What if Donald is on the board....

Geeman : 4/15/2014 3:45 pm
and the Giants pass and take a player like Ebron?
I would not be happy at all about that scenario and I'm sure those feelings will be shared by many Giant fans, but it could get even worse. What if he falls to Dallas and he then gets to play against our Oline for the next 10 years!!!
I really hope things don't play out like that but it is a possibility.
I just think that you want to draft difference makers/play makers/building blocks at the top of the draft and Donald is definitely that. If he goes before our selection, I can deal with that, but if they pass on him for Lewan, Martin or Ebron I'd be pretty pissed.

I wish Donald is taken top 10 so this shit will end. I've never see an obsession with a player on this board like I have with Donald. I swear he has a cult following on here. I hope he goes top 10.
What if Ebron torches Dallas twice a year?

Let's hope
ANGPASS : 4/15/2014 3:53 pm : link
Lewan donald ebron are there. All of our hairs would be standing while we are on the clock. I hope they take donald. It would help a lot to a dominant player in the trenches. But i have a gut feeling they will go offense no matter what. I could definitely be wrong and hope to god i am and they take donald. I think donald makes the most sense if he is there only because you can get a good WR OL and solid TE after round 1.
I dont like the mindset
ANGPASS : 4/15/2014 3:54 pm : link
of taking a player so someone in our division doesnt get him. if that player doesnt help us as much as another we could use, it isn't worth it. Generally speaking of course.

AnishPatel : 4/15/2014 3:55 pm : link
Haha true. Isn't Brandon Coleman in this draft too?
What OL and WR
old man : 4/15/2014 3:57 pm : link
is still on the board?
If it gets OL and WR crazy at 1-11, before Goodell can say 'The NY Giants are on the clock', his name is at the podium.
I really don't think.....
Wonderphil11 : 4/15/2014 4:01 pm : link
he'll be there. As a matter of fact, I think only one QB gets taken before 12 and the Giants will be choosing between Martin, Ebron, Beckam Jr., Mosley, Hageman and Fuller. One can swap out Lewan for Marin or Dennard/Gilbert for Fuller but you get the idea. I actually think there's a solid chance the Giants trade up a couple spots to get an impact player as the QB's start to slide.
Pick Donald?
Jupiter : 4/15/2014 4:02 pm : link
I don't have a favorite but there is one thing I know. Donald probably will be the biggest boom or bust player on the board if he is there at #12, except for QBs.

Donald has a physical limitation and doesn't fit the profile of a DT. The other choices may have limitations but they are not physical limitations to playing a specific position.

John Randle and Warren Sapp overcame the same limitation and were exceptional players, but the offense still attacked them by running straight at them - the same way an offense would attack Donald. Do you think Donald is equal to Randle and Sapp?
This is going to piss a lot of people off

I will be happy with whoever the Giants draft in the 1st round, but like Anish said, it is getting annoying.

What if....we post these Donald questions in the existing Donald threads?

I dont know how that'd work - I'm no interwebz guru. Then ya'll could run that Donald circle-jerk uninterrupted. JerseyJoe can be designated mod and slam the banhammer on any poor soul who inadvertently stumbles in and isn't flyin high on Donald-spunk.

That shit would rock.

I would love to have donald, but my goodness, people seem like they would riot if they took ebron or lewan. I don't think evans will be there anymore. But i think we will get a good player regaurdless. there is no position that the 12th overall pick doesn't have the opportunity to start or at least play. When O line D line LB Corner TE or WR. I would bet that all of the players everyone here is hoping for is not even our pick. I bet we draft someone out of left field like pugh. and the you are going to see posts of how great that player is going to be. lol

because you fear your opponent may pick him is silly. There are reasons to draft Donald. There are reasons not to. Dallas drafting him is not on either list.

