Who thinks the Giants can win Sunday?

Fort Mill Mike : 12/14/2013 9:31 am
Not going to win, but at least make a game of it and have a chance in the 4th quarter?

Seeing the Giants helpless out there like last year against Baltimore and Atlanta and like the final games of 2009 has crossed my mind, but I have a gut feeling the Giants play their asses off at home, with nothing but pride on the line. They are in position to play hard but loose, have some fun out there and pull off an upset like the 1998 win over the unbeaten Broncos.

I'd at least be happy to see the Giants play a good game and hang with arguably the top team in the NFC.
No.
SanFranGiantsFan : 12/14/2013 9:35 am : link
I'm hoping they're competitive, but I doubt it. Not only is Seattle playing for a lot, they are much more talented than we are.
there's always that 1% chance
mattlawson : 12/14/2013 9:40 am : link
no one should think it's any more than that based on what they've seen this year.
Not me
Phil in Joisey : 12/14/2013 9:43 am : link
Afraid that we might be looking at another embarrassing blowout.
I think they can
deadkurtrulz : 12/14/2013 9:45 am : link
I am not ready to give Seattle the Lombardi just yet. The Rams had them beat and gave it away. Their offense is shaky to me. Giants play the run well and strange things can happen to passes outdoors in the NJ winds.

Giants could conceivable keep the game close and make a play at the end to win. I will be rooting for this scenario.

If Giants turn the ball over it will get ugly very quickly. We all know that.
You always try to "think" that the Giants can win each week
Jimmy Googs : 12/14/2013 9:52 am : link
but sometimes you run into these type of games where it just looks like it will be a blow out. Seattle would really need to be careless with football for us to win.

Best case scenario for Giants is that they go into halftime either with a small lead or at least showing enough momentum that they give themselves enough confidence to play hard until the end.

If we fall behind more than 7 points in first half...good night.

Giants are soft
Dan in WNY : 12/14/2013 9:57 am : link
this has major blowout written all over it
can they win?
fkap : 12/14/2013 10:08 am : link
absolutely.

Will I place a bet on them winning?

Absolutely not, straight up. you'd have to give me double or triple the 7 pt line before I even think about reaching for my wallet.
I think they'll win.
Miami_JintsFan : 12/14/2013 10:09 am : link
Special teams and defense will both score. Giants 30 Seahawks 20.
I'm going to the game..
Sean in PA : 12/14/2013 10:10 am : link
first time seeing a game at MetLife, I hope they hang in there.
Not a snowballs's chance
Stufftherun : 12/14/2013 10:14 am : link
in East Rutherford.

When it all starts going wrong, and it will, this team just does not have the mental fortitude or fight in them to overcome their inadequacies. That and the O Line is a sieve.
I think NYG keep it close, but lose
Buck Dharma : 12/14/2013 10:15 am : link
Seattle doesn't have a dynamic passing game and have a history of being sluggish in early starting EST games.
I have never gone in to a game(never)...
okiegiant : 12/14/2013 10:18 am : link
thinking the Giants couldn't win. Sure, they might need every break known in order to do so, but I always think there is a chance.

I understand having low expectations but I always try and look for the positive. It just makes the game more enjoyable for me(just me, everyone is a fan in the way which suits them best).
a 1pm game in the cold
Some Fan : 12/14/2013 10:24 am : link
will keep this game tight and maybe allow for a Giants win.
Joke
PaulN : 12/14/2013 10:29 am : link
They will not even compete, and anyone who thinks different are blind.
Paul, why even watch?
okiegiant : 12/14/2013 10:34 am : link
Why waste your time?
Sliver of a chance
Steve in South Jersey : 12/14/2013 10:39 am : link
with Seattle coming off a loss. Giants best chance is a west coast team coming east for a 1 PM game.
It's the NFL...On any given Sunday.......
Doomster : 12/14/2013 10:41 am : link
But realistically? No.....

Snow, then rain, then sun, temps in upper 30's....

Who knows?
we stink
Essex : 12/14/2013 10:44 am : link
. . . they are good. that means we have not much of a chance (but in this NFL you always have a chance). anyway, meaningless (i agree with parcells they're no meaningless games) or not, come sunday--i will be amped up and rooting my heart out for the upset.
Short memories
UConn4523 : 12/14/2013 10:47 am : link
we tend to play well in these games. Too many Giants have contracts to play for and there is still a lot on the line.

I bet it's a 1 score game.

That Said : 12/14/2013 11:09 am : link
By 1 score, do you mean a score like in the Gettysburg Address?

Yeah, I could see them losing by 20 points.
It will take a Giants style meltdown in....
Crispino : 12/14/2013 11:21 am : link
every phase of the game by the Seahawks for the Giants to win. Our best game under the current state of this team surely cannot beat their best, even at home.
A blowout at home
Fast Eddie : 12/14/2013 12:13 pm : link
could just be what pushes Mara into making some changes. Not that he should need that excuse.

