I think the Panthers will sign him. Dave G will make it happen.
I agree Anish. Remember when a lot of us read the tea leaves last year and though Osi would wind up leaving in Free Agency and go to Atlanta? It seems to be the same thing next year with Nicks and Carolina (unless the Giants use the franchise tag on him). They're almost $12 million under the cap now, and should have a lot of free cap room to sign him if he's on the market.

From @PFTonNBCSN, Giants OL David Diehl on WR Hakeem Nicks returning to the team next year: "I don't see it happening."
Still don't see the actual wording of the question
The issue is Diehl not just giving a generic answer and choosing to stir things up more (even though the trade deadline just passed, settling them down at least a little).
For an alleged team leader, it's as piss poor of a move as most of the ones he makes on the field and if I were Nicks, I'd be irritated as hell with him.
This team win since he came here. Including playing hurt. Granted his limitations leave him open to a lot of criticism.
Nicks stopped being that guy this season. Diehl is only stating the obvious.
Nicks is done playing football for the Giants. He merely going thru the motions while he tries to stay healthy to sign his one huge deal for his career.
He meant it only in terms of dollars, as Nicks is a legit #1 receiver. When healthy, he is the second best player on offense, IMHO. Nothing against Cruz, different types of players.
he probably knows where Nick's head is at when it comes to free agency. And the word floating around the ether has been that Nicks wants to test free agency. Lots of speculation surrounding Carolina.
So with all that in mind, Diehl probably isn't wrong. Now, maybe he should keep that information to himself, but that's another matter. I wouldn't dismiss what he says.
Nicks is just an average ballplayer now who will want to be paid like and elite ballplayer. If you want that kind of pay, you don't drop the passes Nicks has dropped this year. Let him go.
The guy has been a warrior for this team for over 10 years and the left tackle on 2 Super Bowl Champion teams. Yet some (primarily the newer members of BBI) talk of him as if he were Ian Allen. If you want to see what a bad offensive lineman looked like, go back and look at that guys performance.
Nicks will be moving on. Everyone knows it and you guys act like DD just made some monumental and controversial comment. He was stating the obvious.
but for a TEAM guy, it did the FO no favors.
Personally, I think he goes, unless the playbook is redesigned to feature him more/put him in schemes to get him open more.
Franchising may only delay the inevitable. And another year of 'just enough' to get the big contract.
Like I said, I think he's gone.

A pro doesn't comment on a team-mate's contract situation.

Is it really that hard to give some "I hope things work out, but we'll see" answer?
Nicks, sadly, would be wrong.
Diehl is forever. He's going to outlast everyone, at this point I'm sure of it.

No way, no how
and
B) I still think he could be franchised

There's a DUI checkpoint that would beg to differ
