@TonyPauline Kevin Pamphile/T/Purdue, major sleeper, visiting NE Patriots, Miami, Arizona, Tampa Bay, New Orleans, NY Giants: draftinsider.net/reports/2014/T… TFY Draft - Kevin Pamphile - ( New Window )
blew it away at his pro day, which the Giants attended. 6'4" and 315. I'd never heard of the guy, but apparently he came on last year for Purdue. He could easily be taken in the fifth I think.
He, Kadeem Williams from Albany, and the kid from Bethune-Cookman are possible late round OTs for the Giants. Jerry routinely looks for late round OL gems. Brewer, Petrus, McCants, Herman, etc. Guys with great measureables they hope will develop. Accorsi did it with Guy Whimper.
is similar to a Seantrel Henderson, they have excellent measurables and skill, but are just flat out lazy and unambitious. I'd pass.
Although a later or mid round OT is likely needed for depth, along with a higher round OL, preferably someone like either Yankey, or Swanson. One guy that has potential to fall tot he 5th is Brandon Thomas after the ACL. He wasn't getting out of the second round prior to his injury, and I think he could be a steal in the 5th if there. I'd let him heal up and then you have some insurance for the future as either an OT or OG.
Kevin Pamphile, OT (6-4 5/8, 310) — Pamphile ran the 40 in 4.94 and 4.97 seconds (a time that would have placed him among the top performers in his position group at the combine). He also had a 32-inch vertical jump and 9-0 broad jump. He ran a 4.81-second short shuttle and a 7.61-second three-cone. He did 25 reps on the bench press. He also has 34 1/2-inch arms Lonk - ( New Window )
He flat out sucks. He was counted on to solidify the line last year. If you think the Giants offense(line) sucked last year, I challenge any of you to sit through a 2013 Purdue game (my fall Saturday torture)
I just watched all of his plays against OSU. He seemed to be the only one on the OL who knew what he was doing, but he also had either one or two missed blocks. UDFA.
Converted DL has the measurables, but has a whole lot of learning to do, too. Rookie free agent candidate.
The Reese regime has blown way too many draft picks on projects that never panned out as it is now. They don't need another one. USe the picks on guys who can come in and play now or will soon.
"...OL gems. Brewer, Petrus, McCants, Herman, etc...Guy Whimper." (Sorry, can't write, still laughing.) Seriously, which of those was a "gem"?
None of them were gems, although the jury is still out on Herman. I was just saying that's what he's looking for in the later rounds. Pamphile is another guy like Petrus and Mosley who made a late position switch to OL, this time from DT.
I think we're going to end up with Pamphile or one of the other two I mentioned. Reese wants another "project" with "upside."

The averaged a staggering 280 yards per game TOTAL offense including an outstanding 57 ypg rushing.
Yeah, If I was Reese, I'd be all over this guy.
On the plus side, his Uncle did win two National Titles with the U, so he has that going for him.