I hope it's for Mack or Watkins but I'm thinking it's gonna be for a LT most likely Matthews
Well, I'd hate it if we took Ebron, no matter who was left.
yatqb : 4/15/2014 4:47 pm : link
But if we took an offensive lineman instead of him, whether Lewan or Martin, I'd be fine with it. Not so much Marquise Lee; I want the trenches attended to first and foremost, as we can land a nice WR later on in the draft.

Anish, this happens every year. People get passionate about one player or another (for me it's Donald and Martin this year) and advocate strongly. Can you recall the Robert Gallery fans? Kenny Britt fans?

I see the Giants giving up #12 the 3rd round pick to the Vikings at 8 for Matthews or Robinson in some mock drafts.

Aaron Donald: 6005, 285 4.68
Henry Melton: 6034, 265 4.64 (2009 draft)
Geno Atkins: 6013, 293, 4.75 (2010 draft)

Nor should you be happy
PaulN : 4/15/2014 5:23 pm : link
If the Giants pass on Donald, you come here and scream about it and make my day please. We go through this every year, and every year we get the BBI experts outraged, they were OUTRAGED about Pugh, he was a 3rd round pick, maybe a second rounder at best, according to the experts here on BBI.

They jumped up and down creaming their pants about Price, and was he really a player that we should have jumped up and down over? LOL! At best he is treading water, and that is being kind.

Try and understand this, the experts are the organizations scouting departments, not ESPN, or the other nuts we listen to, the scouts are the experts, and the fact is that even the experts get plenty of picks wrong. Why, because it is an art, not a science, they try and turn it into a science, but its not and it never will be, why, HUMAN BEING's are the ones being measured.

Try and sit back, watch the process, and cheer for the players who the Giants do draft, then when it is proven they were wrong, then we can scream, and if they do get it right, then we can put Reese in the Hall of Fame. LOL. This is not serious business, it is entertainment.
enough with the 40 times
BloodlustRevenge : 4/15/2014 5:32 pm : link
Everyone in the world know his 40 time. We get it...he's fast.

He's a good player because of a lot of reasons. Physically, it's his quickness and strength, both upper and lower body. Strong hands, long arms for 6'1 player...and knows how to use them. Quick first step. Good lower body strength and conisistently plays with good leverage. His 40 time is impressive but that's one of the last things you'd look at in a DT. His ten yard split is probably more impressive than his 40 time. It's probably in the 1.50 range..

Agreed. If the Giants have an OLineman in the same tier as Donald. Who needs more help? The DLine or OLine. I still say the OLine, because it still requires more of an upgrade at this point than the DLine IMO. I think people here forget major reasons why the Giants flopped last year. Let's see... no running game...Eli sacked 39 times....Eli threw a career high 27 INTs...and this was not purely on Eli. By the way Nicks mailed it in and now he is gone. Can Donald catch the ball in the Red Zone? If Donald is the BPA on the board then fine, but you don't pass up the OT or WR that is graded higher or at the same tier as Donald. By the way, you can't rely on the 2nd round pick as your OLine savior.
I get it.
Gatorade Dunk : 4/15/2014 5:48 pm : link
I see the talent and potential in Donald and totally understand why so many fans are excited about him, but in my opinion, he just doesn't fit the Giants' archetype at DT, particularly under TC. I just don't see them taking him.

I sometimes wonder if otherwise informed/intelligent fans are pushing for Donald so hard because it gives them the "I told you so" and "I'm smarter than Reese" angle if he does do well, because I feel like it's much more likely that whatever he does - good or bad - will be for a team that ISN'T the Giants.

Did Pugh fit our archetype of a Tackle? When the talent/production/character is so good sometimes you don't worry about perfect body type (similiar to what they did with Pugh)

i am not an Aaron Donald hater. If the Giants select him, then I will be satisfied with the selection. The Giants staff are the experts not me. They selected Pugh and I had a WTF moment. But you know what? They were correct in taking Pugh. What I don't get is how we forget why the Giants started off 0-6 and the offense flopped. Can't ignore this fact.
I am not a Donald hater either
