While the offense isn't scoring, adding Hillis/Connor, who at least present the threat of a check down, has greatly helped cut back on turnovers on that side of the ball.
Shame those types of moves couldn't have been made when the season wasn't just a formality.
but hard to tell if this team is really turning it around. Offense still struggling but at least not turning it over. Defense has been great, especially vs. two great RBs, but they've faced garbage at QB.
What's that, no TDs in 10 quarters now? The offense was good, but need to score TDs. Still they moved the ball all day. Two games in a row where we controlled the game and won easily, albeit against weak teams, but still.
Offense cannot convert in the red zone, but this DEFENSE is standing up and being counted. No offensive TDs allowed in two games is impressive in the NFL even when you are not facing the best QBs. We shut down AP and McCoy in consecutive weeks. Something has to be said for that
I'll take it, but this team cannot get in the endzone. They need to start scoring TDs or this emerging glimmering hope will be summarily extinguished.
My thoughts are this plus if Dallas holds on against Detroit, the win amounts to nothing but some good feels. Beating the worst teams in the NFL (with backup QBs no less) once you reach 0-6 is counterproductive.
but it has to come with a note on the state of the oppositions QB situations in both games. We have a rough offense to watch right now. Dallas is the class of the division. I think our first half will look fairly similar to our second half, but its always nice to win in philly
but could Giants move a DT for an OG from someone? After watching closely today I would say that Boothe and Diehl are far more issues than Cordle is at Center.
Frustrating we couldn't get into the endzone, but at least we consistently got into FG range. Did DeOssie's girlfriend break up with him last night or something? Very uncharacteristic of him.
Dez Bryant whines to the ref and the flag gets thrown 10 seconds later. The refing in this league really sucks sometimes. cowpukes always get the calls.
It's great in the short term to be competitive, but we have a rare chance to reboot picking at the top of the draft in a non-playoff year (barring a historic turnaround). Do we really want to trade that in for 6-10 and the 12th pick?
We're not some young team who needs to gain confidence and the winning feeling, we need talent.
A nice feel good win, but doesn't help us in the long run.
but a win is a win. All Ws look the same and have the same value. I just want the Giants in it at the end of the year and be competitive all year. Yeah, this team has plenty of needs but they are my Giants and I always root for them no matter what. Save all the game thread crap for the off season.
Detroit has the ball at their own 33 with 2:24 left Â
We haven't been so hot either. We should have beat them and we did, convincingly. We are getting better, if the OL comes around we will be pretty good again. I don't get all the complaining about beating Philly in Philly.
It wasnt a likely chance for the Lions, but no respectable commentator who has watched the NFL for any period of time would have called the game over with that much time left and a one score lead. A joke.
Dallas got the ball back at the Lions 33. They went 3 and out. Lions burned their last two timeouts. On 3rd down, Dallas was called for a hold, stopping the clock. The Lions declined the penalty. Dallas had 4th and 5 with a minute left and kicked the FG to go up 30-24
Then Detroit had to go 80 yards for a score. 1st pass was to Bush for no gain, he got out of bounds. Next play was a 13 yard pass to Megatron, he was inbounds. Lions spiked the ball with 40 seconds left.
Stafford found Kris Durham (#18) who beat double coverage running a deep route. He was knocked out of bounds at the Dallas 23 with 32 seconds left. On the next play, Stafford hit Megatron on a seam route. Megatron was knocked down at the 1 yard line inbounds. With the clock running, Stafford lined Detroit up for a spike but dove into the end zone unexpectedly for the winning TD
the Cowboys have lost all four common games, though Â

Nice job here. Thanks.
Stafford hit Megatron on a nasty slant down to the 1 yard line Â
Stafford signaled that he was going to down the ball then jumped and reached over the goal line with basically both teams standing there. Dez was yelling at Witten with a coach between them for some reason I don't think we know yet

