when you mention Manningham / Pot in your initial response instead of mentioning Mario having one of the greatest catches in NY Giants history and helping the Gmen win a super bowl. I believe he also caught a TD in the NFC Championship game. If only Mario could be as perfect as some of you clowns.
but I don't know if I want to see the team relying on him as the #3 WR coming off of his injuries. Not to mention it would bump up Randle when I was hoping he would be more of the #3 guy. I guess they could still draft a guy in the first few rounds though.
But then I thought Ted Ginn would be better with his return ability. They now have Demps for that and MM would be a nice receiver to add if his knee checks out......for vet min of course.
white guy, not terribly athletic, punt returner, used come out of the tunnels waving the white towel, would go down to the end zone and stand by the pylon getting the fans all crazed up ... left the Giants for the Packers ... came back after a year.
him and Cruz at some points together on the field were very good.. he still is a capable receiver and if he's healthy.. he may realize he was better off here with our Giants.. and he could still find a place in the mix at wide receiver..
They'll all be learning a new offense but there is familiarity with Eli and it shouldn't take much time to get back in the groove. It's an advantage over bringing in a completely new guy. Cruz, Randle, and Manningham would be a solid, versatile trio. Really hope they can get something done.
I'm guessing there's still a little left in the bank, and there's moves to be made if we need to borrow some from next year if we find someone we can't live without. However, we're about in that phase where the sexy moves are minimum wage youngsters and min wage vets who might have a little something left. MM likely fits in that category.
and was far and away their best after the catch WR. he is a fine 3rd wideout. this team needs depth at the positions.
I said in my offseason plan that this season would hinge on current giants....beatty, randle, Jernigan, and JPP. they all need to step up, especially beatty, randle, and JPP in order for this team to be good.
this team was never going to sign a premium WR. too many holes and too little cap space. it's time for the in-house solutions to step up.
my WR plan was to bring in a vet for low money to push Jernigan and randle and draft a guy. that appears to be exactly what will happen.
sure, mm had some great catches (and has been pointed out earlier, one of the greatest in g history) but if his speed has been compromised, what's his advantage? he frequently ran wrong routes when he was here. was often not on the same page as eli and a lot of the time wasn't smart enough to make good reads off the line. reuben r stepped right into his shoes there. i don't have to remind you guys that next year will be a NEW system. the routes will be different, pacing will be different, hell ... the play names won't even be the same. so it won't really be like "coming home". i'm not sure mm can handle all this new stuff. he would have to come really cheap for me to get excited.
I loved what MM did for us here, but this is all a matter of respect to him for what he did here and a courtesy to him. He may very well get a training camp invite type of contract (much like Hillis), but he's not being penciled in as any kind of solution or even depth WR.
Manningham is pretty much finished as an NFL caliber WR. The injuries with SF have done him in, for a guy, who was never the most consistent to begin with.

Wow pretty rough. Guess you are a doctor and have all his medical history records!
bone to pick with you and think you take this and make this way too personal. Let's leave it at that.I've seen many of your posts this doesn't fit your norm. You having a bad day?
Assuming the knee checks out, if you say don't like this move
then it can't be Manningham that you have a problem with, it has to be Reese. Heres a guy who Eli is super comfortable throwing the ball to, who knows the system, can be plugged right into a WR corps that is depleted with Nick's departure, can go deep, made some of the biggest plays in their last SB run, and can probably be had on a one year/vet minimum deal. And if he somehow forgot how to play football, he can be cut in camp. Please, enlighten me, what could possibly be wrong with this?
I can only assume he was not yet fully healed and they wanted to see if he could contribute in the playoffs and when they realized he couldn't they shut him down
With the players we have signed and the players we are still looking at it appears our team doctors are on overtime. If the doctors think that Mario and others are ready to play at a high level, then why not? It appears the organization will trust their doctors here. It is surprising how many injured players we have been involved with.

Don't put words in my mouth. I have no issue with Reese and have defended him across numerous threads from the resident mouthbreathers. I think he's put together a solid B to B- offseason thus far.
My issue with this hinges on two major factors. First, he's coming off a serious knee injury and he wasnt all that explosive to begin with. His game was predicated on elusiveness and cutting ability. This isnt a guard or DT we're talking about.
Secondly, while he did make some big plays for us, he got by on pure athleticism. How many times did he let himself get run out of bounds and the play would get called back? How many times did we collectively curse him knowing that he ran the wrong route or make a bad read? And while he knew the offense, kind of, it's not the same offense we'll be running next season. That'll be three different offense in 4 years.
If the deal is anything more than a year at minimum, it just seems rather risky to me.
productive anymore. On the plus side the system is different so he won't be hanging Eli out to dry. We have RR for that now.
Yeah, like the way he "hung Eli out to dry" against San Francisco in the NFC Championship game and against New England in the Super Bowl. Jesus.
Are you new to our offense? Try watching the countless other times he fucked up. Its on tape its not like this shit is made up. He made two key plays and I am thankful for it. Doesn't mean I want him back .
He won a ring with us. I see him as a beloved backup Giant QB who had some bad stints with the Texans, Panthers, and Niners.
He is still relatively young, knows Eli and Coughlin and most of all has proven he can make big plays in big games at key moments.
McConkey I think?
And I'm not saying he milked the knee injury but I have a feeling he will be a lot healthier back in NY.

I would love to meet you. How long are visit hours at the local nut house?
I just have been through this so many years with ungrateful fucks on this board. The Giants are a 1st class organization with some major dipshit fans.

Not sure why Anish posted "he isn't productive anymore." He's barely played since leaving NY.
