I am starting this thread early to get the ball rolling, but the clock will NOT officially start until
Thursday, April 17th at 9am. The draft will run from 9am to 6pm Monday through Friday until the start of the NFL Draft (Thursday, May 8th) or the completion of the 5th round. Please remember to use the DISCUSSION thread so we can keep this thread uncluttered.
Once a team is on the clock, they will have two hours to make a selection. If a team goes on the clock after 4pm, their two hour window will roll over to the next day. For example, if you go on the clock at 4:30pm, you will have until 9:30 am to make a selection. Picks may be made between 6pm and 9am if GMs are online and following the draft thread. The time limit only applies during the 9am to 6pm time frame. If the two hour time limit expires, I will make a pick using any list that the GM for the team has sent me in advance (send lists to the email address in my profile) or in the absence of a list, I will use the
GBN Big Board with a little discretion so as not make an obvious dumb pick (ie: Indianapolis Colts won’t be taking a QB in the 1st round this year). If a GM misses two consecutive picks without providing a prospect list or making some form of contact with me (email or posting on the draft thread) Saos1n and Yatqb will have priority to fill the vacancy. Otherwise, the spot will be reassigned to one of the BBIers that didn't get into the draft but were active in the draft discussion thread.
I have saved the GBN Big Board as of 4/2 in a
Google Document. Once again, we will have a
Google Spreadsheet. The spreadsheet contains the draft order (RD1-5) by team (and GM) and a list of both available and taken prospects based on the GBN Big Board (as well as several other prospects that did not make the GBN Big Board). I will try to keep the spreadsheet and thread updated as often as possible.

The Browns like this kid just as much as any of the "Top 3" QBs in this class and believe he has the most arm talent of the 4. With Kyle Shanahan now running the offense with his trademark zone scheme, adding another powerful, athletic lineman was paramount to jumpstart Cleveland's woeful ground game. Now they are able to grab their QB in Derek Carr.
Carr possesses the ability to make all the throws and has underrated athleticism. He's a fiery leader and had fantastic production in college. While he played predominantly in the shotgun in a spread offense, he showed excellent smooth drops during his pro day. He also won't be forced to start day one unless Hoyer is not healthy. Cleveland sees him as the QB with the highest floor in this draft.
Boylhart: "Derek does an excellent job adjusting to what he sees on the field compared to what he sees in pre-game film sessions. He shows good accuracy on most passes and has excellent velocity on his ball to be considered by those cold weather teams when the winds become troublesome for the passing game. He has solid athleticism and does a good job throwing on the run for planned roll-outs" - Perfect for Shanahan's west coast offense.
Dee Ford DE/OLB Auburn
Morgan Moses, OT, Virginia
***DT Rashede Hageman***
6'6 310# out of the University of Minnesota
Highly versatile and powerful DL offers Belichick a ton of flexibility in how to use him in his multiple defensive sets.
WR Kelvin Benjamin 6'5' 240lbs
Florida State’s Kelvin Benjamin is the largest most physical wide receiver in this draft, and is an outstanding jump ball and possession receiver. His tape proved his dominance against basically every corner when it came to contested catches, and even though he may not blow the top off a defense, he can certainly create mismatches on a defense.
Benjamin would be a nice compliment to Anquan Boldin on the outside, which could possibly leave the door open for Michael Crabtree to slide to the slot position. If not, the Florida State product would be extremely effective in the red zone, an area where San Francisco has notoriously struggled in the past.