but any scenario that works requires them to beat the Cowboys.
so if they did, there is a chance, because common games will probably work for the Giants, they're up a game, and we have two of their losses left to play, they only have one of ours right now.
and do nothing but watch Jon Beason. Because the difference in this defense if fucking astounding. It's gotta be more complicated that "they now have an actual linebacker", but there's no question he's making a difference.
Hopefully we can do a deal with Beason long term.. He's constantly around the ball.. this could be one of the best trades we have had. He looks like hes runnin shit out there.
damn what a great day. Team still has some issues to work out offensively but they looked like a much better team today. Great win to keep our season alive.
That Dallas loss was the icing on the cake. Beautiful.
"License Plate Guy was found beaten with various blunt objects, stabbed a number of times, shot with numerous firearms and with some tire tracks across his body.
Positives
-this defense was stout again. No TDs in last 10 quarters. Gotta love that.
-Weatherford is placing the ball with great skill
-Conner and Hillis were both been very productive
-Defense got pressure on the QBs often
Negatives
-The EFFING fade passes in the end zone are such low percentage plays, yet this offense continues to try them. There were at least 3 that failed.
-Delay of game penalties…. Eli takes it to the brink so often that eventually he goes too long, and costly penalties are assessed.
Question, with all the focus on player safety this season, do you think that takedown of Cruz went too far? I think so. It deserved a penalty.
my buddies house after the Lions seemed like they were done .
Had to go finish putting a floor in he texted me Lions Win He was born in Detroit but he likes the Giants ,bad
thing is he is a Jets Fan lol...
Nice win today love seeing the Dog Killer sulking with
a towel draped over his head .
Can't believe I missed the Dez Meltdown what a piece
of garbage he is .
Were on a Roll maybe we go and run the table like
Tre'll said now I know its not likely but could you imagine
If The Mannings Squared off in NY ....
where he very gently pushed Vick at the end of a play, Tuck by some Eagle/Chip Kelly ultimate stupidity, was unblocked on a passing play. The way Tuck tenderly shoved Matt Barkley was sickening to see, to me. Coming unabated to the QB when the opposition is playing from behind, getting unblocked, and not being able to rock the QB?
The game is dead as I've known it. Phil Simms would have thrown for 100,000 yards in his career under these rules. Montana for 150,000.
When we are 2-6. Unreal, why not just enjoy the team and the improvement, instead of getting your hopes up with this team, this is not a team of destiny, come on, we beat two bad teams, BUt, this team has improved a lot, and credit must be given to the defense, no doubt. The players I would like to mention are Linval Joseph, Terrell Thomas, Prince Amukamara, Rolle, Hill and Beason. I also must admit that Tuck had his best game in two years. That is now 6 players on the starting team that are playing well. What a difference fr4om a few weeks back.
If they're playing a night game, I don't want to hear someone like Florio (not to single him out) comment on how unlucky ESPN or NFL Network was to get such a stinker game. Although I shouldn't care, I don't want the Giants to be in the bottom ten in power rankings.
The Steelers managed to lose to Oakland today. At least they can't single out Eli as having been overrated the last few years without Ben coming up in the conversation.
0 points allowed over the last 2 games.
The O has been just good enough against two mediocre teams.
And Special teams just keep polishing the turd?

ST,s gives up 7 2 weeks
In row
problem is that he's a slot WR. he can't play TE

Very good run defense. Again. One of the few bright spots all year.
Next to nothing in terms of pass rush from the DEs, including JPP. His back doesn't seem right. This seems like a wash year from him.
Still need help on the OL. Controlled the LOS, but no real dominance.
Horrendous ST, although Weatherford punted the ball well.
Bad: 5 FGs, no TDs
Bad: Weekly special teams brain art
Good: Victor Cruz is tough as nails
We just physically beat up the Eagles in Philly. I'll gladly spend 3 hours on a Sunday watching that no matter what the circumstances.
Nice win boys!!
We're not some young team who needs to gain confidence and the winning feeling, we need talent.
A nice feel good win, but doesn't help us in the long run.
But I'll take a win over the Iggles anytime.
Lions beat themselves
7 catches for 50 yards is not looking good. He had a chance to make a shit load of plays and was a short. Story of his season.
Fawk Dallas.
what a choke job and Stafford fake clocked them
Tell me how my ass tastes!!!!
- Megatron!
Giants11 : 4:22 pm : link : reply
how's my ass taste??
Meanwhile, Dez getting called a "spoiled child" is great
Hahahahahaha me too..
Throw to Durham was sweeeet!
Throw to Durham was sweeeet!
Ha hopefully 100,000 times..
if we get within one game? lol
0-6 to kick off the season and now this... 2 games behind
WOW WOW WOW

two of which we haven't played yet. it's something that bears watching if we start winning games

GO GIANTS!!!
Two games back is two games back and The Giants are playing better!
Hope springs eternal!
License Plate Guy trolls Eagles fans’ Super Bowl record with a brutally effective number: zero
Philly police are treating this as a suicide."

Does any play define Eagles Giants like that punt that the Eagles scored on? Typical Eagles bs vs. the Giants.
TWO
two games behind Dallass!!!
The game is dead as I've known it. Phil Simms would have thrown for 100,000 yards in his career under these rules. Montana for 150,000.
But Fewell, I simply don't like his whole style of D. It largely has not suited our personnel...

HALLELUJAH
TD Eli can score on offense
Special Teams are preciously Special
All is RIGHT....bring on SF/NO/SEATTLE/ and that washed up brother of Ellie Mae!!!
