Being used as leverage is a good plan? Reece got played like a game of craps. Thinks bc MacAdoo is here now every ex Packer will run here to sign. Maybe he thinks Rogers is coming next LOL
Is anyone really heartbroken that we didn't sign Flynn? I understand that Painter isn't really the greatest option as a backup QB, but aside from one "historic" game against the 23rd ranked Lions defense in 2011, what has Flynn done other than get injured and play terribly in Seattle and Oakland? Flynn's been riding that one game to multiple lucrative contracts while showing nothing as a starting caliber QB.
has drafted 3 qbs so far that haven't been worth a crap. Of the 3 guys drafted (Woodson, Bomar, NAssib) I don't think a single one of them has started a single game as the second qb
Not a one of the QBs the Giants have tried to develop have stuck on any roster, Giant or otherwise, as a primary back-up for any even moderate amount of time. Only Nassib, after the biggest investment, really even made a roster as almost a non-entity as a third QB for any decent time.
Given the number they've run through under this regime, you'd figure at least one would have a season or two in somewhere.
given the high success rate of QBs drafted after round 3, it's shocking that Reese continues to fail to pick one that is worth a damn.
Brady
Brunell
Gannon
Brad Johnson
Theisman
Starr
Staubach
Rypien
Not a bad list...
When you also include the hundreds of "Guy you've never heard of unless he played for your favorite college team" names that were taken in between those 8 successes over a 50+ year period, it's a pretty terrible list.

There were 315 QBs drafted after round 3 since 1967. I've heard of 83 of them, including those already mentioned. 40 of those were starters for at least a year &/or had fairly long careers as backups. 1 or 2 of them might have even made a Pro Bowl once.
McCoattails and this started with the NYC media speculation surrounding his signing and the gaggle of Packers who would follow him to the Giants: answer -0. Well then it moved to Mc & the Giants weren't really interested. Except PS in Flynn's case they were. And McAdoo's influence with Flynn was Elvis Costello's Less Than Zero.

While nobody expects Reese to pull a Tom Brady out of the fifth round, I think its reasonable to expect him to find someone good enough to play behind a qb whose never missed a game
And the fact that we didn't sign ex-Packers isn't an indictment of McAdoo, it's just another reminder that sportswriters work with baseless speculation most of the time and aren't any better at their jobs than the random BBI poster would be.
Hey, it's not supposed to be science, but pretty sure anyone looking at a similar list will come up with similar numbers. It's OK to disagree and you're free to post alternate "research" should you be so inclined.
'recognizable' on the other hand, would get you laughed out of a lot of places (including BBI), especially if you wanted to try and pass it off as some sort of statistic.
not a replacement for either Manning or Nassib. I don't see the Giants trading Nassib or drafting a quarterback (unless Bortles is available on the 2nd round, which is highly unlikely). And I don't the Giants having any interest in either Manziel or Bridgewater unless one is available on say the 4th round, which is also highly unlikely.
Or that we're drafting Bridgewater with our 12th pick.
And don't forget Painter...
Other than the mighty Flynn, obviously.
A coincidence that after the news report that he was visiting the Giants today, the visit is cancelled and the Packers sign him?
Just don't trust Freeman to be a professional. Painter more responsible than him.
OTOH, in a perfect world the guy has major upside. Could we help another guy resurect his career like we did with Collins?

It's actually not, which is really sad.

You called him eyeballing a list of 350 names and recognizing 83 a stat? You must be an elementary school math teacher.
Is that how this works? Someone makes up unquantifiable bullshit, and then says 'well, you guys prove me wrong'?
I take it back, elementary school science teacher is now my pick.

It isn't me.
