Best thing to do is try to avoid reading any of the troll's posts from this point forward, which I've been trying to do (successful until now) for a while.
nor will I say categorically that anything good or bad happens to Sansa tonight, but I can tell you that Motley Blue was trying to be funny with the "I'm hoping" at the end of his post. Don't let it affect your viewing!
but Sansa's gotta go. I have no idea what to expect, but all men deserve to dream and my dream involves Sansa burning...or being stabbed...or being raped and eaten by a dragon...or a giant...or dire wolf. Whatever. Hell, I don't care if she crashes her smart car and it makes no fucking sense what so ever. Bitch needs to go.
this is just a guess, but ill tag it in case anyone wants to draw their own predictions
My money is on Sansa. The cup fell right to her, and she wanted to leave as soon as Joffrey took his first drink. Also that ser Dontos guy who most likely saw her was in a big rush to get her out of there
and it delivered. A terrifying, painful death for a wretched little psychotic shit. It's a testament to Jack Gleason, but I was starting to actually get pissed with all his references to defeating Robb Stark lol.
I told my girlfriend how much I was going to enjoy it when Joffrey dies ( without knowing, just assuming) and less than a minute later he's dying.
For having just won a war the Lanister clan is looking pretty pathetic these days.

It was fun knowing it was coming, but it sure would have made for a helluva surprise. I probably would've been cheering like Cruz just broke a 70 harder.
I did not see that coming. And I was just thinking how much I was enjoying Joffrey as a character. He REALLY hammed it up for that last scene, which I guess was a fitting send off.
Hopefully we won't spend too much time clearing Tyrion - he obviously didn't do it and that's kind a of worn out TV trope. I
I figure the Dorns seem like clubhouse favorites, but just about everybody had a reason to want to kill that little bastard. It would be pretty awesome if Kingslayer struck again.
The whole set up was great. Just a whole lot of Joffrey being Joffrey. Stoking the coals of the viewers hatred at the expense of a fan favorite. Then Oh shit! He's choking! Oh shit!
One of the best one-liners in a long time. I LOLed on that one.
That was a great line, and it served a purpose this week when Joffrey received his wedding gift from Tywin. But I have to say, I'm partial to "What the fuck is a Lommy?".
Milasandre? The red witch lady, she was looking particularly hot in this episode. Bolton's Bastard had a nice looking honey too, but those jealousy issues tho
is now the king. This isn't a spoiler, but as for House Lannister looking weak, this is actually a good thing for them. It consolidates the power with Tywin and rids him of a grandson who was more a liability than an asset. Remember that it was Joffrey, against advice from his family, who started the war with the Starks. With Tywin controlling Tommen they seem in a stronger position at the moment.
the bottle the wine came from was infront of her.
I doubt Sansa did it, that would have required a plan and planning requires thinking and Sansa is incapable of thinking because she's a fucking waterhead.
That this is the "no spoilers" iteration. If I am incorrect someone please say so and I'll be gone.
Jg - I was arguing with my brother in law last night about this. I was initially adamant that it was the wine. He noted the shot of the pie dripping on the floor and made me re-watch that scene...I'm now convinced it was the pie.
I don't think it was the Red Viper that was responsible, but I am eager to see if he causes some havoc in short order now that things will be in a state of flux.
Glad to see Joffrey fall, but I'm slightly disappointed because I had envisioned someone beating the living daylights out of him.
Joffrey's wife was more than ready to completely put Cersei in the corner and be a real queen, which would have put the Lannisters firmly behind House Tyrell in the power rankings.
Kill one awful son in exchange for Tommen the Harmless, the Lannisters stay in power with Tywin as the Hand, but really the King, and Cersei as Queen Regent.
Not spoilers, I haven't read the book.
Though, honestly, who didn't have reason to want to kill Joffrey?
The "fool" who pulled Sansa away obviously had something
to do with it. When he told her to go with him it was like he knew it was going to happen and was waiting there to pull her away. I don't see him concocting any plans with Cercei.
I don't think it was anyone at that table. They all looked completely taken by surprise. And this show doesn't make things that easy either.
in the whole series who likes Joffery is Cersei. And killing Joffery means that the Lannisters have a weaker claim to the throne than before, not stronger.