Em, wit the, eh, fiddy forth pick in da 2014 NFL Draft, da Fildelfya Iggles pick, em:
Demarcus Lawrence, DE/OLB, Boise State
Martavis Bryant, WR, Clemson
I started watching this kid early on this college football season when I tried to get my first good look at projected top 10 pick, Sammy Watkins… When the announcers indicated Watkins was not the player I was watching, I distinctly remember saying to myself, "Well, who the hell is THAT?!" He is raw and needs to work on his routes, but his upside is enormous... At 6'4 211 lbs he clocked 4.42 with a 39" vert and 10'2 broad... Size, speed and athleticism are similar to Justin Hunter, but I see a guy with superior body control and is better at catching the ball in traffic... He also doesn't look maxed out and could possibly add some weight without losing speed...
Huge wingspan and does a great job tracking the ball, high pointing and making the catch despite tight coverage... Bryant is a big time vertical threat averaging 20ypc last year and should be a legit redzone target at the next level... He will take time to develop his route tree, but learning behind and along side AJ Green should help him to get there... He is worth the risk, IMO...
DE Kareem Martin 6'6" 272lbs

***C Marcus Martin***
6'3 318# out of USC
Versatile and powerful OL has 30 consecutive starts(10@C/20@G). Ryan Wendell was a liability at C and is best suited as a backup. Maknins and Connolly have 29 years between them(10/9) @OG. The interior OL needs both a youth and a talent infusion. Martin gets the nod.

72. Minnesota (Jay in Saratoga)
Jay missed his last pick so maybe someone can send out the bat signal early
Still, we'll wait the 2 hours. Jay doesn't have a history of missing picks (prior to this year). But if it comes to it, Mettenberger will be the autodraft pick (still lots of time though).
I think its time that Jay provide Matt his email address (if he hasn't already).
Two of the next 3 teams sent boards and we are through more than 2 rounds with a little under 3 weeks prior to the draft and the threads were only started about a week ago. Even though it usually slows down at this point even waiting 2 hours for Jay to show we are still likely to be finished by the end of next week
2 picks coming as Kevin provided a board...
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers select Zach Mettenberger, QB, LSU
Hugely talented back who has had a few off the field issues but coaches think he's a good kid. Big, strong back with good hands, very quick for his size and great for Shanahan's zone scheme as a 1-cut and go type rb. We had him ahead of Hyde on our board.
Carl Bradford had 39.5 TFL and 20 Sacks in his Sophomore & Junior seasons before deciding to declare for the draft early. He lacks size & has a small frame, but he has speed, strength and makes up for his shortcomings with his high football IQ. He was used as a hybrid DE/OLB in college, but we want him to hone his OLB skills.
While Bradford will be used as a situational pass rusher, he will also need to be able to play a more traditional OLB as well in order to be truly effective. He wasn’t lost in coverage, but he wasn’t asked to drop back into coverage very often and this will change at the next level. Luckily, we have a year to further develop his skills, using him situationally behind Rivers & Spikes on his 1 year “Prove It” deal.
He is football smart, talented and beelines to the ball. He sniffs out screens and is simply an all around playmaker. Great instincts, athleticism and great tackling ability. We are thrilled that Bradford is still available.
Bruce Ellington/WR/South Carolina
I will let Pete post the image, but he is probably not happy that Richardson went one pick before him

If we are skipping Lionhart, can I go ahead with my selection? Hehe.
This dude is everything I want in a QB except tall. He started over 50 games in the SEC. He is very smart, a good leader, accurate passer from a pro-style offense but he is 6'0 tall. However, he excellent arm strength and can make all of the NFL throws. The Browns had nothing in the QB cupboard prior to the draft so taking 2 QBs is not that crazy. Supposedly Murray is really picking up steam lately and looked good at his pro-day even while recovering from an ACL tear. Absolutely love this kid and he think he will definitely be an NFL starter.

