Per PFT (via Buffalo News) Trump says he plans to make a run at buying the Bill franchise. He also says he'd keep it in Buffalo.
As a guy who grew up in Rochester and graduated from UB, I have a soft spot for the poor, beleaguered, Bills fans and hope the team stays in upstate NY.
Plus, Trump would be the most hilarious owner of all time. He'd be Al Davis, Jerry Jones & Dan Snyder rolled up into one.
PFT: Trump to make a run at the Bills - (
New Window )
Twat -waffle. I love it. Very creative.
Gallisano sold the team a few years back to Terry Pegula. That being said...yeah I hope he buys the team.
As for the league, note that Browns' ownership should soon be indicted and the Feds are zeroing in on the Cossack who owns the Vikings. So they wouldn't approve Trump? Most of the problem with the Bills can be attributed to short-pockets ownership & a crud stadium that would not allow for sufficient local revenue streams. That is going to be the issue as the Wilson Estate posts the team. The business community in western New York is simply not that deep. At one time the cut of the television contact was enough for the small market clubs to stay competitive. That isn't the case anymore. The exception being Green Bay, which is the sole community owned team that the league allows. The Rams will probably return to LA. The Jags could end up in Mexico City. Drink bottled water only. I think Trump will back out. Cuomo already has the franchise in a golden handcuffs sort of deal that he had no right negotiating Public money should not be spent on stadium construction either through loans or tax-easing deals. They don't help the economy locally, creating seasonal no-benefits vendor jobs.
Even if his investment in the casino industry is tiny today, his name is forever linked to the industry. The NFL will not play games with that image.
BINGO
I guess the Hail Mary would be a standard play.
Not so sure about that. This game or gimmick the NFL has become is all about market recall and the Trump name is a brand in itself. It's not good for us, the fans nor the game but it does draw in viewers. Not sure if he's as rich as many of these owners so he could be risky. Then again, his brand might grow the league even faster.
So is the NFL and Fantasy Football
I believe his wealth is quite overstated, and it's absolutely a fact that he licenses his name a good amount. And is notorious for not paying contractors.
He could very easily be worth a mere low nine figures or less as much as he could be a multi-billionaire.
Somebody who is off the radar but a possibility to buy the Bills is Eddie Debartolo Jr. He's got the cash, the NFL's blessing, and is 50/50 mentally on rejoining the league.
I know he's hated on here, but he could easily make Buffalo a real team again.
