But everything I've read says that the Raiders are willing to let McFadden walk because they're intent on re-signing Jennings.

I like RJ.

Not a lot of mileage on him either.

They usually keep 4 RBs and given AB and DW's injury statuses and Cox's unproven-ness, adding another good back is to those three is almost a given IMO.

Jennings is the best FA RB on the market.

Would prefer him over MJD as MJD has a TON on mileage.

The cliff in terms of drop in production for running backs is pretty steep and he is awfully close to the edge.

As Klaatu mentioned, though.. the Raiders are pretty serious about retaining him. Odds of him signing with NYG are probably not all that high. Would love to add him, though.

He had a good year running and is said to be a good blocker. He's from New Jersey I believe. Too expensive?

Not at a repeat of AB's contract from last season, ie $2M+

better than MJD, Moreno, or Donald Brown.

Just don't want to use a lot of money on the position.

Yes, and given that I know first-hand of the neck injuries, it's understandable.

My point was more to say that RJ would stand a good chance at replacing AB on the roster, rather than having DW/RJ/AB plus Cox. We're not going to pay our #3 RB $2M+ on top of UFA $ to RJ, etc.

Agreed it's likely, unless AB's willing to take something close to vet min.

Brown taking the vet min is a good possibility given his history of being injured every season. I don't think any team is going to give him much more..

NYG should be very cautious before trying to tie money into him.. There's quite a bit of FA RB's out there who are more healthy..

But an average back that can catch, run and block capably without fumbling would help this team. I donlike Jennings more than Tate or gerhart. At least this guy would bring credibility to the position and who knows maybe his best days are ahead.

After getting Charles Sims in the 3rd..

Oft injured... And didn't help himself toward the end of last season.

Sims is a stud player. True all around back, and I'm hoping we can land him 4th round. Dudes legit

compared to all the others available? RB's don;t last very long in this league and I know he hasn't had a lot of miles on him, but there is some wear and tear. He might be a nice addition for a few years at least a stop gap measure until the GIants can figure out the position. It also gives them potentially another year without having to use a draft pick on one, unless there is someone we love in the late rounds.

Mostly, RB's are stop gaps anymore or are here to split carries.

Jennings age isnt an issue if he hasn't gotten a lot of mileage on him to tear down his body. A 3-4 year deal would be ideal.

Just mind-boggling how many new starters we could use on this offense...

has only carried the ball 387 times in his 5 years in the NFL.

To put that in perspective:

The Giants 11 ball carriers combined last season ran the ball a total 381 times.

LeSean McCoy led the NFL in total carries in 2013 with 314.

He literally has no mileage on him at all.

Add in his receptions, and he has touched the ball 484 times while losing only 3 fumbles.

Sign Jennings and draft a rb like Sims works just fine for me. Jennings Wilson rookie... Sign me up.

I think it would be foolish spending money on a FA RB with all the holes we have to fill. RB should be one of the last positions we try and upgrade IMO.

is the only RB under contract (I think). By definition the Giants have to sign or draft some RBs.

to get a reliable guy who can be a real NFL RB - Jennings fits that bill, as do a few others. I'd take the cheapest of the group - they're all just fine OK-ish RBs. None are difference-makers, all are useful for a team in our situation.

A solid option in our price range is Gerhart. Gets the tough yards. Solid citizen and leader. Very strong on the blitz pickup. The type of back that will be an asset for years to come.

He has less than 400 carries total in 4 years. Why wouldn't a good RB be sparsely used? In any case, with only 1 career lost fumble and over 30 passes caught last year, he might make an interesting signing.

I sure hope Wilson makes a strong comeback.

he will be a Giant. I thought Jennings & Bell on Detroit were very impressive.

Wilson is coming off an injury.. Brown and Hillis are FA's so even they would need to be resigned..

He has played 53 out of 80 games. He gets dinged up a lot

Jags had some dude with the intials MJD. Last year he toted the rock 163 times.
