There but they are most likely gonna throw a ton of cash at him. Hopefully Tuck realizes the extra million or two isn't worth trading a great franchise for one of the worst.
And just yesterday he was resigning with the Giants
That the grass isn't always greener on the other side. The only way he signs with another team is if they blow away the Giants offer and he can't refuse it. But the Raiders certainly have the cap room to do that. Still can't imagine him wanting to play there unless they overpay big time though.
if Tuck would leave, if only for uprooting his family and his comfort level in the NY area, as well as within the Giants organization.
That said, it is still a business and Tuck's career is winding down. Most players, as they near the end, understand that they will never see a payday like this for the rest of their lives. So while Tuck likely should be set money wise from his Giants contracts, there is still that last shot to make that big money.
If you are an aging DL and you want to get paid, Oakland is the place that aging Pro Bowl DL go to get paid and die (Warren Sapp, Richard Seymour, etc.) I'm sure that the Giants have a competitive offer on the table. Oakland could blow it away easily. It's up to Tuck and his family if that's the route he wants to go.
then their front office hasn't changed a bit. I love Tuck, but his body of work over the last three years doesn't justify a big contract. If he signs with Oakland, good for him, but he (and Oakland) will wind up regretting it.

Tuck wanted to give Giants a chance to match any offer he received. Fact he's visiting Raiders seems to indicate they haven't.
ree agents Justin Tuck and LaMarr Woodley are visiting the Raiders Wednesday.
On Tuesday, Raiders GM Reggie McKenzie let his best offensive lineman (Jared Veldheer) walk, overpaid for Rodger Saffold, let reliable Rashad Jennings walk, let his best defender Lamarr Houston walk and re-signed injury-prone Darren McFadden. So how will he spend the rest of his money? Perhaps on two aging, declining edge rushers in search of a payday. Tuck, who will turn 31 later this month, looked done prior to his 9.5-sack outburst over the final six games of last year. Woodley, 29, has missed 14 games over the last three seasons.

has been so spot on with Tuck and his "production" last year. I would have guessed that they'd all be pimping his 12 sacks as opposed to calling it like it is.
It doesn't appear as though the Gmen are trying all that hard to retain JT, I'd be very curious to know what the Giants offer was.
Seems like the more things change, the more they stay the same in Oakland.
I agree that if the money is overwhelming, he may need to make a decision there for the future of his family. But he also has a tremendous connection with the Tri-State community, active off the field, and he certainly isn't making chump change for his commercial ventures in and around NYC.
I don't see it happening. If it does, so be it, but I'd certainly feel better having him back, and to finish his career in blue.
also didn't seem like a guy who wanted play beyond being "hungry" as a player. I totally get wanting a lot of money (I can't fault him) but the Raiders are absolutely putrid, does he really have it in him to potentially play through injury in a situation like that? It's one thing if God forbid he signed with the Cowboys or Eagles for a lot of money but the Raiders?
I'm reading too far into things but the writers seem to imply the Giants saw Schofield taking on the role they envisioned for Moore last year. Does that imply they are already "moving on" or down on Moore?
With Schofield, Moore and Kiwi still on the roster, I would think it's an open competition. With the money they just gave Schofield, I would think he's the guy they think will win it.
and if someone is going to blow him away with money, he should take it for his family. He has two rings, accomplished much what he wants to do in football and it is not like we are real contenders this year, anyway.
I think Tuck got to look after his family first and foremost
But a younger Tuck was confident that Strahan wouldn't take an offer from a team like the Raiders back in 08 because it would somehow impact his Giants legacy when Strahan was unsure of retirement. What has changed about the Raiders?
I should add if he does take the money, he will still always be a true Giant. One of my favorite of all time. There are not enough good adjectives that I could use for him. Hardly complained (except Eli stealing his two MVPs), played at a high level when not injured, and battled through injury (even if coach had to coax him in 2011). Love him.
has 2 rings and the Giants didn't exactly look anywhere near close to contending last year. I think just about anyone in Tuck's spot would take the extra $$$ and years, especially considering that this is likely his last chance at a nice payday.
Regardless of who Tuck signs with, he's a Giant great for life IMO.
the guy for going out and getting wined and dined to experience free agency. Doesn't mean he won't come back here cheap. Either way, I'm okay with it...
if I'm Tuck, and my decision was between Oakland and the Gmen, this is how I see it:
Pros of going to Oakland/cons of staying in NY: quantify extra compensation, better weather, chance to cement image by leading a less than stellar team to better results on the field
Pros of staying in NY/saying no to Oakland: quantify extra sponorship, media/entertainment and chartiable opportunities in NY, no need to uproot family, better ownership of franchise/less sketchy of a reputation, chance to win another ring during the Eli-window (albeit with other changes needed and some luck), image of being a Giant for life/post-football opportunities in the organization.
Either way, he's a smart guy and he'll make the right choice....I loved him for life after his wrecking ball performance in sb 42 and the preceding playoff run, and my man crush only blossomed after 46.

Don't you have to go out and receive an offer in order for the Giants to match? Tom's comment makes no sense without further qualification.
I just hate the idea of Tuck playing in another uniform. He is a great Giant and a leader of this defense. He got every penny of his $30M contract from 2007 and he has lived in NYC/NJ market with many perks and opportunities. The SUBWAY gig alone has brought millions to his wallet.
I could only wish he would look at the big picture when making his decision. If not, good luck in Oakland where older players go to die.
After his rookie deal. His first was a little below market, but still good $$. He doesn't need an extra million. He needs a market price to negotiate with the Giants.
He's clearly not seeing the market his agent hoped for

I have no idea what the Raiders are doing. I feel sorry for their fans. The NFL is better when the Raiders are good.
mind boggling decision making in OAK if they give Tuck a lot of money. they have a long-term rebuilding project underway and they invest in a pass rusher who is clearly past his prime?
and like others have pointed out, they've done this before with players like richard seymour.

Jennings was on his way to NY to sign before McFadden signed/agreed to terms.
losing all the players they lost yesterday with 60 million in cap has to be a PR nightmare.

You can just see the pile of cash they will throw at Tuck and Woodley.
Hopefully Tuck has invested his money soundly over the years and decides to stay in NY.

D'Monster hopefully is ready.
As for Schofield in Moore's role. I'm hoping that Moore has/is filling out his frame this offseason and comes back as more of an end than tweener.
Regardless of who Tuck signs with, he's a Giant great for life IMO.
I was hopeful that we could get him and Beason back at cap friendly deals, but that might just be pie in the sky thinking at this point.
