Let's go GMEN!
Danny Kanell : 11/24/2013 9:25 am : link
Can't believe we have a huge game like this this late into the season after starting 0-6. I'll take it. Keep the streak alive.
It is COLD

is going to be PUMPING today ... Romo is in big trouble

the two big worries for me: (1) how we handle the wind, and (2) special teams.
Look for a
area junc : 11/24/2013 9:37 am : link
big play early to get the crowd going
Eric I think we are better built to handle the wind
Giants11 : 11/24/2013 9:39 am : link
our Defense is much better, and our running game is starting to round into shape. Special Teams? ehhh you have a right to be concerned :-)
With the wind making the downfield game difficult today,
mako J : 11/24/2013 9:43 am : link
How many catches does Witten get? He had what 17 once? Big challenge for JWill and Will Hill
The Giants could really use a great run game performance today.
Riggies : 11/24/2013 9:45 am : link
They aren't likely capable of it (just being less bad due to more consistency/doing something more like they have recently in the run game does not an actually threatening attack make), but they're not going to be able to jack with their already problematic passing game if the wind/weather is as bad as some are saying it will be. They need to somehow make like it's 2008, in one of those games where Eli & Co are all but irrelevant and they still put forth a quality offensive effort.

The Cowboys' offense is going to suffer too, but I'm highly doubtful they'll be impaired enough for the Raider/Eagles games formula to be enough.
my big concern is demarco murray
area junc : 11/24/2013 9:46 am : link
cowboys are looking for a big game from him today

Quote:
Sunday could be a good day for Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray when he faces the New York Giants.

Murray has averaged 5.4 yards per carry in three career games against the Giants. He rushed for 86 yards on 20 carries in the Week 1 victory. Murray's five games with over 100 rushing yards include a 131-yard effort against the Giants in the 2012 season opener.

Aside from Murray's success against the Giants, some NFL teams tend to run the ball more when the temperatures drop and conditions worsen. On Oct. 20 against the Philadelphia Eagles, quarterback Tony Romo noted how difficult it was to throw in the windy conditions.

Sunday's forecast in East Rutherford, N.J. has temperatures in the 30s with winds coming in at 24 miles per hour.

"I don't think it's really that big of a factor," Murray said. "While you're out there, you're never thinking, 'Oh, it's hot.' You're never thinking, 'Oh, it's cold,' until you're on the sideline, really. It's not a big deal."

With the Cowboys' passing attack struggling, the run game could be a focal point against the Giants.

Now we are stuffing the sh#t outta RBs but shown no ability to stop him in the past. Cows will look to protect Romo

extend the season another week.
This isnt the 2012 Giants who couldnt stop anyone running
Blue Blood : 11/24/2013 9:53 am : link
and its not the same Giants defense from week 1 either. Did that defense have Beason and Will Hill on it.. did it have a healthy JPP and Tuck?? Did it have the ability for the Giants to play their very effective 3 safety package with Rolle as a defacto LB.. nope...

The weather
silverfox : 11/24/2013 9:53 am : link
Actually favors the cowboys. In any other year when the giants had a strong running game and the cowboys had a strong secondary this lousy weather would favor the giants.

This year the cowboys secondary sucks and with 30mph wind gusts Eli will have very few opportunities to exploit them. In fact the wind spells turnovers. Couple that with weak giants running game I think this game is going to be very hard for the giants offense to score very many points.

It's going to come down to yhe giants defense to shut the cowboys offense down for the giants to win.
This game today is the season as far as I am concerned
Blue Blood : 11/24/2013 9:54 am : link
Its not win or go home.. but it could be lose and shut the door...

Go Giants!
Keep the expectations real.
RDJR : 11/24/2013 10:11 am : link
We know who we beat the last four games, and we know how we've looked through the first ten. We are not world beaters but are going to have to scratch and crawl for whatever we get. Cowboys are the best team we've played in over a month. Let's hope the 0-6 Giants don't show up, however, I'm not entirely convinced that they will not. Trying not to expect too much. Go Giants!!!
Went to saturday Mass yesterday
Jimmy Googs : 11/24/2013 10:12 am : link

Now I have too much free time waiting for this game to start!

Cowboys 19

Sitting down ... Nut up and get on the train or get off !!! This us a huge game and this team is not the same as it was in Sept!

