What position are YOU hoping in first round

Eddie From Toronto : 3/29/2014 10:35 am
So me and my buddy Mr. Smoke and Cameron last night were debating for 4 hours what position the Giants should take in the first round. Between the the 3 of us we came up with FIVE different ideas last night. Everyone was going nuts about UCONN basketball but we were the only ones in the room going on and on about football. Can it be football season already? It's going to be April in 2 days and it just won't get here quick enough!

Anyway, I heard WR, OL, TE, and DL, and someone even said QB. I know the QB is the dumbest thing I've ever heard but why not throw that in there to make me sound correct by saying earlier there were 5 positions. When my droid went off this morning and the EYEBALL option was checked YES I figured after a fun night of debating that I should check out Big Blue Interactive and ask them what their opinions are. I'm sure this has been debated on who you want to choose throughout the course of this LONG boring March month, but if you had to CHOOSE...what position and why?

Ok, cool. But why not just say what position you prefer. Just have fun, live a little and answer the question. K?

I think OL is a must in the 1st round. I think a pass rushing DE is more of a need but there isn't one worth drafting in the top 20, never mind top 12. I think one of either Lewan or Martin will definitely be available at 12 and I don't think we can afford to pass that up. There is a slim chance Matthews could fall and if that happens there's no way in hell we could pass on him.

So I think OL is the way to go. Of course my preference is Matthews but it's too slim of a chance he's there so I'd prefer Martin for his versatility.

Why a must? We can get an awfully good pro ready one at 43

It's a must because our franchise QB has zero mobility and if we don't keep him upright, this brand spanking new offense that McAdoo is bringing in won't mean shit. What good is drafting a blue chip WR or TE when we can't keep our QB upright to be able to throw it to them? An OL you get at 43(Bitonio for example) are good players but they are a notch below guys like Martin, Lewan, and Matthews. Those 3 are day one starters. The same can't be said for Bitonio or any other OL you get in the 2nd through 4th.

The OL slated to go in the second are considered very high end prospects. Many are considered pro ready. We can wait until 43 to get an OL.
What position you prefer without context

doesn't achieve much in a discussion.

I'd prefer DE, CB, or WR ... DE appears unlikely, CBs and WRs will probably be gone.
Yeah, we get that

I understand why people said BPA, but eh. Some of the better answers came from people that did choose the positions and gave an explanation. The people that said BPA are barely a notch above not answering the question at all. If you think an OL would be more important than a WR or DT I think you can configure some reasons on why you belief so.

Sorry, just bored watching my buddy Cunningham play the "South Park: Stick of Truth" game and its been RAINING all day.

Please take Aaron Donald.
I'm hoping

for OT.
Offensive Line

We can't run, or have Eli throwing from being on his back otherwise. Of course, I defer to the experts. If someone better is clearly higher on the board, you take them. Then go offensive line in the 2nd round...
Pass rusher in round 1
ForzaNapoli NYG : 3/29/2014 10:33 pm : link
1st: Aaron Donald DT
2nd: Troy Niklas TE
3rd: JaWuan James OT
4th: Brandon Coleman WR
5th: Tyler Larsen C
5th: Aaron Lynch DE
6th: Storm Johnson RB

I go Donald first because i feel he is an outstanding and unique talent and it doesn't seem like we'll get an equally talented pass rusher in the later rounds whereas as many have noted OL WR and TE are pretty deep this year.

We get…. one of the best pass rushing D-line men in the draft, a monster TE that can block and catch, two young guys to groom and contribute on the O-line, a tall gifted WR, a physical specimen but gamble at DE, and a potential RB contributor

That may not be far off at all.

Depending on how some things play out but Im thinking OL in the second then WR-TE in the 3rd is a slightly higher percentage.

Lol !! Not that Cunningham. This guy is such a loser and apparently he's my best friend. Always whines about not being able to get along with his co-workers, but he is MR. Fix it.
