Who is cleanest the player at 12?

George from PA : 4/13/2014 5:56 am
by cleanest, I mean without concerns or issues.
I hear Jake Matthews is cleanest player in draft but he won't make to 12. not looking for highest ceiling but safest.

BBI has gotten me on the Aaron Donald bandwagon but he is very light for a DT and carries risk.

Eric Ebron can not block which I think eliminates him from my viewpoint...our biggest issue was giving Eli more time.

Mike Evans now will not even make it to 12 but even if he did....I can see his game neutralized by NFL defenders.

Barr scares the hell out of me...way to risky. I see major bust potential.

Even Taylor Lewan, besides his off the field issue might have slower feet? usually OL are relatively safe draft picks

I hear Zack Martin is a Pugh clone but like Pugh seems to be better suited inside....could he be the safest pick?

All the names I keep hearing seem to have issues...
Squeaky clean player (will be long gone)

cleanest? You mean
Allen in NJ : 4/13/2014 6:38 am : link
safest pick without notable risk I guess?

There's no truly bonafide pick that is a sure bet. There's risk in every pick that can be made an at #12 there's more risk than if you were in the top 10.

IMO Donald is a solid pick there, I'm not as in love with him as others on here - but he has shown he can be extremely disruptive on the inside. He has an amazing first step out of the 3 technique, and it looks like he has excellent technique, both in space and in tight quarters.

Ebron? No thanks.

Mike Evans will be gone, and Lewan has serious character issues. As someone above posted, Jake Matthews is probably the only other possibility here if he drops.
Zack Martin

Pugh played well on the outside. Why is he better suited inside??????? He might be our best offensive lineman and our best option at LT
I agree on Martin.
Ira : 4/13/2014 6:43 am : link
He won't dominate the way Robinson will in run blocking, but he'll do pretty well there and keep his qb squeaky clean.
Robinson is far from clean
Optimus-NY : 4/13/2014 7:09 am : link
Matthews (clean) is to Robinson (not clean) as Martin (clean) is to Lewan (clean).
Martin wil be the cleanest player available at 12, and should be the

pick that the Giants make at that spot. He makes too much sense not to take. He'd give the Giants TWO players who offer positional versatility on the OL. That's invaluable.

but I'd rather trade down. Wanting and doing however are two different things.

Martin.

We need depth, youth, and versatility on the O-line, not a superstar.
Pugh
Giants : 4/13/2014 9:14 am : link
has never played inside. Not in college or in the NFL. So why would anyone want to move him inside ? Pugh was the best OL on team last year and he played RT
Not saying Martin
CT Charlie : 4/13/2014 9:26 am : link
will be our choice, but having started 52 games at ND, and being a two-time captain, he's easily the cleanest.
Pugh dropped in the draft because the experts felt he was better

Suited to play inside due to his short arms.....which I guess is why Martin is further down

But you stated, unequivocally, that Pugh is better suited to the inside. You didn't qualify that statement with "that's what the experts said."

Pugh has the AA to play tackle and has proved it on the field in the NFL; Martin hasn't shown the same capability. Yes, he's versatile and will likely be an asset on any given O-Line, but not at Tackle, and never with the 12th pick.
If by cleanest,
k-five : 4/13/2014 9:39 am : link
you mean safest, I would say Zack Martin and CJ Mosley. Even though they are safe, each one still have really good upside.

but he's not really like Pugh, he's much more physical and nasty, he plays with an intimidating edge. That dude running through levels to block downfield would thrill NYG fans.
Why do people insist on saying Pugh is better suited to play inside?
djm : 4/13/2014 11:16 am : link
He's a tackle. He played well at tackle as a rookie. From what I've seen of Pugh he's better suited to play tackle. More the technician with good feet than the mauler. Tackle.

Martin? No clue but mostly every report says he can play inside or outside. He started at LT for the Irish. We don't know if the giants like him but of they do, you'd have to believe they take him at 12. We know they love the versatility thing...and they love those Irish graduates.

he's versatile and ready to play.
Can we stop with this Pugh should be on the inside crap
PatersonPlank : 4/13/2014 11:46 am : link
Why, just because his arms are 1" shorter than the protoytpe? The guy was our best lineman last year at tackle, the only place he may go is LT rather than RT. These "old myths" just never die.

Martin is the answer to the OP's question. I could see the Giants taking him and putting him at either RT (with Pugh moving to LT) or at G in replace of Snee.
cleanest?
RicFlair : 4/13/2014 11:58 am : link
Probably Michael Sam.
Martin

The Giants have mentioned it as a possibility before. Perhaps you should take it up with them?
I think I would agree on Martin but I am not inclined to hope the

Giants take the cleanest player at 12 or even in the first round. JPP was not the cleanest player but Reese picked him anyway. He picked Pugh despite the BBI objections to short arms. I think if for example you narrowed it down to Donald and Martin and your concerns with Donald's size made you worry about picking him, than you take the safe route with Martin. If you like the upside to Donald who has a higher ceiling I believe than you have to take Donald. Its the first round, if possible you reach for a star.

cleanest player is Odell Beckham Jr. I have him higher than Evans, so it easy. He would start over Randle and provide instant deep threat.

Ebron isn't a risk as a player. His blocking isn't as bad as advertised. His willingness included. I have him second as cleanest, and low risk.

Martin is third. I would really like to trade down with him as the target.
Actually the last time Coughlin was asked he said Pugh is a T
PatersonPlank : 4/13/2014 4:00 pm : link
early on they said he can play all the positions, which is why they liked him, but they put him at T and they say he is the T.
