason to bring him back.
Coughlin does have 2 SB's but, I believe it is time for him to go. This team is in chaos. It is time for drastic change. Why on earth did Reese trade up to draft Nassib? Why is Fewell still the DC? Eli needs to clear his head and redeem himself. This season is over! JMHO.

The players never care as much as the fans, but if your team is 0-6, you'd better care, if only because your job is at risk.

So TT's comment here is interesting
Management panics and starts making some bad decisions.
Employees keep their heads low and try to just do their job and stay out of trouble. Some start looking forward to a new job.
WELCOME TO THE GIANTS 2013 SEASON !!
Yes, this figures to only be the start of the public comments to the media.

I happen to agree, and Joey said the same types of things about the defense before the 'mutiny' by the secondary against PW in 2011 as well.

The question is, how many of them don't care? When they start to outnumber those who do, you have a problem.