Just my .02
Killing Jofffrey means the Tyrells don't have half the throne
but the means certainly did not. If she wanted to poison Joff, she could've done it at literally any other meal he's eaten without making such an enormous public scene of it. Just invite the person you want to frame to dine with them, make arrange a distraction, and get a dead son without all the embarrassment to her family. (Or, you know, send him boar hunting with a skin full of brandy...)
Someone in here got it...not gonna say who, but its here...
They're kind of stuck, being that the story is so vast and often self referential they need to remind viewers with those recaps. At the same time, if you watch the last 2 recaps it becomes very obvious who was pulling the strings.
I peaked in the book thread out of curiosity to find out who it might
read this thread because there was no spiler warning in the OP. But this season has started out tremendously. Lots of action from the start w/ Arya getting revenge & now The King dying. I enjoy the so called "slow" episodes as wel, but this has been a lot of fun already.
I must say as much as I enjoyed watching him die, I will miss the Joffrey character. He was great to hate and the actor was fantastic. Great show, great episode, great job all around. I'm guessing his brother will take the throne & Cersei will re-take the role of Queen regent???
This is the no spoilers version, but as always some people who know the outcomes can't resist the giddiness associated with giving veiled hints or giving unsolicited "hot or cold" responses to peoples speculation.
It's one of the things about this place that I just can't wrap my mind around.

On one hand, couldnt wait for the prick to die but on the other hand, we lise another great character. Now I only care about Arya and Tyrion. Im sure we'll get more characters but will I care as much as I did about the Starks or King Joff?
Taking about the actual episode and hints left in it is not discussing spoilers. People watch the show, then they talk about it. If thats annoying or obnoxious to you the solution seems pretty simple.
The posts like "someone in here got it" are completely obnoxious and unnecessary.
I can fully appreciate that it would be interesting to lurk and see the reactions of people learning this stuff in real time.
However I can't see how making a post like that benefits anyone or even benefits you. I think people have made it clear over time that they'd prefer not to have any of that kind of shit.
Your allusion to the idea that maybe I should just stay away altogether isn't without some merit. However it doesn't make what you do in these non-spoiler / "non-book-reader" threads any less pathetic.
and you're gonna whine because someone said "One of you got it". That's "pathetic"? Jesus H, stop taking yourself so seriously. If you don't shut up and quit crying I'll post the whole goddamn story and give you a reason to bitch.
Yes, again, I'm joking. You picking up a theme here about chilling the fuck out?
Just know that the audience for which this iteration of the discussion is intended really just wishes you would go away and keep it in the other thread. If you don't believe that, I just don't know what else to say.
But obviously you will do as you please. That is certainly your right. So have fun.
you guys are completely wrong and this isn't an agree to disagree situation.
One of the best parts of this show is that it isn't predictable and formulaic. I feel like anything can happen. Now you have gone and said that one of the things I have read in this thread is the truth.
That's really annoying, instead of it being open ended now there are a list of theories from this thread (not as long as the one I have even populated in my head)
Basically you have stymied my imagination, and for what? What was the purpose in saying someone got it? Pretty much just drawing attention to yourself, congratulations, mission accomplished. Now go play soothsayer somewhere else.
And that doesn't even start with the lame hint you gave
that yes, also gives something away. It's not always the person that benefits the most that is to blame, especially not in this show of blurred lines and backstabbing. Sometimes its the person with the most guts that does it not just the person who stands to gain the most or lose the least. So again, yes, you are an attention seeking inconsiderate person.
I remember how enjoyable it was to try to figure out what happened and who could have been behind it and just generally to read how events unfolded subsequently without anyone spoiling or hinting anything for me. I think it's pretty bush league to take that away from the TV-only viewers.
is what the book readers got when they read the series. Would book readers have been disappointed to learn half-way though book 1 that Eddard Stark would be beheaded for treason ?
Show watchers want to see the story unfold as intended, with the drama and suspense being built along the way.
and you're gonna whine because someone said "One of you got it". That's "pathetic"? Jesus H, stop taking yourself so seriously. If you don't shut up and quit crying I'll post the whole goddamn story and give you a reason to bitch.
If a number of people don't want you to post book-inspired hints in this thread, why would you? What's the benefit?
Who revealed anything, let alone something as big as Neds death?