Jaylen Watkins CB 6' 194lbs 4.41 40 Florida
Jaylen Watkins CB 6' 194lbs 4.41 40 Florida
Watkins possesses a lean, athletic build more suited to cornerback. He's a willing hitter, however, with good vision and closing ability, making it likely that he'll be able to successfully handle the transition to safety. The willingness to change positions during his senior season is a good indication of Watkins' selflessness and maturity

6'2" 200 lbs ran 4.45 and actually plays that fast. For a taller DB has fluid hips. He's a bit raw but has all the tools to be very successful in the league. He also has experience at FS but we see him as a corner and like him every bit as much as anyone taken since Verrett.
De'Anthony Thomas, RB/WR/KR/BlackMamba, Oregon
CB Loucheiz Purifoy, Florida
Aaron Lynch, DE, South Florida
We view this as a high risk, high reward pick. We feel the value is right to make this selection in the 4th round. Lynch has all of the tools to be a dominant defensive end: size, speed and a massive wingspan. However, he has underachieved for most of his career. He did start really coming on at the end of last season, but he needs to really dedicate himself to improvinging his game. Right now he is all talent. That won't be enough at the next level. Dedication to the craft, focus and concentration will be the key to his success. High ceiling, low floor.

The Titans primary needs at this point were CB and RB. We looked at a group of corners with some interest, but none stood out like Sims did at running back. Sims has power, speed, good hands, and is reliable. What excited us most about him though was his balance. See...

Dezmen Southward, FS, Wisconsin
Dez is a very smart kid who didn't start playing football until his Senior year of High School. He was a 2 time honorable mention All Big-10 selection who has a ton of upside. He has to hone his technique, but the instincts are there. Despite a multitude of Wisconsin players projected to be drafted before him, he was the stand out at the Wisconsin pro day.
Below is an article about his pro day. There are some conflicting reports on his health, but we are hopeful he is healthy, can play ST right away and become a defensive contributor before the year is over.

It’s of course overly optimistic to think the Titans can make up for the loss of Verner with a 5th round pick. We stayed true to our board and will have to look from within to solve our corner problem
We can however, add a guy for the future with great potential to be an impact player at the position. Shows ability as both a good run supporter and an excellent man cover guy with above average height/arm length.
Aikens was recruited by major schools and attended the University of Illinois before getting booted off the team for involvement in a theft. No problems since, and after some pro coaching and adjustment to the bigger faster game, could be very valuable.
New York Giants (Andy in Halifax) is on the clock
I actually really noticed him when I was checking out Martin. Both seemed to dominate and I thought Watt looked like a starting LG at the NFL level.

Don't quite understand him being labelled as "strictly a run stuffer"... Ellis has amazing quickness for a man his size (6'2 350lbs)... He uses his quickness and anticipation to disrupt the pocket... He also has a non-stop motor... Constantly see him chasing down ball carriers 20-30 yards down the field... Long arms, violent hands and plays with leverage that you don't see very often from men his size... Shows flashes of Vince Wilfork, IMO...

Career Stats - 13 Int, 4 for Td's
Highly competitive corner lacking ideal size and speed. Plays far better than his measurable, with strong instincts, great leaping ability, and will savagely fight for the ball when it's up for grabs.
Could end up a very nice slot corner...teams will think he can be taken advantage of and go after him, but in college he proved them wrong.

Tough to ignore this type of athlete late in the draft... 6'3" 220 lbs, 4.39 (pro day), 10'5" broad, 38" vert... Long, rangy athlete with excellent straight line speed... Admittedly when you watch his tape, he doesn't always play like a sub 4.4 guy... Unlike a truly instinctive player like a Tyrann Mathieau, Ballentine takes a bit longer to read and react... Not great in traffic but a solid striker over the middle and in run support... Just turned 21yo with plenty of upside...

"Meat and potatoes", "Brings his lunch pail to work", whatever other overused expressions you want to describe this guy... He's got most of the ones you look for in an OL prospect at this point in the draft... "Competitive", "tough", "nasty", "experienced" (42 starts), "durable" (37 consecutive) and probably most important "versatile"...
Terrific size (6-6, 315), long arms (34.5"), big hands (10.5")... Looks lean enough to add some more weight/strength... Did a nice job when matched up against Aaron Donald, who made more than a few OL look foolish...
