Lester is barely touching 90mph
RasputinPrime : 4/11/2014 7:50 pm : link
didn't know he had taken a step down there as well. He isn't going to get big money from the Sox.
Baltimore chop
RasputinPrime : 4/11/2014 7:52 pm : link
hit for Jeter.
solid first four innings by CC
RasputinPrime : 4/11/2014 7:59 pm : link
really locating his pitches today.
CC has all his pitches working tonight
RasputinPrime : 4/11/2014 8:19 pm : link
I really think he needs to keep throwing that changeup.
Brian
MookGiants : 4/11/2014 8:25 pm : link
Roberts looks shot. Still early, but it's been a long time since he was a good player and it's very possible he is just finished.
Roberts may be about cooked (or just rusty, who knows?)
Dunedin81 : 4/11/2014 8:29 pm : link
but he's still better than anything else we have at the position.
Shitty pitch...
Dunedin81 : 4/11/2014 8:31 pm : link
nice recovery against the midget though.
Sonofabitch
Dunedin81 : 4/11/2014 8:37 pm : link
Someone cut a deal with the devil because that is the luckiest fucking stretch I've ever seen for one team.
CC getting clocked ugh
micky : 4/11/2014 8:37 pm : link
.
Sabathia
MookGiants : 4/11/2014 8:37 pm : link
quite simply is not very good. Scrubs like Grady Sizemore hitting 3 run homeruns off of him
4-1
RasputinPrime : 4/11/2014 8:37 pm : link
just no give for CC. Brutal.
Sabathia was almost unhittable for five innings...
Dunedin81 : 4/11/2014 8:38 pm : link
Joe just needs to have a quicker hook.
"CC looks like
MookGiants : 4/11/2014 8:38 pm : link
his old self"- JerseyJoe right before the season started
not going to pin it on Joe at all
MookGiants : 4/11/2014 8:39 pm : link
when was he supposed to hook him? He gave up a home run to Gomes, you dont get up a guy because of that. He then gave up a check swing single to ortiz and got behind Napoli.

It's all on Sabathia, no one else. If he needs to hook him before that, then CC can't be in the rotation
give me O'Neill and Leiter already
RasputinPrime : 4/11/2014 8:40 pm : link
jesus I can't stand listening to Cone and Flaherty. Cone is usually solid but he whines ten times as much when Flaherty is there. They just keep laying into CC.
CC now as a pitcher at this point in his career
micky : 4/11/2014 8:40 pm : link
has to either hit his spots or else just like what happened this inning. Ashame he's no longer what he used to be as a pitcher.
cc will be the 5 th pitcher very soon
LG in NYC : 4/11/2014 8:41 pm : link
Such a shame. How long is his contract?
time to warm up some bats
RasputinPrime : 4/11/2014 8:42 pm : link
time for Lester to shit himself.
Just get back some runs now
micky : 4/11/2014 8:43 pm : link
.
CC claims he's in great shape
Phil in LA : 4/11/2014 8:44 pm : link
but he turned into a pumpkin after just 80 pitches.
I do believe
MookGiants : 4/11/2014 8:48 pm : link
he's in very good shape. But the problem is he has very little on his fastball now. He's down 3-4 mph, his changeup therefore isn't nearly as effective as it used to be as there isnt enough separation and he can't get away with mistakes like he used to.

His stuff is average at this point. When he misses his spots, he gets hit.
RDP threw 5 2-hit innings...
Dunedin81 : 4/11/2014 8:55 pm : link
with 6 Ks and, more importantly, no walks. Great, great outing, hopefully the start of big things.
CC Contract
Jints in Carolina : 4/11/2014 8:57 pm : link
Signed thru 2016, 8 yrs/$182M (09-16) & 17 vesting option.

Free agent in 2017
CC needs to stop giving up hits
RasputinPrime : 4/11/2014 8:59 pm : link
to shitbags like Gomes. All he does is hit bad fastballs and somehow that is what CC wants to throw him.
2017 is pretty easy vesting for him.
Mad Mike : 4/11/2014 9:00 pm : link
Only a left shoulder injury that ends his season or forces him to miss significant time (or move to the pen) prevents that last year from vesting.
That was off the plate...
Dunedin81 : 4/11/2014 9:08 pm : link
Lester has been getting a pretty generous strike zone.
Is Lester going to crap himself
RasputinPrime : 4/11/2014 9:15 pm : link
and wipe it all over his face over that walk?

