with Nicks is whether the lack of explosion he currently has is if he is truly shaking the rust off from his surgeries or if he has lost a step or two. Granted, he never created a ton of separation, he has clearly does not have the same explosion from 2011.
If he starts to show some of that explosion is re-gained, even with putting up mediocre stats the remainder of the year, I can't see the Giants letting him walk for nothing when they clearly value Nicks with all the quotes thrown around about him being the lynch pin to our offense (Eli, Reese, Gilbride all have said this), a trusted WR in Eli's eyes and a former first round pick we have a lot of time ivnested in.
They will franchise him with the hopes of either:
A. working out a reasonable long term deal at their price since they will hold all the cards or
B. Try to trade work out a trade for whoever is desperate enough (2nd rounder with our old friend Gettelman?)
If he continues to muddle along at this current pace (not stats) but the way he looks, then I could see them offering a reasonable deal, him declining, and the market will dictate his value which will probably be over our price.
Nicks is having a bad year because Eli is having a bad year. Eli is having a bad year because the o-line is having a bad year. You can't catch a pass when your QB is running for his life accumulating intentional ground penalties and throwing INT's like confetti.
level of performance. And I don't think anyone who thinks that he is a currently sub-par nfl lineman is demonstrating a lack of understanding of the game. Thinking his past performance is relevant to an evaluation of his current play however...
so let's crucify him? Some of you need to get happy with yourselves, haha.
I do not think it is the best situation that this is out publicly, but perhaps there's a measure to what was said here. Diehl is no dummy, and I don't think there is any question who bleeds blue more Diehl or Hakeem, considering Hakeem looks disinterested/disconnected this year and has eyes on FA. Perhaps Diehl is looking to expose that Hakeem's heart is not in NY, or his mind is elsewhere ($), to help motivate him to play better.
Or he is the Giants go-to PR mouthpiece to start warming the public up to the fact Nicks might realistically be elsewhere, and ready the fan base for seeing Randle replace Nicks in the lineup as the season moves along.
If Diehl wants to deal in honesty, he's playing like a broken swinging door! He's the worst player of the O-Line right now, I hate to say it but, Cordle has turned a better performance to date than Diehl. I say he is likely gone also! Maybe he can follow Nicks to the Panthers next year!
Diehl was asked a question and he responded. So know he's getting killed about HIS play because he answered a question that been a running thread on BBI for about 3 weeks???..
He's getting help from Cordle and Pugh now. Teams are only rushing 4 (and still getting pressure). Did anyone watch the Philly game last weekend. Guy was a fkin shit-show and the reason why he was less noticeabley bad was because we actually game planed for his shitty-ness with a short passing gameplan.

NOPE, I take every chance I get to kill Diehl's PISS POOR performance, I saw a a Diehl topic and took the opportunity to speak out on his play and where I hope he winds up next year!
a good offensive lineman and was a huge asset on the Giants roster. Now he is below average and pretty expensive to boot. He is continuously losing his assignment and can no longer effectively perform the tasks required to be a full time starter. As he fails, the teams fails. We have seen enough of that already this season.
"Go ask Nicks, it's not appropriate for me to comment about another person's job"
Put yourself in that position in a job which is so closely integrated (and competitive), in terms of performance. Wouldn't that royally piss you off, somebody running his mouth about something that's solely between you and your employer ?
I know, the guy is on-edge ( he just took a huge pay-cut and his grades have to show how bad he's stinking the place up). So he flaps his big mouth and poisons the locker-room. I bet he doesn't have one single friend left in there. I wouldn't trust him with the "honey" (latrine) bucket.
It's a "f'ed-up" situation, just when the team's going into the bye week. trying to get rejuvenated for the stretch run. There's in enough bad that's happened to this team, this year. Jerry must be tempted to unplug the lamp off the wall and strangle Diehl with the cord !
Now torch me.

Guy has been a great Giants and those who belittle him again and again on this site only show their lack of understanding of the game.

DD has been horrible on this line this year, if anything PUGH is helping him ...
DD is also a spell from dungeons and dragons called "Dimension door" ... which is what I shall call DD now.
