here. He was never used in the red zone where he knew how to use his body really well. I used to watch him in camp all the time and thought just give this guy a chance to play
The kid was not utilized correctly. Kinda hard to gets snap as a 5th or 6th wr in the depth chart, even jerrigan didn't get any snaps?.. I still think the kid has talent and maybe he will get a chance to showcase it with the bills.
It's rarely as simple as throwing the ball up high for a tall receiver to go get it. Otherwise, there would be a run on 6'5" and 6'6" receivers in the early rounds of the draft each April.
You have to read coverages. You have to beat jams at the line of scrimmage. You have to run crisp routes. You have to get position on defenders, even when you've got a height advantage on them. You have to have hands. And you need to get yards after the catch. Staying healthy is nice, too. So is contributing on specials.

.
Not utilized correctly? He couldn't beat press coverage of any kind. Period. Tough to climb that depth chart when you can't get out into your route. I was high on him when we drafted him, but the guy was incredibly soft for a man his size.
people used it as an excuse early in his career but in the limited opportunities he was getting early on, he seemed like he knew what he was doing ala playing fast.
fuck, part of why he had such a big day against Carolina was because of the timing he had with eli against those soft zones the panthers were playing. you bump this guy at the line and hes completely useless as a player. He had to apologize for his performance against the jets on twitter
Do so many people think he's this supremely talented WR that the Giants just didn't use properly? He was given chances, sometimes did okay, mostly did not. He was not good in ST's, either. He was a project out of college because of his small school he went to. For a man his size his strength and burst to get off the line is not impressive. He's tall, and that's it. I will be surprised if he makes the Bills, much less have any impact.
he sucks. he can't be used in the red zone because
seem to like to bring in guys from premium rounds who were cut by the team that drafted them. Marvin Austin must be pretty bad if the Bills haven't called him.
biggest problem is their limited special team ability. For a backup wide receiver that is almost a fatal flaw. Barden either has to earn more 1st team reps, find a team willing to create a special package for him, or improve on special teams if he wants to stay in the NFL for much longer.

Don't forget blocking. One thing that made Tiki Barber so good in his latter years was downfield blocking by the WR's especially Plax. He could push a CB or Safety 20 yds down the field.
they got to lose? Maybe they have more compatible coaches for Barden's problems and maybe, like a hole in a hitter's swing, all it takes is fixing one mechanical thing and it has a domino effect to make him productive. If not, they cut him.

A similar case can be made that Jernigan fits in the same mold as well.
If the Giants sign or draft a "Nicks type replacement," where does that leave JJ? Basically in the same spot he is now. A 4th WR who is not going to get significant snaps despite the new offense and can't make an impact on special teams because he isn't very good in that area.
AT that's fine. Throw it high and take adv. of his height. You can use him in the red zone too.
why, I happen to know a certain team in blue that just invested in another system...what a coincidence!

How many of those things does Barden do well?

He played like an all pro for one game against a beaten up secondary. what talents? he never even stood out in preseason games.
That's true. Seems like Matt Dodge 2.0 to me.

Buffalo's pretty much Canada and it's the Bills, so you were barely wrong...
He Should Have Been Green
Zone....If he stays healthy
He'll do good..
BINGO!! what makes anyone think that the light will suddenly go on now, especially after being out of football for a year
The Bills signed him because he is due to catch one sooner or later.
Maybe we can re-sign him to take Barden's place.

and ZERO in his four years with the Giants.
I think he caught one in a preseason game....

Barden's "One Shining Moment"
Not his finest moment.
