Lagares has definitely been the best player on the team so far.

its too bad
spike : 4/12/2014 11:37 pm : link
the Mets' 7-8-9 hitters are such blackholes offensively.

Hopefully Recker delivers again.
Trout is one fast MFer
oipolloi : 4/12/2014 11:39 pm : link
that was a routine 6-4-3 DP and he almost beat it out, he got down the line so fast
This Angels pen is atrocious
oipolloi : 4/12/2014 11:41 pm : link
Nobody throws strikes

Mets have to score here
Hahah.. awesome.

game to forget for Murph

Crap

...
you absolutely knew that was coming
PhiPsi125 : 4/13/2014 12:06 am : link
Wouldn't be the mets if that didnt happen.

Can't find the strikezone with aybar but throws a meatball to the guy that can easily jack one out.
You just knew
Stufftherun : 4/13/2014 12:06 am : link
It was coming. Ibanez was 0 for 3, ripped the ball his last time up but right at Ike, his next hit would be his 2000th and of course he was the tying run.

God help us!
yup
oipolloi : 4/13/2014 12:07 am : link
after the walk to Aybar, you just knew Ibanez was going to get one.

there will be LOTS of no-decisions this year
PhiPsi125 : 4/13/2014 12:08 am : link
Familiar, right Sandy?
And that's why they're the Mets.
Phil in Joisey : 4/13/2014 12:08 am : link
Why do we torture ourselves like this?
another strike out for Granderson
PhiPsi125 : 4/13/2014 12:11 am : link
He'll be another wonderful contract.
I think Sandy has done a fine job straightening the Mets out
oipolloi : 4/13/2014 12:11 am : link
But I hope he leaves after this year.

Sandy is basically a guy who is great at running things. But he has no eye for baseball talent.

I'm sorry ...
Stufftherun : 4/13/2014 12:12 am : link
I just won't be able to embrace Grandy knowing his approach at the plate has so many holes and there are simply too many unproductive at bats that lie ahead.
Sandy has not done a fine job
PhiPsi125 : 4/13/2014 12:14 am : link
that's just laughable.
When Mets signed Grandy, my first thought was "Jay Bay" the sequel
oipolloi : 4/13/2014 12:15 am : link
Hope I'm wrong but I just don't see giving a contract like that to a high K guy on the wrong side of 30.

6-3 lead
Rob in Rockaway : 4/13/2014 12:16 am : link
2 outs, bottom of the 9th. 2 strikes on the fucking batter.

Papa Fucking Grande...

I really, really need to find something else to do with my time.

Phi; I don't think you read the whole post. Maybe just the title?
Parnell's injury
sshin05 : 4/13/2014 12:20 am : link
Was just bad luck. They tried to sign guys in the off season but it didn't work out. Valverde will probably be better than not hopefully
they tried to rush Parnell back
oipolloi : 4/13/2014 12:25 am : link
Nobody knows what, if any, role that played in his injury. But I don't think we can say with certainty that it was just "bad luck." As the saying goes, luck is the residue of design.

Plus, even if Parnell did not blow out the elbow, you can't really count on a guy coming off neck surgery and have no adequate backup plan.

I read the whole post. How can you say that he has no eye for baseball talent and then also say he has done a fine job of straightening them out? Truth is, Sandy has done a pretty bad job here with the Mets.
Slapshot
Stufftherun : 4/13/2014 12:37 am : link
is on IFC should anyone need a laugh.
It's the first blown save
sshin05 : 4/13/2014 12:39 am : link
By valverde and the sky is falling. Plenty of baseball left gotta see how this all pans out.
does Lannan close it out
Mike in NY : 4/13/2014 1:24 am : link
Or do you use Farnsworth knowing that if he blows it you have just Familia or a starter?
you keep Lannan in to force Scioscia to put up a righty PH
oipolloi : 4/13/2014 1:29 am : link
then you bring in Farnsworth
horrible game by Murphy
oipolloi : 4/13/2014 1:30 am : link

Can lannan
sshin05 : 4/13/2014 1:34 am : link
Pitch two scoreless innings?
Wow
sshin05 : 4/13/2014 1:37 am : link
Costly win as the mets had to use most of their bullpen. Hopefully colon ca pitch deep tomorrow.
Thank God!
Stufftherun : 4/13/2014 1:37 am : link
.
Lannan did it!!!!
oipolloi : 4/13/2014 1:39 am : link
good for him

risky letting him face Trout. But he hit it right to Ike.
Angels used even more of their pen
oipolloi : 4/13/2014 1:40 am : link
their pen threw 150 pitches

Angels I think used everyone. Mets didn't use Farnsworth or Familia
144 pitches for Angels pen
oipolloi : 4/13/2014 1:42 am : link
88 for Mets pen

Familia and Farnsworth were not used.

BIG WIN!!!

Familia did throw like 50 pitches but farnsworth should be good to go

Typing on iPhone.
Familia threw 50 pitches not sure if he's still available
go for the series win
spike : 4/13/2014 1:49 am : link
tomorrow!
it would be great to take the series
oipolloi : 4/13/2014 2:28 am : link
kinda feel like they gave away game one, so it would be sweet to win 2 out of 3 anyway
Winning this game puts some juice into tomorrow
Ralph.C : 4/13/2014 2:47 am : link
If Colon puts in a good start and we win and get to 6-6 it would be a "feel-good" moment in a season where those moments may be few.
So who should be our closer going forward for this season?
Ira : 4/13/2014 3:51 am : link
Do we stick with Valverde? Maybe Farnsworth?
Looking at the box
sphinx : 4/13/2014 8:46 am : link
The 6-7-8-9 guys were 9 for 22.

They had all 7 RBIs.

They scored 5 of the 7 runs.

* * * *

The 1-5 guys were 2 for 25.

They had 0 RBIs

They scored 2 runs.

I've been
Metnut : 4/13/2014 9:09 am : link
dragged to bars that didn't have TV and havn't seen any of these @Angels games. Looks like our bench chipped in yesterday.

It's nice to see Niese pick right up where he left off last year. Really hoping that this kid can stay healthy. He's had all clean MRIs this spring, so I'm optimistic. Would love to see the fat man get us back to .500 today.

stick with Valverde for now..
I admittedly turned the game off after the blown save..
arcarsenal : 4/13/2014 11:18 am : link
I didn't feel like staying up to watch another shitty loss. Was pretty surprised to see that they pulled it out anyway.

Recker really seems to have a knack for coming through in big spots. No denying his power, either. He might actually be a decent backup after all.

Would be awesome to take a 3rd road series in a row today but it will be difficult against Wilson. He was great his last start after a bad first one. Hopefully the big guy can come through for us on his old stomping grounds.
We need Colon to go a minimum of 7
Headhunter : 4/13/2014 11:35 am : link
and hopefully 8, the bullpen can use a rest
