depending on what the Giants do in the draft or if they decide to sign a veteran DT to a 1 year contract (like Patterson) he could end up being an important part of the d-line this year. He's had a couple of years to develop now since being drafted, recover from his injury, get stronger, etc. The last few pics/videos of him at practice last year, looked like he had beefed up quite a bit from his list 299 lb weight. My guess is he's in the 315 -320lb range now.
Anyone reading or hearing anything about him?
If the Giants have to go into this year with Kuhn as a guy who gets a lot of snaps, there is serious trouble DT
Roster fodder, nothing more.
Then he got hurt. His career was nothing like Marvin Austin's who never showed much of anything.
Probably a decent guy for the rotation. Doubt Rogers will be back, although Jenkins and maybe Patterson will be.
They aren't paying him what they paid Austin. And he did more for the Giants his rookie year than Marvin did his entire time here.
That said, he hasn't showed himself to be starter material thus far.
Oh, and he's still considered a raw player at age 28.
I got $5 bucks says Kuhn isn't even on the team by 2015...any takers?
15 games played, 9 combined tackles
Maybe he'll turn out to be a reasonably solid player. Maybe he won't. But to simply dismiss him at this point, when the coaches have obviously saw something in him, is just idiotic.
It's an important year for him.

I believe the coaching staff would disagree with your dollar general opinion.
Don't agree. Too quick to judge. Not saying he will amount to anything, but he did play reasonably well as a rookie, and the Giants activated him last season despite knowing he probably wouldn't play much. They obviously wanted to keep him for at least one more season. Add in that we let Patterson go, and apparently have no interest in resigning him, which is a mistake IMO.
Kuhn was a seventh round pick who came to football late. A classic Jerry "project" pick. But Ross said the Giants had a fourth round grade on him.
Again, he may not amount to anything, but he's shown enough to justify what the Giants did to keep him for another year. He could be a decent rotational end.
I don't think our scouting dept. got out of elementary school with these grades...
I thought he was a impressive as a rookie, most of the time he was taking on double teams. For a 7th rd project thats great. The FO has kept him over Rogers. I think he has a spot on this team, even if as a rotational player, I think he is very serviceable. I'd like to think he can build on what he started as a rookie despite being out of the game for awhile.
But he does show some potential to be a rotational-caliber NFL DT, and as a younger (relatively speaking) and less expensive DL draftee (the GIANTS don't like to give up on draftees), it is no surprise that they kept him around.
This should be the year that we find out if he is a player or a pretender.

The Danny Ware thing was weird though. Head scratcher.
Roster fodder, nothing more.
You might be thinking of Great White Homophobe.. I know he loves Kuhn.

1st round grade on Nassib.

Yet, notice that they weren't taken there. Nassib has played about 14 seconds of NFL football but people want to run him out already. And I agree with those that saw some flashes from Kuhn.
I don't want to run Nassib anywhere. I am just making light of the post-draft rhetoric from our Front Office repeated here on BBI. My guess is the Giants have about 50+ players graded for each round even though only 32 are taken in order for these to be true.
Will see what happens
He played as a rookie out of necessity due to injury. 2012 was the year the Giants DT situation was horrific, which prompted them to sign Jenkins, Patterson, and Rodgers in the '13 offseason.
Yes, he was supposed to play but didn't. The Giants had Canty, Joseph, Bernard, Austin, and Kuhn on the roster for 2012.
Bernard was mediocre for the parts of the year he wasn't hurt, Canty was hurt for parts of the year, and Joseph played through injuries and had a down year. This pushed them to put Kuhn and Austin on the field.
Develop? What? Film? You develop by playing....he is another prospect that is double teamed all the time?....5 tackles, 4 assists, in 15 games.....some of those tackles must have been awesome....
Another one of those picks that looks like a football player, more than he plays like one.....
As for why he is hanging around?.....the Giants are famous for that.....they have had players on the roster year after year, and then finally cut ties....he certainly looks like one......7th rounders have to make plays to justify them staying on the team.....sticking your hand up hoping the QB hits it, means he should rush only on third down....

" ... most of the time he was taking on double teams."
These guys who just see him getting pushed back keep forgetting to mention this, and see any value in it ... or if they aren't seeing it, that speaks for itself.
If you can't find a higher draft pick to be an early-hater of, and throw up red flags about, then you are going about your reputation-building as a scout/GM the wrong way. What you should be talking about is how you spotted Austin as a dud and are glad he finally got dumped (and have the threads to prove it).
Oh, and he's still considered a raw player at age 28.
Just made up bullshit. Noone blew him off the line. You must be talking about shaun rodgers. Kuhn was taking double teams most snaps. You need to get your eyes checked.
