stayed around for years as a backup but really was not very good at all. Worst high draft pick Offensive Linemen was Eric Moore. Especially considering Jumbo Elliott was taken in the second round and became a fixture at LT, the very spot Moore was drafted to fill.
Ian Allen was pretty bad and that may be a tough one to top.
Allen. Fell on his ass and he was just in a shotgun stance. The Monday night blowout vs. the Saints back in 03. Close 2nd is Jeff Hatch. Dishonorable mentions to Wayne Lucifer, Jeff Roehl, Tam Hopkins and Greg Bishop his 1 year at LT in 96
12th round draft pick of the Rams in 1978. Played in nine games for the Giants in 1979. His play stood out on a Monday Night football game against the Redskins, a game the Giants lost 27-0. Howard Cosell, a closet Giants fan, apologized to the viewers for being part of televising such ineptitude.
Bob Whitfield was John Ogden compared to Tam Hopkins
but I will take your word if you are quoting Howard Cosell.
From more recent times, Ian Allen was just horrible. I recall Eagle games where their defensive lineman would push each to see who could line up across from Allen on 3rd downs.
Tam Hopkins! A name I had completely erased from my memory. Until somebody comes up with the next winner, I've got to go with him, and even then I might not change my mind.
but the Giants OL I disliked the most who actually might have been worse than Ian Allen and did much more damage on the field was Roy Simmons. If it wasn't for Simmons (and the idiot Handley) Phil Simms would probably be in the Hall of Fame .
Of the guys I've seen, Ian Allen, Tam Hopkins, & Jeff Hatch are
My friends brother plays at Cornell and was a standout field goal blocker during his career. In his house is a picture of him blocking a field goal and who is the person who fell down and made it possible. Jeff hatch. I see it every time I go over his house. A side note he's best friends with boothe as they were teammates at Cornell and co captains
but he had a teammate, I think his name was Ron Miko...something who was pretty bad. He was a wrestler in the offseason. When Alex Webster cut Rich Buzin, he called him a 15-yard holding penalty waiting to happen.
but while we're discussing offensive lineman, I'd like to ask what the story was with John Hicks? He was a highly regarded lineman drafted by the Giants, but his career was pretty short and he didn't play after the Giants traded him to Pittsburgh.
I have to imagine these 1 to 2 year wonders who actually played in games since 1960 would have to be near the top of the list:
player POS yr drafted round
Matt McCants T 2012 6
Wayne Lucier G 2003 7
Jeff Hatch T 2002 3
Paul O'Connor G 1987 5
Steve Cisowski T 1986 8
Jack Oliver T 1985 6
Brian Johnston C 1985 3
Kevin Belcher C 1983 6
Jeff Wiska G 1972 7
Dan Fowler G 1979 10
Al Simpson G 1975 2
Carl Schaukowitch G 1973 15
Mark Ellison G 1971 11
Tony DiMidio T 1964 5

Ed Adamchik C 1963 12
Reed Bohovich G 1962 9
Bruce Tarbox G 1961 2
Moses Gray T 1961 9
Stats re games played were murkier pre-1960.

and then had some success with KC. He doesn't belong on the list at all.
I don't remember much about Lucier but Roehl and Allen came to my mind first. I had them over Hatch because I don't actually remember Hatch playing that much other than preseason. Perhaps I just blocked it out of my memory.

Baas is "good", when he is healthy. which isn't very often.
I don't know if he's Ian Allen bad, though

Are you referring to John "Holding!" Hicks?
