Running back...

KingBlue : 4/11/2014 11:28 am
As you know, we are thin at RB. The overall talent at premium positions (OL, WR, DB) is said to be unusually deep for the 2014 draft. Because of this the top RB's may slide even more than in the past. Would you consider Bishop Sankey or Carlos Hyde if available in the 3rd?

Among our many needs, I think getting weapons for our offense is a top priority.

1) Lewan or Zack Martin
2) Jordan Matthews or Devante Adams
3) Bishop Sankey or Carlos Hyde
4) CJ Fiedorowicz or Arthur Lynch

Remote thrower?
Remote thrower.

Mainly because of the nice depth at certain positions, mainly WR, OL, etc. Would much rather grab a RB late in Day 3, i.e. Terrance West, Towson, Isaiah Crowell, Alabama St., Storm Johnson, Central Florida.

Going to draft at the 12th pick for any position, that player will be the best player available, according to the Giants draft board, plain and simple. After that first pick, then the Giants will take positions into much more consideration. We all know the Giants need offensive linemen for the future, they also need running backs, they also need tight ends, they also need wide reciever's, they also need defensive ends, they also need safeties, they also need defensive tackles. They need all of them, and even cornerback is a position I would not count out. I remember a time when we probably had the best linebackers in football, and with our first pick we grabbed Carl Banks. It workedo ut great because he was a great player, it made no difference that we already had great linebackers on the team.

Remote throwers. That is only for show here from some idiots. If the player is a great player, no matter what position, it is NEVER a remore thrower.
Seeing Sankey in blue

would delight me. BUT i went to grad school at UW the same two years he broke out, so even though i think he will be a very good pro, my opinion is worthless.
Good post, PaulN

I am just intrigued by what McAdoo's offense may look like. And I am aware of all the needs that we have. If the RB's slide, I would be thrilled to add a premier prospect like Sankey.
I like WVU's Charles Sims

The BPA thing with the Giants is a myth. Almost every year they take a position of need in the 1st rd and claim it happened to be the BPA.

Third round seems a little early too me, given all the rest of the

holes this team still has and what the talent on the board seems likely to be, but I'd be shocked if they didn't take a RB at some point this draft.

They have Jennings and nothing of even tolerable quality right now, given the question marks on Wilson.
To, not too.

I swear I know the difference.

The Giants draft from among the players left in their highest "row" of available players. Prince was the best player in 2011. David Wilson was a need pick in 2012.
I would not be surprised if the Giants kept with the RB's

they already have, if they feel Wilson can return and develop. With the addition of Jennings, it's not as bad a group.

FWIW, The Huddle Report shows Hyde going sometime in the 2nd round, as do most other sites I've looked at. Sankey is s shown as a possible 3rd rounder, and his skill set might very well compliment the RB's the Giants already have. But it's very hard to predict where RB's will actually get taken, and if for some reason Hyde slid to the Giants 3rd, it might be a no-brainer.

And THR also shows Andre Williams from BC going sometime around the Giants 4th pick. And I like this guy, and would rather spend a 4th on RB, than a 3rd, if one is taken. My only concern is that his skill might be redundant with Jennings on the roster.
JR will be shot if he doesn't go OL in round 1
nicky43 : 4/11/2014 2:05 pm : link
He was ordered to fix the O. What's the worst thing about the O.....the OL.

So Martin or Lewan....That's his choices cuz I doubt Robinson or Mathews will fall to us.

He didn't pick BPA when he choose Wilson by a long shot. When you have a MAJOR glaring need, you must consider NEED more than BPA in the first round.

One more example of not picking BPA rounnd1
nicky43 : 4/11/2014 2:08 pm : link
Last year JR picked Pugh round 1 and he was not the BPA by any means.
There is only so much

that the Giant can fix this offseason. It really doesn’t matter who your RB is if the line can’t block for them. I think by signing Jennings, they can focus more on rebuilding the line in 2014 draft and some of the other more pressing needs (e.g., DT, TE, WR)
I am fascinated by mocks... running backs included.
buljos : 4/12/2014 9:52 pm : link
Here's my latest from fanspeak... and yes I know it's impossible. I don't know why the computer program presented me with these options, but it did, and I took em. It's not about me getting the "when pigs fly" feedback... it's about fans analyzing the possibilities... the logic behind the selections... so, here goes...

12 OT JAKE MATTHEWS TEXAS A&M
43 WR MIKE EVANS TEXAS A&M
74 TE C.J. FIEDOROWICZ IOWA
113 DT STEPHON TUITT NOTRE DAME
152 C BRYAN STORK FLORIDA STATE
174 WR PAUL RICHARDSON COLORADO
187 RB JEREMY HILL LSU

Never happen... Evans available at 43 is insane. Insane. So blame their stupid algorithm, not me. No way he makes it out of the top half of the 1st round. He'll be a great receiver in this league... and I got him at 43rd. But more importantly we got our linemen in Matthews and Stork, the best LT in the draft and the 2013 Remington Award winner as the nation's best Center. if PFF sees J.D. Walton as the Worst Center in the League like they did in 2011, then Stork is up. Got a big play big man WR, a very good blocking / pass pro TE who can get underneath and move the chains. Richardson's a damn good big receiver, and Hill's a good blocking / pass pro RB who's not a threat to break it on any play, but he's a steal at 187. There's my RB... per this thread... Hill with 187. And, there will be a good number of descent UFA RBs after the picking's done.

he added 2 starts via free agency and some depth guys so it's not a must take o line in 1st round.1st round picks are expected to contribute at some point in year 1 and like it or not if we took an OT in round 1 they wouldn't be expected to since like him or not beatty is the starting LOT at least for this year after the contract he got. I'm not saying we will or won't go OL in round 1 it will come down to best player available at a position of need. Need spots in no order: DT,DE,WR,TE, OC/OG,LB,OT. My opinion only is DT,WR and pass rusher are most likely positions that the pick is in 1st round