People have their ideas. They want to discuss them. I said one of them is right. If that's annoying or obnoxious to you then I don't know what to say other than to guess you're easily irritated.
And Christ Peej, are you auditioning for a role? "All we want is to see the story unfold as it was intended!". And who exactly is preventing you from doing that? If all you're interested in is watching the show unfold as it was intended why are you on the internet seeking out discussions and others opinions of it, which will surely influence your perception and *gasp* maybe even cause you to view something NOT as Martin intended.
Its a underrated, people were talking about their ideas. If anything was truly spoiled then sure, I would be sorry. Not trying to rain on anyone's parade. But some of you take this "spoiler" nonsense too far.
and I wouldn't hint at anything in these threads. Fun to see all the reactions on here and I'll only speak to facts already brought up in the show. Saying "X" happened differently in the book is still a giveaway (a huge problem on the Walking Dead "non-spoiler" threads).
but I think there's a big difference between "So and so killed so and so" and "Of all the guesses as to who killed so and so, someone guessed correctly"
No need for this to go on, just delete my comments.
but I think there's a big difference between "So and so killed so and so" and "Of all the guesses as to who killed so and so, someone guessed correctly"
It's the Davisians (and other smug book readers) of the world that have me hoping the show catches the books before they're done.
I'm illiterate because I don't read fantasy books, but I have read a few health journals.
Did any of those journals cover irony or sarcasm? If you think you're an intellectual bc you read George Martin fantasy novels...well, you read the journals, I shouldn't have to finish.
old and fat enough that I'm worried he won't have a chance to
Won't the show catch the books really soon at this pace?
He's already met with a handful of people in his inner circle, including Benoiff from HBO I believe, and has told them how it will finish in case he...ummm...right.
For those interested in figuring out who did the deed.
As I am. The link below is based on the books and has some very thought out, and illuminating speculation. Then compare it to events at the wedding, and another instance from the first episode last week.
If you're worried about spoilers, just avoid that stuff referring to later chapters.
It was fun re-watching the wedding stuff and finding some pretty good aha moments... Link - ( New Window )
The guy has really created something pretty amazing as far as the arts & entertainment go, plus he's Giants fan who puts cool references in his books about the Giants.
It is funny how his output started slowing down once the Giants started winning Super Bowls again. Maybe he's just sitting around watching his America's Game DVDs and following Ralph Vacchiano on Twitter.
I think to show that the birds were inside it, and that Joffrey cut through and killed one of them in the process, showing him as a monster once again.
dies before finishing the books. I'm sure the Weiss and Benioff will not only finish writing the series, but may also write his last book. And I'm ok with that, I've only read the first book so far, but Weiss and Benioff they have done a fantastic job with the series imo and I'm sure they have at least enough knowledge of Martins plans to respectfully finish it themselves
As soon as the wedding scene started I was afraid that at some point during the reception they would have brought out a captured Shae and have her killed in front of Tyrion. They made such a point of Bron saying that she was safe on the ship and Tryrion seemed convinced that she was away from harm that I thought they would pull a twist engineered by Cersei to have her publicly murdered so as exploit his weakness and destroy her brother.
I'm glad I was wrong. I'm no big fan of the Shae character (a bit too whiney), but I did not want Cersi/Joffery to be able to get away with that cruelty and devastate Tyrion.
I'm the glad the writing is too slick for that kind of obvious plot twist.
I like how the show sort of cycles people in & out as necessary
For example Tommen, haven't seen him since season 1 - now he's prominently sitting next to Cersei. That in itself is almost a foreshadow of what is to come. Half the people watching go 'who's that other kid?' and while it makes perfect sense for him to be there in a prominent seat, it's still a gentle reminder that the king has a sibling who can fill a void his demise would create.

Shae and Margery are my least favorite characters on the show, so I would have loved this!
Last summer Weiss and Benioff MET with GRR to discuss where he was going with the Story and what was the likely Ending in case GRR suddenly...you know.
So they already know and most likely the story arcs will be somewhat different then the books anyway.
Many PROPS To Jack Gleason , I know the kid is retiring from acting so I wish him well and hope he at least gets an Emmy nomination for his work on the show.
at Martin's unassuming New Mexico home. Apparently a few trusted writer friends as well as Weiss and Benioff were in attendance. Martin laid down the rest of the story and instructed them how to close it out in the event that he can't. So there are actually half a dozen or so people who already know how it ends, even though it probably won't wrap until my 16 month old starts college.

