Lagares just drove a deep 2 bagger into the gap in right center. 2nd and 3rd, one out.. down 1-0. Granderson had the 3rd out in his glove and then smashed into the wall and it came out.
Chris Young went 5-5 last night with 2 HR's.. sounds like he's ready to come back.
Its amazing we are just under .500. We have a brutal schedule this month. If we come out of it even close to .500 Ill be thrilled. We can't hit this bad forever. We've been terrible.
Impressive. Can't make this shit up.
Gee, Niese,Mejia, DeGrom & Montero
your 7th inning,8th inning & closer are Wheeler, Syndergaard & Harvey
with minimal offense and solid defense that is a 95 win team. Now before you kill me we all know this is just an exercise
and they can't pitch every day.
That configuration has a better chance to lose 95 games than to win 95 IMO
And then you're seriously questioning if they could pitch every day, 162 appearances?
the record of 106 appearances by a pitcher was set in 1974. Pretty sure none of the three you mention in the pen would get close.
60 appearances is more likely, 80 tops.
In his hey day, the Red Sox won 80% of his starts. he was 23 - 4 his best year - and I'm talking games he started but his team won, was 80% (he made 29 starts).
So basically you're saying each of Niese, Gee, Degrom, Montero, and Mejia would all make around 32 starts and be each around 19 - 13.
What you're suggesting would be nice, but it's unrealistic to say the least.
and you have Familia in the pen who is a converted starter and maybe someone like Matz (if he can't sustain the workload of a starter - his stuff is electric). even Mejia simply if he's odd man out in a rotation of better pitchers.
I love Matz's stuff, but I'd like to see him just stay healthy another year, and build arm strength.
He would be an awesome addition to the rotation or the pen.
By the way - made me realize how awful the Mets are when trying to think of the three best hitters on the team. So depressing.
Odds of all 7 of those guys being healthy at the same time are probably slim though,
Lagares injury is really unfortunate. He's off to such a good start and hitting so well that you hate to see him get taken out of rhthym for a few weeks. Hopefully if he goes to the DL, it'll just be a mininum 15 day stint. Maybe we get really lucky and its day to day. I'd expect to see Kirk brought up in his place is Lagares goes to the DL.
I wasn't able to watch the game last night? How did Wheeler look? His line didn't look that great.
double switch so torrees could pitch more than the 7th since wheelers spot was due up in 8th
