He has size, but I do not see the quickness to his game that is the difference between a Joe Jurevicius/Reggie Williams versus Brandon Marshall/Vincent Jackson. If he cannot separate from DB's what good is he going to be in the NFL?

history shows that not many turn out to be top players. Look at Nicks year, he was about the 5th WR taken, and to date, it is between him and I guess Crabtree as to which have had the best years.
Mike is a franchise wide receiver. He has those strong hands you look for in a #1 wide receiver along with the body type, quickness, and speed to run all the routes and catch the ball. He likes the physical part of the game. On deep passes he will use his big body to shield the ball from the defender like a tight end and he will make the difficult catch while adjusting to the ball in the air. He can get deep because he has surprising quickness off the line, strength down the field and cannot be moved off his route. He has a very high football IQ and understands how to run routes to get open. Mike will move the chains on third down from outside as a wide receiver or being used as a slot receiver. He is a matchup nightmare for cornerbacks because of his size, strength, and quickness. In the slot he is too quick, fast, and has the needed strength equal to deal with the linebackers and safeties. He has excellent feet and great balance and will fight for the ball in the air. He has that nasty attitude that QB’s like to see in a receiver who they depend on to move the chains. Mike will catch the ball when everyone in the stadium knows the ball is going to him. He has good run after the catch skills and, because of his size, is very hard to bring down. I call him Mike (the Hump) Evans because during the most difficult times in a game, when others are struggling and making mistakes, Mike will get the whole team over the hump and back on the right track if you keep throwing him the ball.
Should be a priority. Protecting Eli and reestablishing run game is a priority. Spend the money on Alex Mack for center and don't resign nicks
Move Pugh t right guard and take a chance to see if Beatty can play right tackle. If not then cut him in 2015 and deal with the cap casualty. But Beatty can't play left tackle and sooner or later if Reese doesn't address the left side of the line it will get Eli hurt

I would have agreed until Beatty broke his leg. Now not only is his 2013 play suspect but his physical health is suspect. There are no other guys on the team (except RT Pugh) who can play LT.
LT's are too expensive to land a good one in free agency. I believe the possibility of the Giants liking a guy in the first is certainly there. If not, they still have to come out of this draft with a decent tackle prospect because they can't buy a veteran and can't count 100% on Beatty.

Putting a rookie QB in to play his first snaps of the season served absolutely no purpose. He would have gotten abused and the last thing you want to do is destroy a kids confidence. And besides that, with the mentality we've witnessed from Giants fans this season, could you imagine the backlash when Nassib didn't perform like a Pro Bowler in his first game?
To me, once they are eliminated from the playoffs, I'd want to do what would help the team going forward to 2014. I think giving Nassib some snaps could have built his confidence.
You let the kid know he's playing to get experience, not to be the savior. I don't think fans are stupid enough overall to think Nassib was going to perform on a higher level than their starting QB Eli would.
I'd also have given more snaps to any 1/2 way healthy rookies. However, guys like Robinson were already on the sidelines with injuries and Mosely eventually got injured too.
Our OLine was a complete disaster. They would have gotten Nassib killed. How the hell do you think he would have built up any confidence? His confidence would be destroyed playing behind that line. This wasn't your typical let the rookie play situation, because of the OLine. David Carr went through it and never recovered, as example A.
If anyone was going to get killed behind that OL it should have been Eli

with a bad OL let's draft a slow WR who takes longer to get down the field than anyone we have now.Evan's based on the times I've seen would be one of the slowest WR we have.
And they fixed it without using a first round pick, even the second round pick Hankins played sparingly. That just shows we could fix the OL without being forced to use a first round pick on it.
Note poor route running and inability to separate from DB's while playing the scrubs from Alabama. Also watch how long it took for him to outrun all the Alabama DB's for a TD when thrown to by rag-arm Manziel.
Evans is a poor mans vincent jackson. Hes slow and doesnt create seperate. He is a hand catcher which is what you look for. Hes big and strong and high points the football but the big knock is that he doesnt create seperation. He benefited a ton from manziels ability to extend plays which allowed him time to get open and find the holes in the defense. He seems to me to be a TE playing wideout. The combine will be big for him in determining his draft stock.

I am fine with losing 2 spots by beating the Redskins. After an 0-6 start, avoiding double digit losses for some reason made this season a little less disappointing.

Gaines is a guy who is a big, physical corner who will be drafted coming up and is going to be a very good player. A good case can be made he was the best CB in the SEC this past year. Evans could do nothing with him.
I do not expect the Giants to take a tackle in the first round.
I would prefer an Off. tackle but Evans is 6'5" and would fill our need for a tall wr..then we could let Nicks go without leaving ourselves short at wr.
all WR for our X we can use a burner or explosive playmaker for X. Our offense lacks speed. We have zero speed on offense. I don't want another tall WR.