Can't stand either actress.
I get not liking Shae, she is a whiner and she's basically a reminder of/spotlight on the weakest aspects of Tyrion's personality. I like the Tyrell women though, a lot more than the Tyrell men. Mace is a patsy social climber and Loras proves teens, even those in alternate fantasy worlds, are pouty and angst ridden. Margaery is smart though, and she has a nasty mentor in Ollena. Doesn't hurt that she's gorgeous, either.
for one the poison could be placed out of sight and not tried to be slipped in front of an entire reception. That's risky, but not impossible. 2.) pretty much guarantees Joffrey eats it first. (Maybe Margery does too / they feed each other)
I'm thinking showing Tyrion picking up the goblet might have been some misdirection.
for the same reason TTH stated - the king is almost certainly getting that first bite of pie, but you never know who's drinking from the wine.
i'm not sure if Tywin was mentioned in this thread, and thus, i don't know if he qualifies for the "one of you got it correct" reveal thereafter, but my guess is Tywin.
he's ruthless and he wants to stay in power. Joffrey mouthed off to him at the end of last season and he was none too pleased about that. now Joffrey is basically out of control, embarrassing the family. by killing Joffrey, Tywin gets the crown to pass to Tommen, who is like 7, which ostensibly makes Tywin king until Tommen comes of age, and returns Cersei to Queen Regent. it also consolidates power with the Lannisters, rather than sharing it with the Tyrells.
and poor Margaery is 0 for 2 on king husbands.
all speculation, of course. i read only the first book and then decided that i like the show much better.
i don't think it was her and i have two main reasons:
1) she's an amoral witch, but i think she draws the line at her own children. i remember her reaction when myrcella left for dorne. i don't think she'd kill her own son for any reason.
2) she was working on the Shae angle at the time of the murder and her instinct was to blame Tyrion when Joffrey fell. so, my reasoning is as follows: if Cersei was planning to kill Joffrey and frame Tyrion for the murder, she wouldn't give a fuck about Shae.
yep, dwarf Renly with an oversized ass hanging out
members of the couple to drink from, so that is unlikely as a target. The goblet he was drinking from at the feast was a different, more normal sized one.
I think it was either Cersei or Oleena Tyrel. Both can be pretty evil but I'm leaning towards Oleena because of that crap she was saying about killing a man at a wedding
Who tried to have Bran killed in season 1 - that mystery was never properly revisited. Meaning whose dagger was that?
Scotty- Without giving it away, the HBO version is slightly different in that I believe it has been strongly implied that it was Jamie or Cersei who hired the assassin to kill Bran with Tyrion's dagger. However, in the books it was different (but not plot changing different) and the actual truth revealed in the timeline just before the events of last night's episode. I'm not sure if I should say who because I would rather err on the side of caution with this one.
Re: the show. I wasn't even thinking of that question as an "open item" despite the fact that the show never revealed exactly which person put the hit out.
but I have the sneaking suspicion that it was Cercei who poisoned her own son.
She seemed way to discontent giving up her power, she's a psychopath inbred loving weirdo, and I recall her once trying to take her own life with a vile of poison. Wouldn't surprise me as the Lannisters are one F-ed up family. The only one really worthy of living is the imp, and perhaps Jamie for as much as I hate him he is a good character.
I hate Stannis and that Fire worshiping cult, I hope something bad comes to them all.
for us non-book readers, they introduced the fool just last episode so, to me, it would be pretty weak if a guy we know nothing about (the fool) murdered the king for no reason other than that he wanted to impress Sansa.
i think it's much more likely that when he saw it all go wrong, he immediately thought to help her because he figured she might get caught up in the accusations.
I haven't read the books either. But The Fool was saved by Sansa on Joffrey's name day early on in Season 2 I believe, when he showed up drunk to fight as a Knight. Joffrey wanted to kill him by forcing more and more wine down his throat. Sansa convinced him it was bad luck to kill someone on your name day, so Joffrey made him the fool rather than kill him.
it a point to watch the "previously on" segments because a lot of times they remind you of something that happened a season or 2 ago that may have some relevance in the upcoming episodes. Otherwise I likely would have forgotten as well.
