for the hundredth time they're trying to establish the run game against 7 man boxes, they are doing exactly what they have to do.
there was one really bad throw. that's it. but the BBI drama crew has to get going.
I give Gilbride credit for swallowing his pride and not playing like they were a 2-14 Lions team on offense. they need to get back into it and this is the most logical way to do it, since the D is playing well
it's usually impossible to know whether any given incompletion is about Eli missing his target, or the receiver running a bad route.
The pass to Cruz on the out route near the goal line looks like a terrible pass, but when they cut to Cruz on the sideline afterwards, he looked mad at himself. So who knows?
interior of the line is awful. Boothe, Cordle, Baas, and Diehl should all be gone. But that certainly doesn't excuse all of Eli's bad throws. Not even close. The simple truth is that he has played very badly this season. Only a rank apologist would say otherwise. You are what your statistics say you are, and his are very bad.
That said, I'm not terribly worried about his long-term outcome. We're not going to have this many players that simply fall off of a cliff in the early 30's.
The o-line might be playing better but Eli has been running for his life like no other time in his career.
This offense is very complex and if he has no faith in the guys in front of him, he can't really be expected to execute the plays. If he's off by a yard to the inside or the outside, there's a good chance he's getting picked.
I think it's natural to be concerned but in the end, he'll be okay.
Contrary to BBI's GT brain trust, he's not physically throwing the ball badly and he didn't even play that horribly today, outside of two throws. So long as he survives this season physically, he's absolutely fixable, long-term.
Whatever is wrong, however, isn't going to be fixed in-season, by this coaching staff. They had an offseason to get the wheels back on after last year's swoon, and the offense/passing game came back worse than ever.
If he's going to be the QB here going forward, the Giants need to give him a fresh start. If they're not willing to do that, it's time to thank him for his years here and move on, for both the team's and his own good.
"he has to flip it out to him" with d-lineman who are rushing him and/or have their arms up.
simple throw, right?
maybe if they just freaking rub-routed Cruz open like most normal teams would, it wouldn't have taken that long for that play to develop.
just a weird throw to pick on. IMO the bad throws were going back to the out after the pick. the 10 yard out was a disaster waiting to happen even if it was a good throw
but let me ask you this. Eli carried the D in 2011 until the D got it together for our SB run..Why is it out of the realm of plausability that Eli and co., gets it in gear as the strwtch drive continues? Of course, we need to win the next two weeks for there to be a stretch drive..
you're defending Eli as though he's a 2nd year QB who can't be expected to make good plays.
He's a 10th year QB who is one of the highest paid players in the game. Up the bar a little bit maybe? Those two plays were an 11 point swing right there.
Eli Manning is fucking awesome and possibly the greatest winner this franchise has ever seen. He's having a down season but at no point for the remainder of the time he wears a Giant uniform will I EVER legitimately worry about him.
Second, the passing game/offense is worse than the defense was that year. It's worse than it was when things turned around late in 2007, for that matter.
It's not like their issues just popped up and are contained to this season either. If they haven't made up any ground by now, after all this time, I'm just not buying a fix being anything but a pipe dream.
It was a perfect throw if Cruz breaks to the outside, which is what eli expected, but Cruz planted left and cut back inside. He tricked his QB with his body language on the juke. Fairly confident that's why Cruz was upset with himself. Little things like turn td passes into ints
When he fell on that sack today it was comical. The OL is bad and Eli's inability to escape has become glaring this season. He could create some plays in the past, not now.
RE: I believe with age he has become even less mobile, if that's possible.

People, I think, really underestimate how much his being slow limits his game. It is rare he can continue a play moving out of the pocket (yeah, I know about the Tyree play) and is running for a first down is like a once a season event. Those are plays that keep drives going.
Not to be a game manager. His play has been terrible. He shows no fire or emotion. He misses easy throws in crucial spots every damn game. Meyers wide open at the 10 yd line vs Bears...etc..etc
I think he has sped up his internal clock because the OL is horrible and the result is he rushes passes to open receivers and misses them or forces balls into coverage.
Not worried about him but until he has a break out game or our OL suddenly improves we will continue to see Aww Shucks Eli bouncing passes and throwing picks.

Eli has never had any mobility in terms of forward speed. So if he's even slower now in that regard, it's a decline from a very poor starting position. He's always been very heavy footed. But he's always compensated with good pocket presence and awareness, which has helped minimize how bad the OL really has been the last few years. Now the OL is so bad, even his awareness isn't enough. And the sacks just bring frustration which causes him to force passes.
This is on Coughlin and Reese. Coughlin for convincing Reese to keep Diehl another year, and Reese for allowing it to happen. Reese's mid round OL picks have also produced nothing, so we have no replacements.
They know Eli has no mobility, and therefore how critical it is to give him at least a decent OL. But they didn't. They let it deteriorate to the level of a bad high school team.
That in no way excuses all of Eli's bad throws, but it is a factor, along with no running game.
There's something wrong. But he's putting up a horrible season.
*Disclaimer, there will be a resistance on here claiming only 2 of Elis league leading 16 picks were his fault.

And it was very windy today.
you're talking the one against the blitz on that stupid long-developing flat route? there's fucking 3 guys in his face when he throws it

He's slumping right now. Let the D carry us until he gets things staightened out with this O..
If you're worried, fine...Knock yourself out

How many more pick 6s we gonna have to see? And the throw to Cruz who was wide open was a horrible throw.

Again, Eli Manning is fucking awesome.

It absolutely is more than "fair" to worry about Eli "at this point".
If you can't admit that, you need spectacles.
you're not bringing a debate, you're saying the same thing over and over again with no factual basis in anything
Eli is not the problem with this team, the problem is a front office that is squandering some of his prime years.
