throwing a td pass to chris hidey-hidey-hidey-ho calloway on a halfback option, as the two michigan alums stuck it to the lions just a few miles from their alma matter. awesome game 35-7 giants, maurice douglass and 350 pound ray agnew both had pick 6s, the latter ripping it away from barry sanders and chugging in for a td. was lucky to leave the stadium in one piece with a lot of rural michigan's finest drunk and angry after the game.

The first of 4 straight Giants TDs (the latter 3 were all Simms TD passes) after falling behind 34-0 (and folks around me screaming to put Hostetler in). Though they fell short in the end, those 28 unanswered points made for a hell of a first love experience as the old Stadium was rockin!!!

Against the Green Bay Packers

I had to look it up because while I remember that was the first game I had ever seen live, I didn't remember who scored the first TD.
It was so long ago, I can't remember;

It was the Packers game in 1992 where L.T. tore his Achilles. My little sister won the tickets in a contest at a car dealership. She was a good sport about letting me take her, and about the cold that day. I don't think she's been back there since then though :)

Well, I had to look one up.
johnnyb : 10/18/2013 4:48 pm : link
I did go to one game in Yankee Stadium- Giants vs. Saints in 1972. So, Norm Snead to Charlie Evans was the first live Giant TD I saw. I just don't remember it.
Gary Wood 8 yard run

Sunday, November 22, 1964. 44-17 Steelers. I only got to go because none of my uncles wanted to watch them play at that point. It was 37-3 after 3 qtrs. 2-10-2 that year and the start of the lost years. I sat through all of them.
the first game I went to
Matt in SGS : 10/18/2013 4:50 pm : link
was a 14-9 loss to the Denver Broncos in 1980, and I saw 3 field goals by Joe Danelo, but that was with a friend and I was about 7 years old at the time.

The first TD I saw in my seats, was in 1987, the first ESPN Sunday Night game against the Patriots, a Jeff Rutledge to Mark Bavaro TD.

that would be mine as well. That was the first live Giants game I can remember being at. I was only 7 years old at the time though so I don't remember much else about it.
Phil Simms to Howard Cross (The Redskins, October 1993).
vibe4giants : 10/18/2013 5:00 pm : link
@ RFK.

On the way to handing the Redskins a 41-7 beatdown, the worst the Giants had put on them in something like three decades.

Better yet, I didn't go to sleep that Saturday night knowing I was going to see my first Giants game the next morning. A buddy called me at 9 am that Sunday morning. Against the wished of my hangover, I answered. Someone had just given him two tickets. Wanna go? Hell yes. It was tight coming from Richmond, but we made it before kick-off.

Meggett threw for a TD in that game, too.

The only time I saw the Giants live was also in DC. The Giants lost. New stadium. Don't remember much of anything about that game. Including the score.
The Victor Cruz pre-season breakout vs. the Jets
SwirlingEddie : 10/18/2013 5:00 pm : link
August 2010. 40+ years as a fan but my very first live game ever. Even though Cruz scored 3 TDs in that game, the first score went to Jacobs on a 1 yd run.
All I remember was getting sick..

Eli to Plax on that crossing route he took the distance.

I remember I was so pumped I tried to hug my buddy and end up over reaching and I kinda punched the dude next to him in the arm. He got all up tight about it. I thought you New Yorkers were harder than that...

That was a great first game to go to.

1961 was a big year for me....I discovered professional sports that year.....it started with the M&M boys, and I was a Yankee fan in Boston Land....

The New York theme continued, when football season started...can't remember the exact game, but YA to Shoftner was engrained in my brain....I was YA, and my little brother was Del....one time he tried to go real long like Del...I heaved it high and far.....he got under it though, but it went through his hands and hit his nose....I was in more pain than he was, when the old man found out....
Thankfully there is the Internet for questions like this.

I remembered the game was Falcons at Giants in September 1982. I was a HS sophomore. My mom took me to the game. She was the sports fan where my dad couldn't have cared less.

I remember a couple of things from the game. First, it was in the mid-90s and everyone in the stadium was soaked from sweat. Two, we had seats in the lower level close to the tunnel. I got some great pictures that I still have today. Harry Carson reminded me of Darth Vader. Intimidating. There is no other way to describe him in full uniform.

Umfortunately, the good guys came up short 16-14. The Falcons had a failed PAT. No sure if it was Mick Luckhurst's fault or some other breakdown, or even a blocked kick. However, he hit the game winner in the fourth.

The Giants first score was 33 yards from Brunner to Earnest Gray, their first of two hook-ups on the day. Gray was ways one of my favorites. He was the best receiver the Giants had since I started watching in the mid-70s until Toomer. I always viewed Gray as an All Pro. He just looked the part.
Steve, but how do you know that? (grin)

Mike Sherrard 49 yard TD from Dave Brown. Giants held the ball for about the last 7 minutes or so and won their sixth game in a row to finish the season 9-7 (started 3-0, lost 7 straight) but missed the playoffs because they lost tiebreakers to the Packers, Bears and Lions.

But, I do remember a TD the first game I ever saw. I "won" tickets to a Jets-Bengals pre-season game in the 80s. It was a boring game with the exception of a Jo Jo Townsell kickoff return for a TD. That was the first time I got to truly appreciate the live football experience. Kickoffs in particular are amazing to watch as you see the hole developing far downfield, before the ball is even fielded.