A ton more characters in the book... They actually consolidate a bunch of characters for the TV series. A lot of it is different from the books also so anyone that says they know what is happening because of the books could be wrong. They have the jist of what is going on and what will happen, but it is different.
Start thinking it was the cake instead of the wine
That I haven't seen mentioned here in favor of the Cersei/Jamie organizing the poisoning.
I may be remembering incorrectly, but didn't Jamie give Catelyn Stark his word that he'd somehow look out for Sansa when he got to Kings Landing.
He and Cersei had plenty of motive, and Cersei could achieve her desire of framing Tyrion while simultaneously allowing Jamie to make good on his word by putting Dontos up to the task of rescuing Sansa away from Kings Landing (assuming that's what he's doing).
I'm probably doing some combination of mis-remembering and over-thinking, but it does make some sense.
Right or wrong, it is interesting to speculate. I can't get enough of this show.
How'd he know to tell Sansa to leave when it started?
I think he was involved but more as a delivery /Messenger role I rewatched the entire reception closely several times and it looked like Oleena Tyrel palmed something when she looking at sensa's necklace plus she was sitting right next to where the cup was when they were having the pie. Someone had to set it upand have the fool give her the necklace. Could it of been the gay Prince whatever his name is?
I don't recall seeing little finger this season yet it sounds like something he would do
But he was still her son. That the one thing I don't see Cersie as being capable of. She has been consistently protective of her children from episode 1.
Same goes for Jamie. Joffrey was his son too and he knows it.
Lots of cunts.
Lot's of cunts
I'm hoping.

I'm glad I was wrong. I'm no big fan of the Shae character (a bit too whiney), but I did not want Cersi/Joffery to be able to get away with that cruelty and devastate Tyrion.
I'm the glad the writing is too slick for that kind of obvious plot twist.
Shae and Margery are my least favorite characters on the show, so I would have loved this!
Well, if it was the wine, everybody at that table drinking from that carafe would be dying.
Not everybody would get the first bite of wedding pie.
I'm thinking showing Tyrion picking up the goblet might have been some misdirection.
i'm not sure if Tywin was mentioned in this thread, and thus, i don't know if he qualifies for the "one of you got it correct" reveal thereafter, but my guess is Tywin.
he's ruthless and he wants to stay in power. Joffrey mouthed off to him at the end of last season and he was none too pleased about that. now Joffrey is basically out of control, embarrassing the family. by killing Joffrey, Tywin gets the crown to pass to Tommen, who is like 7, which ostensibly makes Tywin king until Tommen comes of age, and returns Cersei to Queen Regent. it also consolidates power with the Lannisters, rather than sharing it with the Tyrells.
and poor Margaery is 0 for 2 on king husbands.
all speculation, of course. i read only the first book and then decided that i like the show much better.
ah, fuck me.
The actress that plays Margery does an adequate job (doesn't hold a candle to the actual book character), but she just bothers me as an actress.
Whodunit ? Call CSI.
oh, and him hacking up the book Tyrion gave him with the sword was nuts. great way to go out for that character. bad to the bone to the very end.
So I'm mentioning her.
Spoiler alert
We might find out soon!
Maybe he was quick enough to realize Tyrion would be suspected and thus, his wife would also be a suspect?
I also went back and did not see 1 part of the wedding where the fool was close enough to the wine to poison it.
But if I had to put my money on the line, I'd go big and put it all on the line for the fool.
Tyrion is just a patsy.
Tyrion is just a patsy.
It was the illuminati
Also, you are all sheeple.

i think it's much more likely that when he saw it all go wrong, he immediately thought to help her because he figured she might get caught up in the accusations.
not easy to keep track of all these characters.
not easy to keep track of all these characters.
A ton more characters in the book... They actually consolidate a bunch of characters for the TV series. A lot of it is different from the books also so anyone that says they know what is happening because of the books could be wrong. They have the jist of what is going on and what will happen, but it is different.
When the dogs die in the kennel they'll know it was the food. Or the Fool confesses to Sansa.
I don't recall seeing little finger this season yet it sounds like something he would do
Same goes for Jamie. Joffrey was his son too and he knows it.
