I have to pick the 2007 playoff game, which was actually played in 2008.

I watched the game with my father at his assisted living facility. That was the last thing we ever did together. He died the next day.

Game was for the division and we just came out like we were on a fucking mission and right then and there, you knew.. they had hit their stride and it was happening again..

That game is right up there for me too.

No one thought we had a chance. The Giants went into their house and played a perfect game.

The Joe Danelo FG game that put the Giants into the playoffs after years of craptacular football. I think it was in 1981

but there was something really special about the 1981 win on the last day of the regular season. I'll never forget it. My first 13 years as a fan were ones of futile hopes. 1981 (& LT) changed that. It was a beautiful thing..

but Eli's first 4th quarter comeback in week 17 of his rookie season, when he checked to a run on the final play and Tiki took it in, was a fun although ultimately meaningless game. It did give us a glimmer of hope after a rough, rough start and some positive vibes going forward into the next season though.

just loved going into Dallas, the #1 seed, 13 - 3 in the regular season. after them sweeping the Giants in the regular season, scoring 76 points in those two games.

winning that game was awesome.

Dallas had the ball for 36:30 but our defense gave up nothing after the Cowboys scored their last points of the game on the first drive of the second half. It was near 7 minutes the Cowboys had the ball. I think on the kickoff return Hixon had a return that gave the Giants the ball at midfield. The Giants went nowhere but McQuarters had a nice punt return that put the ball inside Cowboys territory after the defense pushed the Cowboys back and the combo of an unnecessary roughness call for a hit on Strahan. Crayton had that drop on 3rd down....

On the next Giants posession (first play of 4th quarter) Eli had another huge 3rd down throw on a curl route to the right that was caught by Steve Smith. Then Jacobs spiked the ball at the clock after the TD. I think the Hixon and McQuarters returns were such a huge part of this game because of field position. Nobody scored after this and of course, Dallas was shut out. When Romo threw that ball I knew something would happen and when it was caught by RW I went wild.

...from the 2007 playoff game or the 2 regular season 2011 games and half the responses (including mine) were exactly those games.

I did find a loophole, though.. the one I picked was played in 2012, so...

Also, the 1999 Monday night game at Giants Stadium in which Deion Sanders ran back a punt with a few seconds left in the game, seemingly to win the game, but was called back due to a penalty. Also, because I was there. Fun games to be at.

freak play, I was thrilled to win this game when Dallas out-played us.

I forget exactly when it was. We were ahead in the fourth quarter, but by the end of the game our defense had collapsed and Dallas was moving down the field at will. They marched methodically down to our goal and all they needed to do was call another play to score the winning points, but they had run out of time outs and the game ended before they could get the play off.

I loved this game not because we won, but because Dallas lost so horribly. There is no question in my mind that if there had been a fifth quarter, Dallas could have scored about 35 unanswered points.

Great game. A long time coming. I was there.

...Saturday game - bitterly cold day - heavy snow Friday into Saturday - Bjorn Nitmo kicks three FGs - Otis Anderson runs for one score (Nitmo misses the PAT) - Giants make a 4th quarter goal line stand with the Giants Stadium decibel level off the charts to preserve a 15-0 shutout.

It was a fun game and Tiki set two rushing giant records that day (most in a career and most in a season) and Eli showed guts to change the last play to do or die running play.

Home opener in their new stadium is up there in my books. Playoff wins aside, the look on J. Jones' face was outstanding and it will forever be embeded in my memory.

versus Dallas is my favorite.

To fully understand the 81' win that launched the Giants into the playoffs, you have to understand 3 things:

1. Before 81', the Giants were a laughingstock of a franchise. Nearly 20 years of futility, dating back to the Allie Sherman days. The best thing about Sundays at Giants Stadium were the tailgate parties, not the football. The offense was awful - no skill players - even Larry Csonka was ineffective.

2. In the 70's, the Giants were the Cowboys bitch. Giants stadium would be PACKED with Cowboy fans. Fair weather-arrogant know-nothings. The rivalry against the Eagles didn't really exist as it does today - DALLAS was the one game Giant fans would sell the rest of the season for.

3. This win was huge because it opened the door for the playoffs - PLAYOFFS for the first time since JFK.

The game itself was a nail-biter, with wild swings of momentum, and victory from the jaws of defeat with Danelo redeeming himself with that OT Field Goal that immediately triggered a level of euphoria unmatched for Giant fans until Plax caught that Fade.

Right in the endzone where we recovered a Romo fumble and ran it in for the score, the only win in those awful red jerseys at the time.

It's still one of my favorite Giant moments of all time, right up there with all the playoff wins and Super Bowls.

Matt did a great review of it. If you haven't read it or seen the clips, do so before the game this Sunday, it is worth it.

