NFT: Knicks officially eliminated

dpinzow : 4/12/2014 9:59 pm
Atlanta somehow beat the Heat tonight, 98-85, clinching the 8th and final playoff spot. Unfortunately, the Knicks have nobody to blame but themselves for the horrible season. Let the housecleaning begin, I guess?
Bye bye

Woodson. Jackson will want his own guy.
In no scenario
BigBlueShock : 4/12/2014 10:13 pm : link
did I envision this team not making the playoffs before the season began. And that was more an indictment of the patheticness that is the Eastern Conference, than that of the Knicks being a good basketball team.

Embarrassing.
Good. Tired of hearing about it. Now fix it and try

Again next year.
Worst coaching
MookGiants : 4/12/2014 10:54 pm : link
job ever by Woodson. He should be fired the day after the season ends.

The players would have been better off just running the team themselves, certainly couldn't be any worse
He should have been fired months ago
Larry in Pencilvania : 4/12/2014 11:21 pm : link
and half the team should have been benched or gotten rid of. None of those bums should be coaching themselves
What a humiliating year.

Glad this team is finally put out of its misery. Absolutely disgraceful to not even make the playoffs at all in this joke of a conference.

Knicks fans now have a new figure head to lay the blame on. If things don't get turned around, this won't be on Dolan anymore. That's one of the biggest reasons why he got Phil, so he could get out of making the basketball decisions for the team.

Felton, Melo, JR, Woody, thanks for NOTHING!
Its a trite

and hackneyed phrase now but this truly was an epic fail.

Not making the playoffs in the Eastern Conference in the 2013-2014 season with a top 10 player in Melo is beyond words.
It's
Metnut : 4/13/2014 9:10 am : link
probably better off that they didn't make it. The last thing a Knicks' fan wants is for the team to somehow push Indy to 6-7 games in the first round and then bring Woodson back.

"One Shining Moment" NY Knicks - ( New Window )
I can't stand this team.
mattnyg05 : 4/13/2014 9:52 am : link
Absolute dog shit effort this year to not make the playoffs in this conference. It says a lot about the coach AND the players when teams with half the talent routinely play harder and smarter. I'd blow this thing up.
Even last year I thought this team..
Sean in PA : 4/13/2014 9:56 am : link
was very difficult to embrace and root for. I hope Phil does clean house.
Hopefully

Now we can go through an actual rebuilding phase instead of acquiring mediocre talent that doesn't really get us anywhere.
one of the worst NY coaching jobs since Ray Handley

This was a clearly more talented team than last year.
The fact that
BigBlueShock : 4/13/2014 12:46 pm : link
Dolan absolutely refused to fire Woodson earlier in the season was mind boggling. There was still time to get the ship back on track, but for that to happen, they needed to get Woody the hell away from the team. It was obvious to anyone paying attention that the players had shut Woodson out. And I could care less if the perception was that there were no alternatives. Anybody would have had a better shot of getting through to this bunch. They needed a new voice. They were the worst team in the NBA for a time, and that still wasn't enough to can the coach? Dolan essentially threw this season away with that decision.
This should be a really interesting

offseason.
All the Knicks needed to do...
manh george : 4/13/2014 1:28 pm : link
to end up with more wins than Atlanta was to win their fair share of games that were close going into the last minute or so. Their inability to do so is all on Wooden. The Washington game was a perfect example, where Wooden allowed a clearly injured Melo to pound the ball before taking a contested iso shot.

Plus, when everyone in the arena knows that the Knicks only endgame play is a Melo iso, they will always send an extra man at him, leaving someone else open. Does Melo forget how to pass to an open teammate at the very end of games? No, Woodson forgets for him.

THiS. We probably are 4-5 th seed right now if a change was made early enough. Dolan basically threw this season out the window holding on to Woodson.
