“There was a play last night where they were not on the same page,” Coughlin said. “One guy signaled one thing with his body language and the other guy didn’t pick it up. That’s kind of the way this has been with him (Randle). He’s made some outstanding plays as he did the other night. … His language was a little bit indicative that he wasn’t going to (go deeper) and then he did. By that time the quarterback had thrown the ball. Eli should have seen the corner. It would have helped him to go somewhere else whether Rueben was right or wrong. I’m sure he would tell you the same thing.”
I am sick of the offense based on option routes. When it works it is beautiful. When the QB and receivers are in sync it's magic. But guys get injured or you try to bring along a young guy and the offense goes to shit.
Look at the formation and it was 1 high so that right sideline was wide open, had Eli held it for 1 more second that would've been a big play.
I'm not a fire them all poster but this does get old after a bit.
I'm sure he doesn't trust his protection(and why should he)but he just does not look like his usual self as he's waiting for the play to develop.

As good as this offense can be, I'll rather something like Green Bays. It's less complicated, and more explosive
the defenders have a good read on what the Giants receivers are going to do and they are baiting both Eli and the WR more and more, which is especially effective with a young guy like Randle struggling to make the right reads.
and that is on Coughlin and Gilbride.
and this has been going on for a while. It just reached the tipping point this year.
coming..i watched in slow mo and eli threw ball and it
was half way to 82 before he turned...jennings stop and
was facing Eli when he threw and jumped behind 82 to catch..
he was looking at eli when he threw...dont know why he would throw behind 82 when jennings was waiting
Randle - ( New Window )
It's like watching a high wire act where youre one step away from doom instead of enjoying an athletic competition.
Some of Eli's picks are just due to him slinging it in spots he shouldn't.. but a lot of them throughout the years have also been because of these miscommunications.
IMO it is because the defensive scheme was to give Eli a pre snap read that his receiver would curl. I think because this offensive has been around for years and doesn't change game to game teams are seeing on film the option routes and which defensive scheme causes what option to be taken. Thus the high interception rate. On the flip side it is why the Giants have had luck with the deep ball because when the defense is wrong someone is going to be open deep.
Well, he and Randle better figure it out quickly because odds are that Nicks may be playing for another team next year.
Most WRs can't make such precise decisions on a consistent basis, which is needed for success.
0 and 6 does not deserve kindness. We have all waited a long time for this season and it was gone in 3 games. Eli is no stranger to turnovers throughout his career. Way before Randle got here. This is beyond ridiculous.
This system is ridiculous. It honestly makes little sense to me. It feel so unnatural.
I can see certain option routes, like having underneath/safer 'welker' route on a play, but I can't think of any system that makes things harder than they should be than this one.
How can you get in a good drop back rhythm if you can't be absolutely sure which way the WR will break?
Even a hair of uncertainty will force you to sit in the pocket longer, and if you're not dropping back hitting the back foot and firing, you're standing there and allowing pressure to come up on you - forcing back foot throws, poor mechanics, and non-ideal footwork. Lack of rhythm becomes a severe lack of consistency. It is the signature of this offense.
It has to go after this year.
