First, we all need to get aboard the Train Powered by Positive Thinking. If you're at all familiar with the "Law of Attraction," then you may believe that envisioning success attracts that success.
Granted, it'll take a lot of us to counteract those who simply live in a world where everything "sucks."
So with that, here is what we will see unfold the rest of the way. And no, I do NOT envision this as unrealistic at all.
Week 11
Redskins (4-6) beat the Eagles (5-6)
Giants (4-6) beat the Rodgers-less Packers

See it. And it will happen.
Remember, see what you wish to see in the future, and don't dwell on what has passed. This is possible.
Are You Ready For a Miracle? - ( New Window )
Keep the Dream Alive .
That said...I've never been out like some fans here. I always thought the Giants could win this division and never lost faith, although it was rocky for awhile there and we are still not out of the woods yet.
GB, Dallas and Redskin games are the biggest on the schedule.
who cares about the rest?
Maybe something referring to a maiden aunt or your drunk uncle joe?
I am part of the "Giants faithful" and given we're only 1.5 games out after going 0-6 who knows if we can find a way to win the NFC East, but I think the 0-6 hole will be too big to climb out of.
I will be very surprised and glad if we end up 8-8 after going 0-6. If that proves to be sufficient to win the division (meaning we got a lot of help from other teams), so be it.
Is your scenario possible... yes.
Will it happen, probably not now that you laid it out perfectly.
I am not a Fewell fan but I am impressed with how the defense is playing.
On the flip side the offense scares the hell out of me.
That being said I think we will miss the division by more than 2 games. I am still sticking with my pre season prediction of 6 and 10.
They will lose : San Diego, Washington once, Detroit and Seattle.
I hope I am wrong... The offense and special teams just needs to stop making mistakes... costly mistakes..
We will not beat a good team the way we are winning games right now.
But thanks for the break down of the schedule it was informative.
Although in the NFL you can never assume a win or a loss.
while I love the op's enthusiasm and optimism, I just dont see that happening given the current state of our beloved team..
special teams are killing us and we are nowhere near where we need to be offensively, plus we have not been tested through the air defensively in the last 3 wins
i'm enjoying the current win streak but am trying to remain realistic about where we will wind up in 2013 given the obvious weaknesses of our team
matt barkley, josh freeman, and terrelle pryor aint exactly tony romo, rg3, phillip rivers, and/or the detroit lions in detroit
just sayin..
8-8 4-2 can win. Still thinking 9-7 is possible. KEEP THE DREAM ALIVE!
This year the Giants are getting healthy (more in cohesion and players coming back to full strength) playing teams that are not at full strength while building momentum. They still have not played a great clean game yet but that is the beauty of it, win ugly until things start really working well. Yesterday the wind played a major role in the offensive hiccups. The play calling is still not great (in terms of type of plays called at times of the game where momentum is needed or where momentum can be given away too easily) but there is something very important going on that nobody is really talking about.
The Giants running game is vastly improved since the start of the season. Jim Cordle seems to have settled in at Center and though not great, is not a huge liability either. The Running Backs we have now- bigger, bulkier and stronger, are allowing us to pound on teams. Its not the yds per carry that matter, it is the number of runs we are calling. Andre Brown was great yesterday and showed more burst and movement than any back we have on the current roster. With Jacobs coming back soon, we will have 3 big backs that can block, run and in some respects catch the football. by shortening the game (like yesterday) and by getting teams to over commit to stop the run, the Giants offense will soon be able to use play action passes again.
The packers game will be tougher than some think, regardless of their 3rd string QB. We have to continue to run the ball to lessen the risky throws that have cost Eli all season. The Dallas game is perfect for the Giants as the Boys have a very thin Dline and they will need to over play the run to slow the Giants down. The Giants will be able to take advantage of that over playing and attack a weaker defensive backfield.
The Skins game looks like a good matchup for the Giants improved defense as they will stop the run and get after RGIII.
San Diego doesn't really scare me and it may be the game that Eli gets off slump and throws for 300+ and some scores.
The season then comes down to 3 games- Seattle, Detroit and the Skins again. If the Giants go and 2-1 they win the division. If they go 1-2 they could still win the division if the Boys and Eagles falter but the Boys need to lose some in division games.
I think Seattle is a tougher matchup with our offense against their defense and the Lions a tougher matchup of our Defense against their offense. BUT, both games are winnable...
I think the Gmen roll the rest of the season (not always pretty but still victorious) and win the division at 10-6. Nobody scares me in the NFC. 49ers offense is beatable. Seattle has won games this year that they should have lost and they have struggled with a weak oline. Detroit, Chicago and Green Bay are all beatable. The panthers are the one team that scares me most because of their defense but besides that the Giants have the ability to play with anybody.
The biggest issue that MUST stop are the stupid turnovers that plague this team. You can't give the other team points each week and expect to win. The Giants defense has not allowed anyone to really do damage (albeit with subpar QB play against them) to them in weeks. Even the Bears struggled all second half of the Thursday night game, which marked loss #6 for the Giants, to get anything going. take away points that Eli and the offense gave the Bears and the Giants defense was pretty darn solid.
Giants won the Super Bowl in 2011 with a 9-7 record, where in the middle of the season they were pretty pathetic. They started this year pathetic but in reality were in the games against the Boys, Eagles and Bears all the way till the end. All of those games the Giants offense beat themselves with turnovers or the special teams was anything but special.
If the Giants continue to build on what they have done the last 3.5 games, they will be in a position to do something very special this year... I am all in and I believe this team has something special happening and maybe with the return of some injured players- T2, Andre Brown, the trade for Jon Beason and the bringing back of a 2 time SB Champ and emotional leader in Brandon Jacobs, some magic has suddenly appeared.....
That's a lot to envision..
We lose to SD, Seattle and Detroit....so 6-10 or 5-11....
This offense, after 9 games, is what it is.....this defense has played well against losing teams.....I just don't see them having big games against the rest of the schedule(GB without a qb yes, but the rest no)...
It's been a frustrating year watching this team...even their wins are gut wrenching....while there is still a chance, the likelyhood that this offense will somehow just turn it "on", just does not seem feasible with this OL, no TE, and a running attack that hinges on an injury prone RB....
I actually really believe and I don't care if every single win the rest of the way is an ugly one as long as we win. At the same time, I can't help thinking about what this season would have looked like if they played up to their potential. They could almost have the division wrapped up. Hell, if they even won just 2 of the 5 games they could/should have, then they are in 1st place.

Now dare I say, if they happen to win the SB (yeah day dreaming of miracles), it would be the most memorable season in the history of sports!!!!

"They said Marvin Austin, Travis Beckham, and Clint Sintim couldn't play in the NFL" - oops went a little TOO far.
I prefer to stick with door number one.
Dorgan, you could choose to let that stuff be. I'll have enough anecdotes, over time. Hang in there.
