NFT: Jeter out again tonight

Blue Meanie : 4/13/2014 6:15 pm
NEW YORK -- New York Yankees manager Joe Girardi decided to sit Derek Jeter for a second straight day because of a strained quad in spite of Jeter's usual protests over being left out of the lineup.

"He's not real happy," Girardi said. "I told him missing one game is better than missing four to six weeks, if something were to happen."

Joe Girardi decided to sit Derek Jeter for a second straight day because of a strained quad.
Jeter is available in an emergency Sunday against the Boston Red Sox, Girardi said. There are no tests scheduled.

Girardi said he plans to play Jeter on Tuesday at home against the Chicago Cubs. Jeter was not immediately available for comment.

Jeter plans on retiring at the end of the season. He only played in 17 games in 2013 because of a variety of injuries related to the ankle he broke during the 2012 ALCS.

going to have to nurse him through minor injuries like this all year
well from how he has looked in the field

i'm not shocked. I'd really prefer to see him DH against LHP more often than not.
Glad to see Girardi willing to be tough about this

Dean Anna made a smooth play on a grounder up the middle in the 8th or 9th yesterday, and I remember thinking there's no way Jeter would have gotten to that

I'm all for Jeter getting his playing time this year, but if he's not 100% he'll have to sit sometimes
I haven't seen all the Yankees' games this season

But from the little I've seen, Jeter has seemed ok in the field. Can somebody elaborate how he's looked in the field?

Is always sure handed, but his range is really bad up the middle, and it has been ever since he dislocated his shoulder against the Jays. Now with that ankle, it is even worse.
