Wants to be a starter.& lt;& gt; RT @ebenezersamuel: Hearing that Ryan Mundy likely will not be back with Giants next season.
I'm not too high on Taylor. Would have preferred to keep Mundy. He was solid depth, IMO. If he wants to be a starter, I guess see yah.
I agree. I watched Mundy a lot and while he's not great, I trust him more than Taylor, who scares me when he's out there more than Mundy . He does need time to get there, though.
I'll never forgive the offense for turning the ball over what.. 6 times that night?
Ugh. This season could have went in a totally different direction if we had won that stupid game like we should have. Not that the Giants would have won the Super Bowl.. but odds are we wouldn't have been just about out of it totally by Week 7.
Was like watching a slow motion train wreck. He knew what to do, except he was too slow to do anything about it. Our safeties are are a study in highly diverse personalities …
Rolle- Tough seasoned vet who makes all the plays. If he was just a bit faster, he'd consensus ALL PRO every year
Brown - Ball is attracted to him like a magnet. Big question - will he be the same after his ACL ?
Hill - Best pure athlete on the team (but has rocks for brains)
Taylor - The man with reversible names; Great combination of size and speed. He's very young, I think he's going to be very good, very soon.
Of all the guys I had pegged leaving for a starter spot Â
Is a big loss. I saw something altogether different than you guys. First he was learning how to play "up" in Fewell's defense. That is his key player. Stevie Brown, a center fielder who can't tackle , can't do that. It means Rolle plays 2 roles, which is never a good idea for him. The 3-safety look is integral to Fewell's defense. When he has that down, his Ds play well against teams like the Packers & Pats. As for Mundy, he probably stays in the NFC East. He can help any of the other 3 teams.
came back and Beason was acclimated Mundy's snaps diminished tremendously.
With their personnel the Giants ran less 3 safety formations than in the past (maybe because they had an actual linebacker who could play).
Mundy was solid depth, but he is someone easily replaced IMO.
I wouldn't re-sign Brown either. The only reason I would have considered Brown (or a veteran safety like Mundy) is that Hill's situation is precarious.
but he is a solid veteran safety and depth. With Will Hill in the lineup, Stevie isn't urgently needed as he isn't going to beat out Hill. They can look for a more well-rounded prospect to groom behind Hill (and hopefully Hill stays clean).
who knows how long Rolle will continue to be this durable.
but if the current financial situation means Cooper Taylor is the 3rd safety (or a lesser cost veteran is signed) I can live with it (like I have a choice).
Not much room for injury or suspension though.
Safety is such a weird area for Giants right now. Â
It could be a position of strength or a potential weak spot if things go sour.
If Rolle continues his play from 2013, Hill stays clean off the field, Brown comes back strong, and Taylor develops. Then we are gold. Gold Jerry!
But if Hill gets into trouble and Brown isn't ready to go again, then we became weak. Because now Rolle can't free-lance around the defense as a playmaker and Taylor is exposed as a starter.

This opens the door up more clearly for Stevie Brown to return now.
Yeah....... God forbid the offense scores from the 1 yard line.

Why does Mundy have his own thread?
