Surprised that I didn't see it posted but if I missed it, I'll delete:
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Sunday morning that Hakeem Nicks (questionable, groin) is indeed in danger of missing Week 12.
Per Schefter, Nicks has a strained abdominal muscle, and Schefter received a text message from someone presumably associated with the Giants who said it "might not be looking good" for Nicks to play against the Cowboys. Nicks' absence would be a major matchup upgrade for upstart third receiver Rueben Randle, and a blow to Eli Manning's Week 12 fantasy football outlook. The Giants and Cowboys don't play until 4:25PM ET Sunday afternoon. |
jesus christ.
Agent told him to get an abdomen issue checked out. Not the trainers or doctors, but agent?
Still don't see Nicks on the field. Just Cruz with the wideouts. #nyg
Eli is throwing passes to Cruz. No sign of Nicks. I fear I'm going to be surprised afterall.
Piece of shit
to wonder if Nicks is simply shutting it down in preparation for free agency.
How does that make any sense?
Seriously
Then on Thursday, Nicks says his agent told him to get his stomach checked out.
Coughlin on Thursday: "They say its better to explain it as an abdominal, whatever that means."
Nicks on Friday, are you playing: "C'mon, it's Dallas."
he has not looked good since the first Eagles game.
My gut says he's checked out.
Frankly, other than this season's opener, there isn't much he's done since getting stepped on last season by the Bucs that is going to help him in FA.
Something about this situation reeks, I agree, but if he has checked out, he's basically just pissing away more money at this point and certainly not saving or earning himself any.
For Christ sake, he practiced on Thursday and Friday. This game is the season.
Don't forget the lemmings follow your lead.
You are also making the determination that he's dogging it by not playing today without any medical report.
Have you missed most of the discussions on this board? Giants fans outside of this place? The media, locally and nationally? He has his legion of excuse-makers sure, but by and large, the QB has and continues to take plenty (most) of blame for this mess.
People acting as though Nicks is getting singled out and scapegoated for the entire team's/offense's failures are honestly starting to venture into Diehl fanboy territory.
I don't recall a player trying to string together a couple of underwhelming, injury plagued years as part of the whole strategy to get paid.
Another theory: the guy who had been plagued by injuries much of career is--get this--injured.
That would have helped him out this year, wouldn't have it?
Again, coaches and Eli talked this week about Nicks missing the offseason work.
Makes no sense.
Sucks, but Nicks hasn't been much of a producer thus far this year, and while taking him off the field is a negative I'm not sure how big a negative it is at this point, especially if he's just mentally not there.
This includes the practices.
If you guys played football you would understand.

There's not a person on this board who's read your posts that has ever believed for a second that you've seen a football up close, let alone played it.

Right. If he just doesn't want to be out there, the Giants are better with him not out there. And they're better still with a full understanding of his mental status before considering off-season contract negotiations.
But Nicks hasn't been Nicks all year.
Is he the first receiver to do this? And we still don't know if he skipped the play for a legit reason: needed a breather or banged up something.
Players come in and out of the field on every play. Why is this time something evil?
And I'm sorry, if he's that affected by people saying "mean" things about him (which haven't even been awful in reality, compared to what other players have gotten and get), he's a bit of a bitch. You're not actually defending him by bringing that stuff up; you're making him sound like he's mentally weak.
*I say allegedly because I still don't believe Nicks, based on his track record, would throw that type of selfish hissy fit. Maybe after the game, when his agent gets into his ear, but in-game, in the moment, no.
You can belive me or not, I honesly dont care.
He's a winner
good call!