Jesus
solid solid AB by Roberts
RasputinPrime : 4/11/2014 9:19 pm : link
4-2

Big time RBI clutchness there.
He was getting strike calls off the plate...
Dunedin81 : 4/11/2014 9:20 pm : link
and ankle-high. He shouldn't bitch about not getting something borderline.
pardon me - Johnson
RasputinPrime : 4/11/2014 9:21 pm : link
so hard to get used to this level of roster turnover.
damn Cap
RasputinPrime : 4/11/2014 9:24 pm : link
that would have been huge.
i'd love to know how the brady anderson
RasputinPrime : 4/11/2014 9:43 pm : link
Ellsbury ever hit over 30 homers in a season.
Another
SoZKillA : 4/11/2014 9:46 pm : link
Year of solo homeruns and 1 run innings

Nothing new with this offense
Good grief, McCann.
Exit 172 : 4/11/2014 9:50 pm : link
What a shit job.
More
SoZKillA : 4/11/2014 9:54 pm : link
Like Brian McCann't
Betances
Homersimpson : 4/11/2014 10:01 pm : link
looks like the goods...
Filthy
Dunedin81 : 4/11/2014 10:01 pm : link
There is no fucking reason for Joe not to trust him. He may be the best reliever we have.
I think
MookGiants : 4/11/2014 10:03 pm : link
he wants to bring him in low pressure situations for the beginning few weeks to get his feet wet and then gradually bring him into more high pressure situations. I dont hate the plan, but I hope they start moving him up in the pecking order soon
the Betances Rules
RasputinPrime : 4/11/2014 10:05 pm : link
at least he seems to have finally harnessed his stuff. We are going to need him. I wonder how long before the talking heads yammer on about him possibly starting.

Any guess on why Uehara isn't in?
make frackin contact Gardner
RasputinPrime : 4/11/2014 10:09 pm : link
god he drives me nuts.
The Yanks
Homersimpson : 4/11/2014 10:27 pm : link
and Sox are 93-93 against each other over the last 186 games (since 2004). Crazy.
This offense is just not that great top to bottom...
Dunedin81 : 4/11/2014 10:39 pm : link
even with Teix but especially without him. Solarte seems like he's coming back to earth but even if we still have a little lightning in the bottle we've got a rusty or a depleted Brian Roberts at 2nd, an aging Jeter at SS and we're relying on Dean Anna, Solarte and Kelly Johnson to take regular reps at positions that are supposed to generate offense. McCann needs to start swinging the bat too.
I hope Yankees are seriously
CromartiesKid21 : 4/11/2014 11:05 pm : link
regretting not going hard after Jose Abreu. Their calling him the "Grande Dolor"...Spanish Big Hurt.
But we've got Teix...
Dunedin81 : 4/11/2014 11:07 pm : link
for three...more...fucking...years.
the Yankees
MookGiants : 4/11/2014 11:08 pm : link
have wasted quite a few opportunities over the years to sign international free agents.
they should have went after abreu
sinctybldh : 4/12/2014 2:12 am : link
and let him split dh and first with texeira. it is a damn shame they didn't get a player like that who is well in his prime. he would have been exactly what this offense needs.
Uehara had a stiff shoulder
WeatherMan : 4/12/2014 3:26 am : link
they gave him the night off. Good work by Mujica in his place, it's good to have a second option for the future if Koji works a few days in a row to be able to rest him when needed. In time the closer will be Tazawa, who had a great 4 out performance tonight against the heart of the NYY order.
McCann
Giants Stadium7609 : 4/12/2014 7:17 am : link
Has been a major flop so far and it bothers me because I did not want this guy.. I wanted Sanchez to be the everyday catcher by next year. What should of happen was back in 2013 offseason the Yankees should of brought Martin back on a 2 year deal. Instead we are stuck with Tex part 2 for 5 years and 85 million
It's been a week of McCann...
Dunedin81 : 4/12/2014 7:30 am : link
and Sanchez, while a very good prospect, had less than 100 ABs at AA when McCann was signed.

Holy shit, most teams would be glad to be "stuck" with McCann. It sure sucks having one of the best catchers in baseball.