Those stand out in my mind. Not only was the '81 game the most meaningful NY/Dallas game ever, but it may be the most important regular season win for the Giants franchise in the last 50 years.

And 2009 was just sweet. I'd loved the way Eli stuck it to Jerrah.

because it was the first time we beat Dallas since I started watching football. Another great one was the '96 "arrogance served" game. We were awful and Dallas was defending champs and upsetting them was so sweet. As bad as the late 70's were with front running Dallas fans, the 90's were worse. they'd infest our stadium and those fucking Mooooose calls every time that shithead touched the ball made me sick. The roar that would go up from those front running idiots every time Emmitt Smith would rip off a big run was really tough to take. Giving them a nice spanking for one day in the dying days of the Dan Reeves era was really sweet.

Was in 1968, the Giants upset Dallas in Dallas to go 6-3 on the season...Henry Davis the Gianks rookie MLB looked like the second coming of Willie Lanier. The Giants had three interceptions including a 89 yard return by SS Bruce Maher.

Then in 1970 in New York, Ron Johnson...


The Giants did not make the playoffs either year...but defeating the Cowboys of Meredith, Perkins, Reeves, Hill, Hayes, Neely, Lilly, Pugh, Howley, Jordan, Green, Renfro...Landry...provided hope. I was too young to fully comprehend the chasm that existed between the two organizations...talent and management were so superior.

Giants 28 Cowboys 7. It wasn't as close as the score. That was the first time in fifteen years as a Giant fan that I actually dared to believe we had a good team. And for a devout Simms fan, that game was a first early glimpse of redemption after five years of making excuses for my guy.

....was the 1993 week 18 OT loss at the meadowlands 16-13......I believe it was winner takes all... Division,Home field for playoffs etc....Emmit Smith took the biggest beating from our defense and played unbelievable with a separated shoulder from a first half hit and carried the team to the victory....crushing loss but great game.

Playing by those rules - 1997 in Dallas to close the season. Giants hadn't won in Dallas in seven years, so it was immensely satisfying to put the exclamation point on a 6-10 season for them by spanking them in their house. Michael Irvin bawling on the bench as the final seconds ticked away, Tito Wooten waving a broom around while taunting the crowd...loved it.

The real answer is totally 2007 though.

because to me the two easy choices are the 2007 Divisional playoff game and the 2011 JPP/Eli game.

The 2011 JPP/Eli game may be my favorite Giants regular season game ever. And the 2007 playoff game is right there with the 2011 San Fran game as the two best non-SB games during those 2 runs.

But outside of that, probably beating Dallas at the opening of their stadium. That was a great game and Eli signing his name was a priceless incident.

they come into our building and get stomped 35-14. That was the 2008 group in the midst of their peak, looking like the best team in the league. I remember Mike Jenkins wanting no part of tackling Derrick Ward as he went in for a TD.

2005 for the division in the red was good too as well as 2009, the first win in the new stadium.

There was the game in 81 which propelled the Giants into the play offs for the first time since 63, that is hard to top.

There was also the game in 80 Ray reffered to above

And of course the 07 game is difficult to top.

I guess the 81 game and the 07 game are 1a and 1b - 1a going to 81 because it had been preceded by 18 years of pretty lousy football.

Surely not the best of the games vs. Dallas, but I'm biased because I was at this one.

The Cowboys stunk, and showed up with Chad Hutchinson at QB. The Giants were fighting for a playoff spot, and got a bunch of help in the early games when Atlanta and New Orleans both lost right around kickoff.

The game against Dallas was over before the end of the 1st quarter, it was 21-0 Giants, including a long fumble return by Kenny Holmes for a TD (Barrow forced it). It was 37-0 Giants until a TD by Dallas with under 2 minutes left.

With the win the Giants were within 1 in the Wild Card race, and by the end of play the following week (the big win in Indy) they controlled their own destiny and won the WC in OT vs. Philly in the last game of the season.

Then, something happened in San Fran. I can't really remember.

The Austin Overthrow game stands out because it's the only time that I can remember when I turned from the TV and said "season over" and it wasn't. I remember the '80 & '81 Danelo games, but they did not lead to better things those years.

Even though we lost the next week, the first '11 game saved the season, and won us the Super Bowl. I know there were lots of other reasons why we won the SB that year, but this was the comeback of comebacks, the season-on-the-brink of seasons on the brink.

It also reminds me most of how much I love this team, because I walked about 10 paces away from the TV (I was in a large motel lobby) and turned around, thinking "I just can't bail on this team". I must have had '07 in mind...

I have to agree with you. After the Dez Bryant TD in that first 2011 game, I literally just accepted that the season was over. I was already working my way from grief to acceptance. And we weren't negative nancies to do so... it was quite realistic to believe the season was over (I didn't even think the season was over when we were 0-6 this year). Yet we ended up winning the Super Bowl that year. Pretty damn inspiring.
