for this team to make history.
Did anyone see that road streak coming in 2011?
That was a historical run, so why can't it be done again?
There is enough talent on this team and the East is not very good. So we can definitely win this division.
Everyone including many fans have/had counted us out (I haven't seen any top 5 threads this week.. yet..lol).
There's still 1/2 season left and the team is healthier and in good spirits right now and making up 2 games on the Boys is definitely possible.
Skins came back just last season from a 3-6 record and won the East.
I also don't believe they have to win out to have a chance either. I honestly believe the Giants can and will still win this division. They didn't properly anticipate somethings coming into the season and the injuries just made things worse, but I also feel like things are just now starting to settle down.
Beason acquisition was huge.
Simplfied there scheme again finally.
Got Will Hill back.
T2 is probably playing with more confidence then he was earlier.
Oline has finally settled down enough where the offense can function and cut down the TO's.
Backfield is finally settling down too with Peyton and Jacobs coming in. Now with Brown coming back they shoould get even better and more explosive plays out of the backfield.
If the pass rush can pick it up and JPP comes on I really believe this team has a legit shot.
This organization holds themselves to a high standard (thank god) so there hasn't been any sign of quit in them and I wouldn't have it any other way.
Dream on the draft all you losers want.
GB is beatable but the key game will be the Dallas game. Oakland really is made to order for us. Then the GB game becomes a big thing because now that becomes a measuring stick game for this team. It will give them a chance to legitimize the previous 3 weeks of wins. Because the pundits will echo what some of you here are saying that "oh they haven't beaten anybody". I love that because this team loves proving people wrong.
Also think about this, who exactly has Dallas beaten that makes everyone think they can hold an 2 game lead with 8 left?
They have beaten us, Rams, Eagles and Skins. All sub .500 teams and a history of lack of leadership (see Dez come unglued in there latest big game in Detroit) and history of folding in big spots. See last year where the East was there's for the taking and the Skins put the heat on them and they folded. This isn't over yet, I think the Giants have figured out how the need to play on both sides of the ball in order to win going forward and get this done.
Time will tell.
We got some Cowboys to hunt down this season.
I'm looking forward to weekend without the Giants. Then, let's beat Oakland.
That's just how it's always been.
I'm not going to expect any miracles but I think this team has some fight in them yet.
There was another team that folded down the stretch in the East last year. Three guesses as to who it was?
i realize that the competition has not been great the last two weeks, but the defense has pitched two consecutive shutouts which is no small feat; they shut down two of the best RBs in the game. beason and hill have ignited the D, which was actually "good" overall the first six games (they were harmed by the fact that the giants offense was its own worst enemy, with the pick sixes, 3 and outs leading to no rest for the D and terrible field position).
the offensive line is shaky in pass pro for long developing plays, so they need to get into a rhythm by running the football or shorter throws, which linemen much prefer over pass pro. soften the defense up and then unleash the cruz, nicks, wilson, randle and jernigans, etc.
overall, they need to cut out unforced errors and play intense, sharp football: no room for bad snaps, illegal formation penalties, delays of game, miscommunications between eli and randle leading to pick 6s, tripping over their own two feet (hello myers), clown screen passes, offsides, ticky tacky roughing the QB penalties, unsportsmanlike conduct etc etc.
Oh, and by the way, the other two guys we have to face are Stafford and Rivers who are probably having the best years of their careers.
To me, the #1 biggest thing that has to improve will be the pass rush/blitzes on 3rd down. Giants are going to take some lumps but we have to give some as well and get off the field on 3rd down from time to time.
Otherwise, we can go back to talking about who to draft with the #3 pick.
Which team has a history of doing well in adverse times when pundits have counted them out?
I'll give you 3 guesses?
