Which team Benefits from Cold & Wind?

Gary JC : 11/24/2013 9:34 am
Do the Giants or Cowboys benefit from this cold and wind? Does it matter? Is it a wash? And BTW, I can't tell you how many games of brutal weather I sat in at Giants Stadium. For you guys and gals that are going, bring a large trash bag to sit in. It will keep your feet and toes from going numb and will keep in your body heat. :)
I don't think it benefits either side,
Doomster : 11/24/2013 9:37 am : link
it's the team that can overcome it best, that wins....
Honestly? Neither.
Riggies : 11/24/2013 9:38 am : link
Contrary to current popular belief, the Giants do not have a good, quality run game and the Cowboys don't either.

Maybe the Giants are better adapted to playing a style that tries to hid their offense though, so that may help somewhat.
As far as the cold is concerned I gotta think the Giants get an edge.
BlueLou : 11/24/2013 9:48 am : link
I mean, many of their players live in that weather, at least during the season. Isn't Dallas a much warmer climate overall?

Plus you got Eli and how he's performed in extreme cold before, the 1st playoff game at GB for example. Being a pocket guy is an advantage - run around too much and you're likely to pull a muscle...

Prince is certainly acclimated to it!
Neither.. this isnt the 1980's Giants that thrived

on playing in the cold and wind..
I'd think the team
Bill in UT : 11/24/2013 9:58 am : link
with the best STs, running game and QB with the strongest arm would have an edge.
I remmber a game in some pretty bad
Beez : 11/24/2013 10:00 am : link
weather - ice cold - and it went the Giants' way.

I give us a puncher's chance, and 5-6 weeks ago, any one of us would have taken that and run.
The wind
Bill in UT : 11/24/2013 10:07 am : link
is probably a bigger factor than the cold
This weather favors the cowboys
silverfox : 11/24/2013 10:20 am : link
Because the strong winds will negate their lousy secondary as Eli will have few chances to exploit it deep. This weather favors the team with the best running and special teams which in this case favors the cowboys.

Giants Not because
LauderdaleMatty : 11/24/2013 10:23 am : link
our run game is better but because our run D and D is better. Mainly due to injuries but its there. Plus familiarity of conditions favors Eli. How it turns out who the fuck knows with Gilbride calling plays could be a great game or a clusterfuck.
Cowboys.
AnishPatel : 11/24/2013 10:26 am : link
They have a better passing game at this point. We stink at running the ball, passing the ball, and now our MVP, the FG kicker won't be able to kick 2839128931 FGs all game long, once we get in the red zone.
My Take

Running game
TMS : 10:33 am : link : reply
and defense in this weather. Both passers will be hampered. Better double Witten because he will be getting a lot of short hitters from his buddy Romo all day to move the ball. Especially if we stop the run, which w are capable of. Power running by Brown , Jacobs, Hillis with Conner paving the way might work for us. They will double Cruz so Nicks and Randle have to step up along with the TEs and FBs.
If Nicks is up to it
mrvax : 11/24/2013 10:47 am : link
maybe Eli can get away with tossing him a few jump balls where Nicks can fight for it and win.

If so, the double coverage will shift to Nicks and set Cruz free.
If it's really blowing,
Bill in UT : 11/24/2013 10:53 am : link
the balls into the wind are all gonna be jump balls, lol
Gibride cannot
TMS : 11/24/2013 10:54 am : link
resist longer passes if it is dictated by single coverage. ELi is the same way. It is in their DNA . This could lead to turnovers into the wind and cost us the game if TC does not step in and limit them. We lost the last game on turnovers lets not be dumb again. Giant fan pessimism from a painful past prompts this post.

that's the best alliteration if seen in a long time
Giants defend
JoefromPa : 11/24/2013 10:58 am : link
the run better, but if wind affects the passing game it helps Cowboys worst pass defense in the league.

On the other had, Dallas has only played 3 games outside this year, that helps the Giants.

Over all, it has to help the Giants
On Friday

the weather was similar in Dallas.

Dallas had a chance to practice with the weather conditions that are expected on game day.
Just hold onto the damn football…..
Simms11 : 11/24/2013 11:08 am : link
this weather can often assist with turnovers. Giants have to be real smart today in regards to turnovers. Something they've gotten better at the last four games. A short field could mean the game.
I'd

like to say Giants, but based on how Manning and Weatherford performed against the Raiders...
I def think the weather favors the giants.
kmed : 11/24/2013 11:17 am : link
their defense has the ability to shut down cowboys rushing offense and force them to throw. Bad things will happen today when the balls in the air.
I'll say this though
AnishPatel : 11/24/2013 11:30 am : link
we better stop relying on FGs this game especially with this wind. If you need to be aggressive and go for it on 4th down, fine, but will be interesting since we can't settle for FGs all game long.
We do.
bluefin : 11/24/2013 12:10 pm : link
NYG's ground game and run defense are both clicking right now.
Giants offense still
Blue Bleeder : 11/24/2013 12:40 pm : link
struggling to reach 20 points per game. Cowboys score 20+ most every week.

I would say the wind benefits Giants without a doubt.

*Cowboys are 0-4 since 2000 when temps are 33 degrees and below.
I brought plastic trash bags
djm : 11/24/2013 12:56 pm : link
And put my feet in them during a really cold game in 2008 (panthers nyg) -- my brother and wife to be we're laughing at me in the beginning of the game. They were Envious by 2nd quarter.

Go plastic.
Go plastic for your feet
djm : 11/24/2013 12:58 pm : link
If there is snow or ice under the seats. No matter what kind of awesome warm footage you use Your feet will freeze if they are sitting on ice for 4 hrs. Go plastic.
I think it favors the Cowboys
Milton : 11/24/2013 1:08 pm : link
Mainly because I think that in perfect conditions, the Giants would be favored. So throwing a monkey wrench into the mix favors the weaker team (which in this case is the Cowboys).
Dallas benefits....
Emlen'sGremlins : 11/24/2013 2:00 pm : link
....because Gilbride is on our sidelines.
