and the Giants pass and take a player like Ebron?
I would not be happy at all about that scenario and I'm sure those feelings will be shared by many Giant fans, but it could get even worse. What if he falls to Dallas and he then gets to play against our Oline for the next 10 years!!!
I really hope things don't play out like that but it is a possibility.
I just think that you want to draft difference makers/play makers/building blocks at the top of the draft and Donald is definitely that. If he goes before our selection, I can deal with that, but if they pass on him for Lewan, Martin or Ebron I'd be pretty pissed.
If it gets OL and WR crazy at 1-11, before Goodell can say 'The NY Giants are on the clock', his name is at the podium.
Donald has a physical limitation and doesn't fit the profile of a DT. The other choices may have limitations but they are not physical limitations to playing a specific position.
John Randle and Warren Sapp overcame the same limitation and were exceptional players, but the offense still attacked them by running straight at them - the same way an offense would attack Donald. Do you think Donald is equal to Randle and Sapp?
Boy, i bet that would piss a lot of people off too...
I will be happy with whoever the Giants draft in the 1st round, but like Anish said, it is getting annoying.

LOL! True
I dont know how that'd work - I'm no interwebz guru. Then ya'll could run that Donald circle-jerk uninterrupted. JerseyJoe can be designated mod and slam the banhammer on any poor soul who inadvertently stumbles in and isn't flyin high on Donald-spunk.
That shit would rock.

Or that DID go to VA Tech
Anish, this happens every year. People get passionate about one player or another (for me it's Donald and Martin this year) and advocate strongly. Can you recall the Robert Gallery fans? Kenny Britt fans?
I see the Giants giving up #12 the 3rd round pick to the Vikings at 8 for Matthews or Robinson in some mock drafts.

Aaron Donald: 6005, 285 4.68
Henry Melton: 6034, 265 4.64 (2009 draft)
Geno Atkins: 6013, 293, 4.75 (2010 draft)
Mind. Blown.
They jumped up and down creaming their pants about Price, and was he really a player that we should have jumped up and down over? LOL! At best he is treading water, and that is being kind.
Try and understand this, the experts are the organizations scouting departments, not ESPN, or the other nuts we listen to, the scouts are the experts, and the fact is that even the experts get plenty of picks wrong. Why, because it is an art, not a science, they try and turn it into a science, but its not and it never will be, why, HUMAN BEING's are the ones being measured.
Try and sit back, watch the process, and cheer for the players who the Giants do draft, then when it is proven they were wrong, then we can scream, and if they do get it right, then we can put Reese in the Hall of Fame. LOL. This is not serious business, it is entertainment.
He's a good player because of a lot of reasons. Physically, it's his quickness and strength, both upper and lower body. Strong hands, long arms for 6'1 player...and knows how to use them. Quick first step. Good lower body strength and conisistently plays with good leverage. His 40 time is impressive but that's one of the last things you'd look at in a DT. His ten yard split is probably more impressive than his 40 time. It's probably in the 1.50 range..
Just sayin....
Agreed. If the Giants have an OLineman in the same tier as Donald. Who needs more help? The DLine or OLine. I still say the OLine, because it still requires more of an upgrade at this point than the DLine IMO. I think people here forget major reasons why the Giants flopped last year. Let's see... no running game...Eli sacked 39 times....Eli threw a career high 27 INTs...and this was not purely on Eli. By the way Nicks mailed it in and now he is gone. Can Donald catch the ball in the Red Zone? If Donald is the BPA on the board then fine, but you don't pass up the OT or WR that is graded higher or at the same tier as Donald. By the way, you can't rely on the 2nd round pick as your OLine savior.
I sometimes wonder if otherwise informed/intelligent fans are pushing for Donald so hard because it gives them the "I told you so" and "I'm smarter than Reese" angle if he does do well, because I feel like it's much more likely that whatever he does - good or bad - will be for a team that ISN'T the Giants.

Did Pugh fit our archetype of a Tackle? When the talent/production/character is so good sometimes you don't worry about perfect body type (similiar to what they did with Pugh)
OH! Is he really LT?!?!?!?! I guess I had better then sign up! Quick! Get me a pen!