Go Giants!
No offense junc
j_rud : 11/24/2013 10:30 am : link
but what Murray has done in the past against the Giants means absolutely nothing. It's stating the obvious but he's never faced this Giants defense. As you said, they've been stuffing some of the run including some of the best backs in the league. It would be unexpected and pretty demoralizing if a struggling Dallas run game found traction against this D at home.
I think Dixon takes one to the house

and defense in this weather. Both passers will be hampered. Better double Witten because he will be getting a lot of short hitters from his buddy Romo all day to move the ball. Especially if we stop the run, which w are capable of. Power running by Brown , Jacobs, Hillis with Conner paving the way might work for us. They will double Cruz so Nicks and Randle have to step up along with the TEs and FBs.

jcn56 : 11/24/2013 10:34 am : link
I think this is going to get ugly for Dallas up front. I don't think the deep passing game is going to do wonders for anyone today. I've been out for an hour this morning here in Brooklyn, and my son and I tried to throw the football around. Neither one of us is an NFL caliber QB, but that wind is practically an extra DB or two out there, it's just knocking shit down. I'd have to imagine it's going to be much worse in the Meadowlands.

Now couple that with a stifling DT rotation and the weakness of the Cowboy interior OL, on a cold blustery day, we have the right environment for a Giant defensive beatdown.
jcn,

Haven't checked any weather reports, but I take it, be it Brooklyn or Jersey, there's tough winds over a wide area, yes?

Eli Manning needs to step up today

he's had a shitty year, but has in team back in a position to keep playoffs hopes alive with a divisional win.
Let's not forget that bad wind is also going to turn
Exit 172 : 11/24/2013 10:44 am : link
any of our field goal attempts into a fiasco. So the Giants will really need to be thinking touchdowns on every drive, and we can probably expect to see the Giants go for it on a few 4th downs.

Bailey, however, has a leg, so I think the Cowboys will have a shot at some medium-range field goals.
Please TC, if we win the toss,

Obviously, it will be hard to throw deep
Doomster : 11/24/2013 10:55 am : link
with possible wind gusts of 20-30 mph....

So whichever team has the best short to intermediate passing game, should prevail....but then there are those nasty turnovers....it decided the first game, it will decide this one too...

With these weather conditions, if one team falls behind significantly, it will be very hard to play catch up....but this Giant team has never gone for the jugular when it has a team on the ropes.....

This offense has done nothing since the first two games....time for it to wake up....hopefully Nicks, if he is physically able, can have that game we have been waiting all year for....

If the wind is prevailing in one direction
PEEJ : 11/24/2013 10:58 am : link
look for teams going into the wind to run the ball and eat the clock. Then throw with the wind at their back
Romo
Eric from BBI : Admin : 11/24/2013 10:59 am : link
is probably going to target Witten 20 times in this game with the wind conditions.

It's time for JWill to step up and shut down the Romo to Witten connection today. He's been getting better and this would be a tremendous opportunity for him to step up.
Concern today has to be turnovers…...
Simms11 : 11/24/2013 11:16 am : link
I keep hearing that the Giants won't have 6 turnovers again today, however this weather is not going to help in that regard. I just hope that Dallas is the team putting the ball on the ground today.
The weather favors Dallas big time
deadkurtrulz : 11/24/2013 11:17 am : link
They will stack the box and dare Eli to throw. Eli has been throwing badly in perfect conditions all year. The conditions today are similar to the conditions for the Giants Eagle playoff game in 2008 when Eli was helpless. Also, I have ZERO confidence in Josh Brown making any kicks in this wind.

The Giants need to run the ball and force turnovers to win. If Dallas scores early it could get very ugly if Eli needs to bring Giants back.

Giants need to score first and have defense stuff run and batter Romo.

Dallas secondary has been a weakness
PEEJ : 11/24/2013 11:19 am : link
I'm not sure they can survive with 8 in the box (even with the wind)

Floyd just dropped 3.5 million on Dallas +2.5

They guy is known for high stakes bets and is usually spot on. So, I decided to look around to see who the heavy hitters were on today and it looks like about 80% are on Dallas as well.

Kiss of death or are we over-analyzing this game and we get the win?

Why waste him for that? Have him go out on patterns so Romo can get to him before the blitz gets there.
If, in fact, Dallas schemes to make Eli throw

This would be a good game for Nicks to purge the drops from his game and for Myers to show up ready.

It's nasty out there. Granted, wind conditions can change at any given point in time, but the marine forecasts currently say we're getting a steady 20 knots with 40 knot gusts inshore, which usually looks worse in East Rutherford because the winds start to swirl like crazy over there.

Eric - these marine forecasts
jcn56 : 11/24/2013 11:45 am : link
(which are via subscription from Sirius) are usually pretty dead on in terms of accuracy - say that we're looking at a steady 20 with the gusts until after 11 PM.
Not quite sure but this might be the windiest game the Giants
micky : 11/24/2013 11:47 am : link
have played in since in Metlife. The wind here are gusts at times, but not steady. Like Eric said, by game time the wind may or may not lessen, but, what I learned through the years at the Meadowlands, when there's even slightests of wind..it seems much more there because the area in.
