compared to last season

must be a shortage of HGH in Boston

I think it has to do with him not being able to eat as much now that he's actually paying child support. Deadbeat piece of shit.
Gotta get a few more
NYerInMA : 4/12/2014 3:27 pm : link
To re-establish the cushion.
dumb play by the Sox
RasputinPrime : 4/12/2014 3:27 pm : link
thank goodness.
i would rather
sinctybldh : 4/12/2014 3:28 pm : link
they stick with betances then put Nuno in. I still have that disaster in Baltimore fresh in my mind.
Kate Smith still?
Kulish29 : 4/12/2014 3:28 pm : link
Ugh.
HGH
Phil in LA : 4/12/2014 3:32 pm : link
leans you out. Some but not all roids bulk you up.
not sure why u have to bunt
sinctybldh : 4/12/2014 3:33 pm : link
with a very fast player at first. I am not a fan of that at all.
ouch
sinctybldh : 4/12/2014 3:37 pm : link
tyler austin is 0 for 3 with 3 k's today.
Remember when Andrew Miller was hyped up as
Kulish29 : 4/12/2014 3:38 pm : link
'The Next Randy Johnson'
Gardy and Ellsbury
RasputinPrime : 4/12/2014 3:41 pm : link
double freakin steal already.
Oh Carlos
NYerInMA : 4/12/2014 3:43 pm : link
That was not a good swing.
Girardi
MookGiants : 4/12/2014 3:44 pm : link
deserved that outcome bunting. He'll never learn
eh that pitch to beltran
sinctybldh : 4/12/2014 3:45 pm : link
was tough because he was looking fastball but got thrown a change up.
Weird that they get Gardy and Ellsbury on and don't
Phil in LA : 4/12/2014 3:46 pm : link
double steal.
apparently Gardy can't steal bases anymore
RasputinPrime : 4/12/2014 3:47 pm : link
but he sure can slide to first base!

I really really don't get him.
Lester News
sinctybldh : 4/12/2014 3:47 pm : link
According to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports, Jon Lester turned down a four-year, $70-$80 million extension offer.
The offer, which is well below Lester's expected market value, could cost the Red Sox a chance at re-signing their ace left-hander. Rosenthal reports that Lester has cut off negotiations until the offseason, and appears as if he'll test the waters of free agency.
That's almost a slap in the face...
Dunedin81 : 4/12/2014 3:49 pm : link
considering what the going rate has been for starters. Lester hasn't always looked like an ace over the last couple years but he was good in the postseason and has a #1-#2 pedigree. Hometown discount is one thing, a slap in the face is another.
So much for him thinking like the hive collective
Kulish29 : 4/12/2014 3:50 pm : link
and taking a lower dollar deal because he wants to stay a blue collar, small market Red Sock.
Lester is a good pitcher
MookGiants : 4/12/2014 3:51 pm : link
but he'll be 31 on opening day next year and he's been a very good but never great pitcher imo. I think the team that signs him long term will regret it
Warren is a stud out of the BP
Kulish29 : 4/12/2014 3:53 pm : link
I'd like to see him get a chance to close out a game or two with Robertson on the DL.
GREAT inning by Warren.
Shockeyisthebest80 : 4/12/2014 3:53 pm : link
...
i think boston's offer to him is smart
sinctybldh : 4/12/2014 3:54 pm : link
you never want to go longer then 4 years on a pitcher once they are past 30 years of age. it would be a mistake like the mistake we made with CC Sabathia. I hate to admit it, but the Red Sox are a lot smarter then the Yankees when it comes time to let a player go when he is going to be on the downside of his career.
yes
sinctybldh : 4/12/2014 3:57 pm : link
kelly johnson!
Meh
Dunedin81 : 4/12/2014 3:58 pm : link
They'd have dead years, but the idea that someone like Lester can be had easily in free agency or in the trade market for a price they'd be willing to pay is assuming a lot. Crappier pitchers have gotten more money for more years.
I really like Dean Anna
sinctybldh : 4/12/2014 4:02 pm : link
good fielder and seems he can hit too.
didn't say lester can be easily had
sinctybldh : 4/12/2014 4:03 pm : link
just that I think 4 years is good for the team. It is why it is so important to develop your own players.

Next year Lester is 32. He could very well decline fast for all we know like CC has.
how
MookGiants : 4/12/2014 4:04 pm : link
in the world did they call him safe?
Bill Leavy is in the review room.
Shockeyisthebest80 : 4/12/2014 4:04 pm : link
...
nothing annoys me more than
MookGiants : 4/12/2014 4:06 pm : link
getting it wrong even with replay. That wasn't even debatable and they somehow got it wrong, I know it helped the Yankees but this shit happens all too often, when you have replay it should be right 99.9% of the time and in reality they dont even come close to that in football and now baseball
wonder how long
sinctybldh : 4/12/2014 4:09 pm : link
they are going to struggle with roberts at second base? he doesn't seem like he can hit much at all anymore. I suppose his penchant to walk is what is saving him for now.
Lester is in his 7th full year though...
Dunedin81 : 4/12/2014 4:14 pm : link
And has generally been healthy for all of those years. I see the point, but unless you're the Cardinals staying consistently competitive requires you to pay for some dead years.
i don't think the red sox will
sinctybldh : 4/12/2014 4:16 pm : link
i don't recall the last time they have done something like that.
Excellent job by the last 3 guys out of the pen.

Nice win...
Dunedin81 : 4/12/2014 4:24 pm : link
too many damned HRs though.
I hope
sinctybldh : 4/12/2014 4:29 pm : link
Kuroda can pitch like this all year long.
Another irrelevance for Sox fans to bitch about...
Dunedin81 : 4/12/2014 4:44 pm : link
that did not have any bearing on the outcome of the game.

Lester is probably going back home to the Pacific Northwest the way the Mariners have thrown around money of late
sincy
idinkido : 4/13/2014 1:42 am : link
Don't write Roberts off. When healthy, he is a gamer. Be patient, he will come around.
i'm glad they might actually have to pay
RasputinPrime : 4/13/2014 2:02 am : link
market value for Lester. I'm tired of them getting "hometown" discounts.
McCann
LS : 4/13/2014 8:25 am : link
needs to stop trying to pull the ball. LOL.
ManBan threw another 3 IP today...
Dunedin81 : 4/13/2014 2:12 pm : link
perfect, with 6 Ks. Maybe time for a promotion.
They might wait till it gets warmer
Phil in LA : 4/13/2014 2:13 pm : link
up North.
That's right...
Dunedin81 : 4/13/2014 2:33 pm : link
nobody really wants to go to Scranton anyway...oh hey Mook!

Mason Williams with his first jack of the season.
Ha
MookGiants : 4/13/2014 2:38 pm : link
Thankfully I don't live in Scranton! Clarks summit represent bitches.

I plan on going at least a few games this year. But if I take my nephew the chances of being able to watch 1/10 of the game are minimal because he never stops moving
I hear you...
Dunedin81 : 4/13/2014 2:41 pm : link
I love watching ballgames with my kids but any sort of critical eye goes out the window. Charleston isn't coming to Greensboro this year, so if I do see anything it probably won't be solo.
Guess we know why Denney fell to the third round...
Dunedin81 : 4/13/2014 4:28 pm : link
license was restricted for a DUI and he seems like he might have been intoxicated again. Plus they caught him twice in one night. Sounds like a winner.

Nicholas Flammia ‏@TYRadioGuy 16m

LHP Manny Banuelos put on a clinic, retiring all 9 batters faced. 6 Ks in 3 innings for the @TampaYankees. The curveball was on point!