We really have no reason to win it
montanagiant : 12/14/2013 12:42 pm : link
But tell me this is not the typical fucking game we pull out of our ass with nothing on the line.
The Giants have .000000000000000001
ZogZerg : 12/14/2013 1:27 pm : link
Chance.
I'll be shocked if the keep it under 14 points.
I dont expect Seattle to play like a Super Bowl Team
dep026 : 12/14/2013 1:28 pm : link
coming from the west coast after two heavyweight matchups.

The problem is all they have to do is play like a Preseason team to beat us.
What are the odds Eli
Simms11 : 12/14/2013 1:46 pm : link
throws another pick or 2? I'm thinking like 98%…….GIants will play tough for a while and then cave in second half.
gotta get that gotta get that

Giants CANT lose tomorrow...
GloryDayz : 12/14/2013 2:45 pm : link
They win, thats always good. Gives us something to feel good about in this shitty season.

They lose, they move up in the draft order. Yep, we've sunk to this level at this point!!!

GO GIANTS... win or lose!!!
I just

WANT A better draft pick and Gilbride Gone

For Xmas.
Can they win? Of course
pjcas18 : 12/14/2013 3:08 pm : link
will they? I doubt it.
If you're rooting for
fkap : 12/14/2013 3:09 pm : link
a new HC next year, this is exactly the type of game which will ruin your hopes when the Giants win.

all year long, I've been on the wrong side of who I'm rooting for (such as Detroit over Eagles,Vikings over Ravens, Giants to win, etc), so I'm rooting for the Giants to win.
WIN!!!
chiefmps : 12/14/2013 3:54 pm : link
Giving everything that did not happen this season it is time to think about next and losing the rest of the game for the best possible draft picks the Giants can get. Win, what good will it do at this point.
I took the Giants getting 6.5 points
oipolloi : 12/14/2013 4:32 pm : link
The reasons I think the Giants can win:

1. I think parity rules this year. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Chargers beat teams like KC and NE in the playoffs.

2. I think if the Giants OL were solid they are on the same plane as the "elite" teams. The OL is not solid but with all the young guys, it is capable of having a strong game against a given opponent. Maybe that happens this week.

Now don't get me wrong, if Giants fall behind early, I could seem them getting down and this thing could turn into a blowout. But I think the Giants might give them a game.
Really?

Are you kidding me? The receivers, Eli, and the RB's are doing nothing.....this defense plays well against backups.....elite? Not even close....
I vote no
Spock : 12/14/2013 5:53 pm : link
I think we get killed. Eli with three mor pics.
No injuries, that is all I am hoping for
nyynyg : 12/14/2013 6:09 pm : link
And sorry but I am not hoping for a win. At this point, it is over, the only upside is a higher draft pick. wins now don't mean anything
Can win?
timintey : 12/14/2013 7:22 pm : link
Sure

Don't think we have a shot though. Seattle will be looking to put the hammer down
Would give us a chance...
M.S. : 12/15/2013 5:23 am : link
...if Eli wasn't getting hammered all the time and throwing the ball like he's getting hammered all the time, but that's wishful thinking.

Eli's protection sucks and Eli has sucked even when his protection is OK.

This game just ain't winnable.
If things hold true to form
djm : 12/15/2013 7:40 am : link
NYG probably hang tough for a while but the game eventually gets out of hand late. I could see a 3-7 point game at halftime but then Seattle pulls ahead in the 2nd half. 30-17 or something like that.

But man a win today would be nice. You never know....
Just food for thought
djm : 12/15/2013 7:42 am : link
But the giants have played pretty well at home the last 2 seasons, despite the shitty overall results. 6-2 last year and despite 3 losses already they have kept the games close for the most part... Denver being the exception.

I think they hang tough.
djm...
M.S. : 12/15/2013 7:52 am : link
...I've got a better scenario.

The Giants play very well, they see promising performances from their younger plays as well as Eli, but at the last moment on a fluke play Seattle wins!

We could use the best draft slot possible.
Giants will win
Great White Ghost : 12/15/2013 9:51 am : link
Because nothing matters, noone expects them too, and it would be the moist agravating outcome possible.

One thing you can count on the Giants doing every week, is getting your blood pressure up, one way or another...
you will know within the first 10 minutes of the game
Matt in SGS : 12/15/2013 10:00 am : link
if Seattle comes out flat and the Giants look ready to go, then I think the Seahawks will put a stinker out there and lose. If the Seahawks bring their A game, then the Giants are in trouble.
Giants Will Win!

I am wearing my 4 time SUPER BOWL ring today for luck...that should be worth at least 14 points!

I AGREE!
Yes

they can win - even early in the season when they played playoff caliber teams - as bad as they played they were in most games until the 3rd or 4th quarter.
